Music video by The Human League performing Louise. (C) 2003 Virgin Records Ltd
It's amazing how The Human League kept holding the torch of their classy and magic bitterness through the years and their more commercial moves. Louise is a gem that deserves more attention and respect.
A great underrated track. Easily one of the best from the Human League.
Defo
I've got this Human League signal signed by the best 1980s Pop band still going strong ather 35 years or so. Ie The Human League. My heroes and Queen Joanne Catherall Sweet ❤️ I will always be your number 1 fan. & The same thing goes 2 Queen Susan Sulley ❤️ and King Phil Oakey 2. A billion thanks Queen Joanne Catherall Sweet ❤️ 4 being my hero.
I like it at least as much as ,dont you want me,...probably more.
Genial in its simplicity.
Yes xx
The 80s is my louise.
Im living in the 80s...stuck there and pretend we are still lovers
Exactly like me - i am living in the 80's too .
The sadness we all bear from what might have been. Brilliant song at 14 and a brilliant song at age 50. In fact, it works so much better now.
So true my man 👊😎
You mean you bears are sad creatures...? Wow... I could never imagined that. But... after reading your sad words... you bears indeed look like kinda sad. IF I could eat all those salmon just like you guys, I would be SO happy...! Please bear that in mind and STOP being so sad, bears!
Special meaning for me
I'm 52 now and I heard this song on the radio today here in Cork city and I remember it from early 80s , couldn't believe it was 40 yrs since I heard it , gorgeous song
The Human League make me feel as if we’re still lovers..great Band..Great song
Anyone here with me watching this in year 2024?
sure am
What da think?
I love hearing Phil speak as he’s from Leicestershire although the band has a Sheffield foundation. You can hear that slightly nasal tone in his singing voice that makes him so distinctive. I was really into soul music when the League were around and didn’t admit to my friends that I liked them but they’re one of those bands that just seep into your subconscious through haunting melodies and unusual beats. Louise is such a simple but moving song only slightly eclipsed, for me, by Human, written by the same team that brought to Alexander O’Neal so many hits and you can hear their sexy quality in the sound of that stunning track.
Human League was not just a good band from the 80's they were really hardworking, sharp and highly refined in their creations
Brilluant track, one of my faves from them. So bittersweet and simple and wistful, and words so true.Makes me cry.
Beautiful track
Funny thing: in 2016 I had a dream about a girl I no longer knew, and this song feels exactly like the dream. I have no words to describe it; they're genuises!
Makes me remember someone, who no longer remembers me
Phil and Co. have churned out unassuming pop classics for decades. It's a pity the Human League aren't more highly regarded.
My favourite Human League track. My single had a scratch and I still expect to hear it in the same place whenever I hear it.

You are right brilliant song always think of my sister when I hear this classic song from the human league
The days when they'd print lyrics on the back of No.1 mag and I'd learn them off by heart. "If you put the same effort into your school work blah blah blah..." was often muttered by my mum.. Happy days 👍
And trying to tape it of radio. Not getting any of the djs in
I loved my teen years
Sorry home ☹️
@Hannah Williams . Yes the 80's was a wonderful decade .
The lyrics used to be in Smash Hits mags sometimes
but school work would never make you cool ....
A complete musically written masterpiece and what memories ❤ Icons 4ever!
This song, with its pathos and emotion, reminds me of my former lover, and the good times we shared before our break-up after 12 years. I wonder if our paths will ever cross again. She chose a path that I could not, in all honesty, follow. I still have feelings for her.
Take a me back to me old school days, looking back what a magical time greeeeeat music, I my opinion anyway. Human league were up there with the best in the 80's

I'd forgotten how outstanding this was...until tonight. Great track.
There was that someone who I shared a part of my life with until we both realised it’s over. We both moved on and reconnected 20 years later. This song says it all. There are wounds you don’t want to heal because the memories were something really good, something that I never found again. Love you still M.
This song always makes me sad...love it though.
Sam TheMan Hiya m8 I have got the cover of this HUMAN LEAGUE song signed by my all time favourite pop band i.e. the Human League . And I have seen the Human League play live 16times now. I really love the track 1man in my heart . And I have told Susan Sulley 2her face that I simply adore the Human League single 1man in my heart. And m8 Susan Sulley was chuffed to bits. @Sam TheMan : Me too . I always cried when i heard it in the 80's , and now at the age of 55 , i cry even more when i hear it , but i love this song - very much.
never knew we had it so good eh?.
I'm sure I'm doing it on purpose: I watch it and then cry! And then I watch it again and then I cry again!
Impressed with the floating library ...you cant never have enough books.
Time goes by, but love remains, hidden and purer than ever.
“It’s not always true that time heals all wounds”
Amen to that Phil.
true art never ages
I was on the bus home from work, and fell right into the lap of a sweet girl call Louise coming down the stairs, her reply to me was " I can think of better ways to ask me out", I think I went the same colour as the bus.... BRIGHT RED oh the shame, she was standing at the luggage rack in front of the stairs at the time I literally fell for her. I miss the 80s, those days will never come back but at least we can make new memories as we get older.
This is the chilliest song of the group, and i love it 😌🥰
Great voice!❤
Fukn class. .wat a voice.the abba of Sheffield.

Wow what a song brings back teenage years memories at 14 years it sounded good and at 50 it sounds even better x
So true👊😎
Hmmm. This flaunts suchs a story recognizable for soo many people it still make me drop a tear of two. It sounds plane. And not too melancholic. Though experiencing that same store as many did.... its a slap in the face.. waw human league. Just waw !
I am a female from Finland born in 1980 and I love The Human League.Especially Philip Oakey.
Fredrika Holm nice 👍 this is a great track
Something really good that you’ll never find again...as the song says.
I had a long talk with Philip Oakey in my job. I told him this was my favourite song. He said it was supposed to be a follow on of the Don't You Want Me story...
hehe is he a nice guy?
Hiya m8. I had a real good chat with Joanne Catherall ♥️ my favourite Human League member. In Brighton about 6 years ago. Ather my 16th Human League gig that I went 2c. And m8 I had such a great time in chatting with Joanne Catherall ♥️. That I missed the last train home from Brighton 2 Portsmouth where I live in and play Chess 4. And I didn't have my meds with me. In order words. I did a Piky from Dad's Army. But fortunately I managed to get a free taxi home. The only downside of the free taxi home. Was that the Human League's sweet ♥️ s and Phillip Oakey weren't in the taxi home with me.

My ex was called Louise and left me over 20 years ago. This song brings back such powerful emotions and memories.

I think i'll spend the rest of my evening playing this song on repeat.
Superb tune, lovely sparse production, excellent video. The Human League were a class act.
Lovely lyricist great band
Good days....good times....
I think i'll spend the rest of the evening playing this song on repeat!
Just fantastic!!! Here come those 80's memories..... teenage kicks.
Great lyrics, great song
Love The Philip speech when he write to The diary. The first synthpop rap😁
I loved this song with it being my name x
Always been my fav Human League song...
Story of my life, what could have been!
You should listen to this song every day
just love the League ... spin their gems often on my weekly radio show in Auckland, NZ
lovely song
POV: You’re driving your teal green Fiat X1/9 through Ocean Drive in Miami, FL, in a warm summer afternoon of 1984, while this badass tune is playing in your 8-track cassette
This & Mirror Man are my favourites from them.
Everyone panned Hysteria when it was released, but the funny thing is it includes about 3 or 4 classics. Hardly a failure. I particularly like Betrayed from the album. Probably the most similar to the style on Dare.
Wow.... I’d forgotten about this song,So glad I found it again, fantastic song
One of the best videos ever. I remember when Hysteria came out. They'd spent ages making it and the production was a bit of a disappointment after Dare. But this song is wonderful and the video makes them come over like a group of Bunuel like surrealists on the edge of the mainstream.
It was always going to be difficult to follow Dare. There's actually some great songs on Hysteria. Far better than the album that came after it.
ok lets have it then. 2019?
steven orr There’s always one...🙄
@@Ali-fq3nz bit harsh
there should be more music videos on canal boats then just Perfect
by Fairground Attraction, life by Cliff Richard , Every Loser Wins by Nick Berry and this .
One of these songs that get chatchier with age - I remember that rainy summer in 1984 when it didn't. do much to me - Now i like it even more.
This is there best song.
Absolutely! Ricky Greenleaf! I remember hearing Being Boiled, it must have been around 1978/'79 and I was hooked! To my mother's horror I even had 'the hair!'
This is probably one of my favourites. Brilliant concert recently in Wolverhampton at the Racecourse, managed to secure a spot one row from the front and enjoyed every minute. The are still exceptional!
Did you also wear heels like Philip used to?!
HL. never loose you !!!
Another great song from The Human League.
If you was at school in the 80s you know this is a classic
I recall having a dream many moons ago about a relationship I was in. In the dream, my then girlfriend and I were older and not together and met up in a shop and all the old feelings came back. Were we going to get together again later in life? I hope not! This song is a song about that dream and every time I hear it, all those old feelings come back into play. Great song, great lyrics.
My life is complete, I discovered a song with my name!! Great song btw
Im sure your as nice as the song is, xx✌✌🇬🇧🇬🇧

My best mate's name. She had no idea of this song til I showed her it. She quite likes it. She was around three when it was out
I still have they’re album after 30yrs way before CD’s or downloads lol
Just so fab, great song & Phil Oakey so handsome in this xx
Beautiful track
This is especially relatable as I myself was in love with a girl named Louise.
Then after we split up, I only then got into synth-pop, discovered The Human League and came across this song, and things got awkward, that my favourite pop band had made a song about a man remembering his time with a girl called Louise. 😂😬
Few people know this is the sequel to "Don.t You Want Me baby". Its the man after his obsession has passed
I named my Daughter after this song. XXX 🤩 💖 🤩
good song from human league
It really invokes something from Second That Emotion from the unforgettable ART POP band JAPAN
Japan😍😍😍😍
Now I just want to listen to oil on canvas 😉
Fantastic song, one of their best in my opinion.

Beautiful.
2018. October. Still listening.

Your daughter is named LOUISE after this song? What a lovely idea
The black/white clip , with smooth views and voice , never forget
