    Great seeing you guys go over the codex, it's an interesting one and I hope to do a review on my channel soon. Glad we got some solid lore and artwork, such a relief after seeing how the Tyranids codex came out.

    Imagine if they totally changed the reanimator to be just a rez orb caddy, like the skyray gunship is a missle caddy for Tau.
    Also, perhaps Overlords would be better as an option if they gave their unit +1 Attack in melee in addition to having -1 damage personally?

    • @christopherclayton5500
      @christopherclayton5500 8 месяцев назад +2

      I think the Overlords have a niche as a hard-to-kill Warlord, but honestly, there probably needs to be a 5 point difference between it and the one with Translocation Shroud.

    After testing the Lokhust Destroyers, here are my findings. 2 units of 6 Destroyers with a Lokhust Lord is really the sweet spot, and a single Heavy Destroyer block with a lord can help. I am running a Canoptek Court army with 2x6 wraiths, 2x10 immortals, 2x6 destroyers, 1x3 heavy destroyers and the Nightbringer. The 14” wide wraith brick blocking your opponent into their deployment zone on turn one gives the rest of the army time to setup firing lanes that very few people can get through, and the speed on the destroyers gets you secondary objectives really fast. Forcing your opponent to chew through all those wraiths only to be shot down once they get through that is just ridiculous

  • @eulissanders3708
    @eulissanders3708 8 месяцев назад +2

    Orikan in an immortal squad also gets immortal reroll to wound ability since it works for the unit

  • @danjones3012
    @danjones3012 8 месяцев назад +7

    Wraiths are the new lychguard unit.
    Lychguard is 20 wounds, 3+ 4++, techno gives 5+ fnp before codex drop.
    Wraiths is 24 wounds, 3+ 4+, techno for 5+ fnp.
    More wounds overall with better offensive capabilities with the wraiths.

    • @johnj.spurgin7037
      @johnj.spurgin7037 8 месяцев назад +4

      But more vulnerable to AT weapons. Yes, wraiths are the new frontline, while lychguard moved to the Necron's battleline melee equivalent. My problem is that obeisance is bad and lacks keyword synergy. Obeisance would be much cooler and better if it was a detachment that punished character attachments.

    Bricky and G! I think Hypercrypt is going to outshine Court. I honestly believe 3 bricks of Immortals and 3 bricks of Deathmarks will carry the army with or without Monolith. I think it will be consistent for Tactical Play.

    • @christopherclayton5500
      @christopherclayton5500 8 месяцев назад +1

      I agree that a Monolith is not needed. Sure, it would lock you out if 3.5/6 of your Detachment stratagems, but you're probably gonna be using Cosmic Precision every turn so it's not like you'd have that much CP to spare on those.
      Ironically, I think the ability to reposition a unit right before the Shooting Phase starts is gonna be great for the Court.

    • @th3summoner
      @th3summoner 8 месяцев назад

      Bro not needing monilith is actually true. How sad is it that the only detachment Monilith works in its not even needed? Compare that to 9th Silent King lmao.

    Overall the vibe of necrons went from mass reanimation to just mass bodies with minimal reanimation, the silver tide is fun but I like more castle reanimation because in lore that’s how they are, slow moving not tanky but they can comeback in mass. However with the new codex and rules they make it the exact opposite. Sure we have three solid detachments and all the data sheets are kind of useful but the core of the army is gone. It went from lychguard blocks to wraith blocks with the technomancer. The errata change has to change some stuff of necrons will just feel bland.

    • @th3summoner
      @th3summoner 8 месяцев назад

      I think it'd fine if silver tide was viable. But warriors suck. You can silver tide immortals but you only get half the units. Its probably wraith tide, which will hit like a wet noodle.

    Annihilation legion is so bad, they don’t even support half the range for the destroyer subtype locust are all shooting and they get nothing from it.
    Also you would only really be bringing back at most one skorpek per 2 fight phases
    Bricky you are talking about +1to wound being bad because only 6 units can get the benefit…annihilation legion only has 7 units that benefit

    • @evgenijvalamin6473
      @evgenijvalamin6473 8 месяцев назад +1

      locusts are good without buffs (full reroll or rerols 1s to wound, crits on 5+). Add lance against half strength units and remove NORMAL MOVE from some strat and it will be nice detachment.

    • @rteishe
      @rteishe 8 месяцев назад +1

      Have you tried it yet? I have. It's not as bad as you think. Like evgen said...I think it may have been intentional not to buff LHDs & LDs...they're plenty powerful on their own. Skorpehks absolutely shred again with getting their full rerolls back & lethals & dev wounds, and flayed ones actually really shine in this detachment. I'm not saying the detachment is OP or anything, but it is functional. ...its not the utter trash everyone thinks it is

    • @jwebcoding7289
      @jwebcoding7289 8 месяцев назад

      What buff would they give to Lokhust destroyers (heavies in particular) that wouldn’t just outright break them? Those units are already really good on their own and it absolutely was the skorpekhs and flayed ones who needed some additional support to be viable in a detachment that made them the focus. Like others have pointed out, I still don’t think it’s going to be anything other than a perfectly okay detachment. Doubly true when compared to hotness we have in cryptek court and hypercrypt.

  • @connorolivier380
    @connorolivier380 8 месяцев назад

    I am sorry but Annihilation legion is hard bottom of the detatchments, an army rule that yes is useful but phalanx can be used to buff everything overlords can attach to and rerolling charges can be done with a cp (and usually you don't have many game changing charges to make in a turn so just the one reroll for a cp is fine for me)
    my other concern is you mentioned that only 6 units gain the benifits of the phalanx detatchment, only skorpekh's (skorp lord but realistically you wouldn't have one on its own), ophydians and flayed ones so 3.5 units get the annihilation benifits no hate just feel like it is definitly worse statistically

  • @johnj.spurgin7037

    I'm wondering if Deceiver is more meta in hypercrypt, because you combo with tomb blade move blocking to keep the field open for the models you DS in after removing them from the field using Grand Illusion, and who can hold an objective on his own and snipe characters in a pinch as the toughest C'tan shard thanks to stealth.
    And just to confirm, the glocktopus is once per turn period? No bringing 3 and popping it once for each?

    In today's Cursed Rules Questions:
    I think the only thing that technically prevents Fortifications from being put into Strategic Reserves by an ability (rather than during Declare Battle Formations) is a bullet point in a summary in the Core Rules. (Page 43, bottom right) These are implicitly not the actual rules of the game. (Page 4, middle right)
    So can you put a Convergence of Dominion into Strategic Reserves with Hyperphasing? I mean until GW notices.

    • @CuriousLumenwood
      @CuriousLumenwood 8 месяцев назад +3

      Remember when people were defending the new detachments by saying things like GW wants us to experiment with our armies and the detachments let us try new things each game by buffing different units?
      And remember how people apparently forgot how bad GW is at balancing?

    • @AlecTrups
      @AlecTrups 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@CuriousLumenwood and with some good internal balancing I think detachments can absolutely be great for that reason! Some need bigger changes than others or even datasheet changes to compliment them, which also brings up the issue of why I think GW's love for physical print codexes is holding all that back. I think tenth edition is so close to being as great as it could be yet they're not quite committing enough to get it there.

    • @grzmit5904
      @grzmit5904 7 месяцев назад +1

      ??? For both space marines and necrons there are multiple viable detachments, its really only one stinker for both of them. (Stormlance isnt necessarily a bad detachment, biker units just suck, space wolf thunderwolf get massive benefits from stormlance since they're actually a good unit lmao).
      GW has done quite a good job balancing most of the detachments, and whilst it sucks the Annihilation Legion is the worst one (my favourite part of necrons as a non necron player), its overall a very well written codex.

      Oh lychguard needed the nerf and seem to have been pointed enough to keep them usable, but warriors are NOT. they needed either another point off, or +D3 models rezzed if they're on an objective. The nerf to rez orbs alone is a massive shot at RP, and everything else was a bit much.

    • @PatrickSlingshotGuy
      @PatrickSlingshotGuy 8 месяцев назад

      @@johnj.spurgin7037 I agree. Some of the things needed to be toned down a bit. But I think they just over did it.
      The unkillable lych blob was just not enjoyable. It never died and it wasn't fun to go against. They fixed that issue with preventing crypteks from being attached to them and dropped their points again.
      Reanimator maybe could have had its aura dropped down to like 6" with a small point drop but 3" is basically unusable.
      And the difference in how many extra models you get with the new warrior and reanimation rules is just too much. 1 point less is not worth reanimation on average half the models you would have gotten. Plus I don't think the reaper strength need was warranted. I don't see a reason to ever use it now.

    • @drugmate9710
      @drugmate9710 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@shell_of_myself God forbid Necrons have a unique playstyle that represents their lore well. Especially when you could easily work around it. Reanimation worked as intended. If you want to kill a unit, you have to focus on them. Warriors did not really have all that much killing power anyhow, they got all of their worth from being able to hold objectives. But noooooooooooo, since other players are uncreative, the Necron players have to suffer and lose their faction identity in favour of turning them into Grey Knights for the meta.
      Instead of completely nerfing the reanimation into the dirt, they could have made the other options equally as interesting. Hell, I'd rather they made the Necron weapons useless than to do what they did to reanimation.
