Expectations are everything my man. This experience taught you much more than anyone can teach you about filmmaking. Especially your first feature, you have to look at it like a child. All these people working together without an understanding for how a set is supposed to function, you have to see it like a newborn baby. It’s like raising a kid… Asking for things to be even 50% easy sounds unreasonable with a child. The film is your child. I’m glad you aren’t giving up on this. There will always be options to cater your projects to your comfort level as well. A crew of 5 for 20 days could cost just as much as a crew of 10 for 10. The planning will always be within your control, but once you get on set, you’re riding the waves. Thanks for having me on set. I certainly learned a lot myself.
Thanks Kyle! I appreciate the words of wisdom big dog, and you're right. It is like a child, and as a parent you will have frustrating moments with your child, but you learn and get better as a parent, like I'm sure I will as a DP!
Thank you for being honest. More people need to make this type of content. I'm not in that world but anyone who is needs to watch real content like this.
Mannnn… Brooks this was so awesome my Brother. I truly appreciate your transparency. As one of the actors who had the blessed opportunity to work with you I can honestly say, You Are the ULTIMATE PROFESSIONAL! Never did I see you get frustrated, break a sweat or anything. But that’s a testament to your dedication to the project. Yes! The time on set can be GRUELING especially for someone experiencing their first indie feature film. But you handle your business. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 I Salute you and can’t wait to see the film. Keep Inspiring and Keep Grinding & Growing! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
To one of the most talented actors I've worked with, I appreciate you brother truly. WOrking with actual professionals like yourself and the rest of the crew was amazing and such a learning experience for me. I learned from everyone on set. That I can say. Appreciate the continued support man and I'm looking forward to us working on something else together.
Man, I have to say your content is increasing in quality and unique shots etc. I love the more down to earth side of you! I love the honesty. I gotta see this Indi film, I am excited to see what you have been working on. Great to see all the dramatic shots in Chi town. Man it has been a long time since I have been down there. On a side note, I can totally relate, have been in a career shift for what seems like forever, working to pick up more film work and documentary style production. It is a grind and so hard to find the right path. Heck, even going back to Grad school has been a journey but at my age, I doubt it will really help all that much. I look forward to seeing you work someday soon. I gotta get back into the Windy City.
Whats up JB! I gotta get your matte box shipped man I haven't forgotten! Just ran into car troubles and then be traveling for work! But I appreciate you as always man and the continued support! Hell if you ever need help man I can travel to you as well. Last time we talked I think we discovered we are very close!
@@Brookssmedia I'm not even worried about that box, but I appreciate you jumping on here as a creator and working to get some promotions going. I hope to eventually do the same one day. Chicago is about four hours from Viroqua, where I live, towards LaCrosse. I definitely want to take a day sometime soon to come down and get some footage of the city. I do not even go to Milwaukee enough, where I grew up. Chicago, though, has a better city feel. Much more to see and do. I thought a trip down would be great if you were shooting a film or something, and it would be great to drop by and get some BTS of you and your crew.
First of all.. this video was DOPE! I loved all the interesting shots and the journey to took me on! When you flashed to present day.. I was like.. whoa!! I loved that part a lot! You may not feel like you got a "W" with the film... but it's just a matter of time man! You have all the ingredients to reach even the loftiest of goals! Keep goin bro! I can't wait to see how things unfold for you! Keep up the great work!
I have no desire to be a filmmaker. I like the lane I'm in. I'm a freelance videographer for brands that focuses on interviews and short narratives. Solo, 2-man or 3-man crew at most and I love that simplicity.
