We all knew Celtic robbed VVV Venlo for Giakoumakis 🇬🇷 at £2.25M last season, but Roman Yaremchuk to Club Brugge highlights just how big a steal it really was! Club Brugge have just paid €19M (£16.2M) + 10% sell-on for Yaremchuk from Benfica! In my opinion, I would rather have Giakoumakis to Yaremchuk. Yaremchuk has failed miserably at Benfica scoring only 6 goals in 23 games last season at Benfica! When you consider that Benfica are a team that will create plenty of chances in Portuguese football, that really is a poor record for a No.9! Just to reiterate, Giakoumakis scored 26 goals for VVV Venlo in the Eredivise the season they got RELEGATED! It’s not even like there’s much of an age difference either. Yaremchuk is only 10 months younger than Giakoumakis! Seems like a horrendous waste of money from Brugge in my opinion, expected better from their scouting department!
