I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 with the 4.0, and it's an awesome Jeep, I've always wanted one, and it's my first car! It is the Laredo so pretty basic, the passenger seat isn't powered, it has the basic six-speaker stereo, cloth seats, yadda yadda, but it is the most reliable engine combined with the 42RE transmission and SelecTrac 4X4... it had the same radio as this one when I got it, but I put in a Kenwood unit to get Bluetooth and USB port... it also has 134k on it which isn't bad. (:
i always thought these with the 4.0 liter motor were the way to go. the V8 has a history of crappy reliability. These were actually really nice long lasting cars, the people who live two doors down from me back at home have had the same ones forever now.
My dad has the 2005 model Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 and it has many problems with reliability and quality... the nav screen blanked out so we can't do anything but change the radio volume and go through the presets, and the engine gets terrible fuel economy and isn't running too well after 189k miles... we've had it since new and I hate it. Plus its uncomfortable. The I6 is the way to go, and the 1999-2004 models like this one and the one I have is the best model. I once owned a 1994 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 and it too had reliability problems. My parents have owned every generation of Grand Cherokee except for the newest (2011+) one, though we'll be getting one eventually.
I love these! Proud '04 owner checking in.
Great car. They'll run forever
Ok motor? One of if not the best
