Just fought a terror of the peaks OTK deck in Brawl- and it was so fun to play against solely because I played Emrakul on their set up turn and proceeded to OTK them with their own dragons by targeting their face for each trigger lol.
Mesa falcon guy at it again! Love the vids! Have you seen the Rakdos Joins up, hulking metamoprh, and Abuelos awakening Azorius Combo deck? I'm climbing the ladder like crazy with it! Turn 4 infinite combo win is very possible!
By any chance did you consider changing a couple of Storm the Festival copies with Smuggler's Surprise? That card's pretty nasty for a surprise ambush, considering that it's an instant
It's likely that he'd empty his hand before he could get a chance to cast Smuggler's Surprise, or draws it when he has no cards in hand, unfortunately. With more card draw, though, it could be a great addition.
True, but it can happen that you're already have two or three creatures in hand and a Storm may whiff. Plus Smuggler can return creatures from graveyard (and put them on the battlefield at the same time if you have enough mana) and give hexproof to all your creatures since all of them have power > 4

It appears the deck list featured and previewed was different than the one played since I saw invasion of zendikar and the green legendary kamigawa dragon. Can we see what the final deck list was? I love gruil monster decks and love trying the varieties.
Love seeing another iteration of Gruul Monsters. I've been playing with Calamity variants to mixed success but its a ton of fun when it goes off and I'm looking forward to how the archetype develops
I haven’t been playing arena because I’ve been playing more commander, but a deck like this is exactly what would get me back into standard. I really hope this deck is good enough for tier 2 or 3
ive been playing rakdos dragons in standard for a while and its a pretty similar setup. instead of using the green ramp spells though i use "charming scoundrels" and "magda the hoardmaster" for treasures and rakdos gives you access to "rivaz of the claw" and "expensive taste/decadent dragon". I also think a card that gets really overlooked for dragons is "kolaghan warmonger".
I was pleased that you got to see that Metamorph Joins Up combo, it sure is an odd one! Though when I tried to tweak that deck, I found I had to learn from experience why it has to be Metamorph and the other Clones in the format won't do. Oops.

They got the Rakdos Joins Up in the graveyard, then pulled off the combo. I had a similar reaction to it that you had. A lot of "huh?" and "WTF?" until they got me. I'll probably run the combo on one of my videos since it's the type of jank that I enjoy. XD
Seriously, CGB, with your influence and other content creators if we start a petition to Wizards to bring back the old rotation I think we could make it happen! I say we do it cuz this current way is killing the game 100%!

If we had the current rotation schedule back in 2021/2022 that we do now, Terror of the Peaks would have been in the same standard format as Storm the Festival. That would have been cool, but also makes you realize how old the oldest cards in the format are. Terror of the Peaks was printed 4 years ago.
Yea I had the same experience. Played against someone that milled their whole deck and conceded when I countered the reanimate spell. Was wondering what their plan was for the first 5 minutes of the game.
The funniest part of 23:35 is that their absolutely baffling bat choice earlier turned out to have won them the game. If they'd taken anything else, you'd have been able to kill Sheoldred with the topdecked Invasion of Tarkir and 3 dragons in hand.
The infinite damage combo deck is fun, but very luck dependent. I ran it through Gold and ended up with barely a 50% win rate. I had so many games where I went to the bottom 20 cards of the deck without getting one of the three combo pieces. In this bo1 format it is just too slow. But I've seen some people with amazing results as well. Should you play the deck? Depends on your level of luck? Any interaction or countermagic tends to wreck the deck.
@@RollingCalf To a certain point. I don't want to mulligan too much and risk not hitting my lands either. If I can start out with 2 out of 3 I'm happy. I can accept 1 piece and a lot of ways to look for the other pieces.

I'd argue that with Rakdos Joins Up, the opponent whiffed insanely hard. I believe they had around 20 cards left in their library before they got one of their 4 copies into the graveyard? So your whiffing with Storm the Festival was about par for the course for that match-up. Only thing worse I've seen was when I dropped Collected Company and the top 6 cards of my deck were 3 Lands and 3 Collected Companies...
damn we get two videos today? we're eatin good Also this has nothing to do with the video, but a couple days after launch I made a Naya blink deck with Terror of the Peaks and I lost every game except one against a Jodah deck with a full board. I flickered four creatures with 4+ power and killed them, was pretty sweet and then I lost some more and deleted the deck lmao

The rakdos join up combo guy was just really unlucky. He needed the rakdos card on the graveyard to win, but 3 copies were pretty much in the bottom of the deck. he could've won easily by turn 4 but the shuffler screwed him up
Just casted two storms in a game, got all lands twice, sigh…:( I still like the deck though! Edit: dang it I should have finished the whole video before crafting the rest of the dragons I didn’t have for this deck. The games looked so good…then again I’m a big magic noob So basically scripted quick deck > slamming five mana reprinted staple in standard? Sheoldred being one mana less makes that much difference…?

This deck is really fun to play.
