I love all of your videos! You are my go to for anything to do with my Cameo 4 Pro. Have a question.... Is it possible to cut mylar for reusable stencils with a Cameo 4? Can you post a video on how best to do this? If it's not possible, what is the next best material you would recommend to use for reusable stencils?
Hey Alcira! I haven't used Mylar before but have heard it is good for stencils. I have used Acetate sheets and they have worked, but I found it a little flimsy and they are not naturally adhesive, so it only worked for a few uses for me. If you want a truly reusable stencil, check out my video on using the Ikonart reusable stencils. It's a cut-free process but a little more investment, but the quality of the stencils were great. Quick question I see you just recently received your machine, I have a Cricut Maker and I’m thinking of purchasing 4 Pro, some of the reviews are negative have they worked out the kinks?
Hello Becky I'm new to your channel and find great info and tutorials on silhouette. I have the original cameo and haven't really used it for years but want to jump start using it again. I'm really interested in the pro but would like to know if it can cut acrylic. If so, what thickness can it cut? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the different crafting machines.
Hey hey!! That phrase sounds like it’s from a song. :) anyhoo.. my cameo 4pro keeps slipping on the right hand side. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I used the mat that came with the machine and placed my transparent printable vinyl.
My vinyl keeps sliding all over the place. I make sure it auto feeds in straight, tho it usually takes 10 tries to get it perfect. Lol. I see that the far right edge of your slide bar (if you are looking at the machine) is at the edge of the paper. Is that how it should be? But I’ve tried both ways and, even tho the vinyl starts cutting fine, it always moves on me and with big cuts the vinyl ends up sliding around. Any tips are welcome!
Hey Renee, it seems like for some reason your vinyl is coming loose from the rollers. When you load the material, are you able to give it a nice tug and it stays in place? Let me know! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Yup. Tested it. Gave it a tug; it's tight. Have a 60" simple rectangle to cut. The majority of the time it won't even go over the first registration mark, manual doesn't work, and I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps with no luck :(
Yes, I experience this from time to time with my Cameo 4 (and the 3 was the same way for me). I've been working on a video for troubleshooting the Print and Cut feature, but haven't been able to find a reliable fix that works more than a few times. I do believe it has a lot to do with lighting, both too much and not enough effect the optical lens. Hope to have more info out in the future! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thanks Becky! So far going back to 4.3.370 for Silhouette Studio has been the only reliable fix (RIP all the trees I've used to do my tests haha). I'm just worried uninstalling to roll back to that version will use up one of my business license installs :(
@@DesignBundles Update - I just finished a support call with a Senior Specialist from Silhouette and I believe we figured out the issue. The new machines use more pressure to hold the mats, so can warp/distort the registration mark and cause it to fail. Holding up the end of the mat higher than the blade while it reads the first mark has seemed to fixed it (newest software version of Silhouette Studio). I did tests with different registration mark settings and in different light settings and so far so good. I was also told to reset the blade carriage by turning off the machine and sliding it left to right 3x if it does fail before trying again :)

Hey Ross! Yes, I will decidedly NOT be traveling with this think unless absolutely necessary 😂 I will work on this video for you though! I'm still only gaining an additional inch with the print and cut, though, since my max print area is still 13" wide (unless I rotate the design) so I'm not sure that it will make much difference in the end product over the 12" wide Cameo 4. ---Becky
@@DesignBundles It's gotta be easier the 2XL Tee I did with an oversized 4 quadrant print from Illustrator lined up and heat taped together. My wife (VP of the Pressing Department) was about ready to kill me, :)
I am completely new to Silhouette. You mentioned in the video to install a legacy version of the Silhouette Design Studio, but there was nothing in the setup video that mentioned that, so I am sure I installed the most current version. Do I need to uninstall that version and reinstall the legacy version to be able to use my Cameo 4 Pro?
Hey Jessica! No, I'm sure whatever version you are on will work fine. I only recommend the legacy versions if you are having bugs in your software. But the Silhouette Cameo 4 Pro needs one of the newer software versions to work, so you should be fine. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Genette! The Cameo does print and cut with the use of your home printer (same with the Cricut Maker). I would say the biggest difference between the two machines is the software. If you are on the fence, I would suggest downloading the software (free) from their respective websites and seeing which one fees more natural to you. Cricut is more beginner-friendly but the Silhouette Studio is a more robust software that can be intimidating at first and grow with you over time. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Oh no, what a bummer! Have you tried an alternate cord? That may help decide if it's the cord or the machine. Hope this helps and best of luck! ---Becky
I plan to continue to use my cameo 2 & 3 for smaller projects but also will use the pro 24". Do I need to have it on separate computers due to program differences?
Hi Debbie 👋 From what I can see, the Silhouette software is for Windows and Mac, however, you could try downloading the software on your Chrome notebook or contact them to see if they plan to release anything in the future: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software Please let us know if you have any further queries, we're happy to help!
Hey there! The main difference is the size, yes. I'm a bit of a hoarder, so I typically keep the machines that I purchase. But, if you're not a hoarder, you can certainly resell machines that you don't need. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Any advice on mat slipping part way through cutting already checked the feed is locked down and the back is closed properly its not coming into contact with anything but when it gets to cutting on the last quarter of the mat the mat starts slipping diagonally…
I had the same problem with my mat drifting at the end of project. I absolutely hate Silhouette cutting mats and if I'm doing anything wider than 12" I cut without a mat. If I do anything 12" wide and smaller I actually use a cricut mat and it works perfect.
Thank you for the tip with using the Cricut Mat! You may also want to check that there isn't anything stuck in the wheels as often times small pieces of vinyl and even dust can throw off the mat! - Dawn 🥰
Hey Liz, I just line it up with whatever the closest size to my material. What happens when you cut without a mat, maybe we can trouble shoot. ---Becky
@@DesignBundles The right roller is slipping and my cuts are all wonky. Working with swing design and silhouette for a fix. Sounds like a lot of people are experiencing the same issue from some of the cameo FB groups.
I just bought this one about 2 weeks ago. I’m having issues with text overlapping when cutting even though they are not. I have ruined about 10’ so far. Have you had any issues like this?
Hey Threeper! Do you mean like script text? Did you weld them together? I'm not sure I've experienced what you are describing but with a few more details I'll definitely help you any way I can! ---Becky
transfer print then cut files from cricut to silhouette? I have an Etsy shop and currently use Cricut I just got a silhouette machine and want to transfer all my mats that are sized for my products over to the new software so you if there is a way to do that?
Hey Katie! Unfortunately, you can't transfer SVG files from Cricut to Silhouette. Cricut Design Program doesn't allow you to save SVG files to your computer at this time. However, you can create and save SVG files to your computer with Silhouette. It's one of the best features of the Business Edition!
Hey Assad, there is a plug-in you can purchase to use either Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, it's called Silhouette Connect. Hope this helps! ---Becky www.silhouetteamerica.com/faq/solution/silhouette-connect-plug-in-overview
Hey Don! With wood there is alot of options. You can sublimate on wood, create stencils and paint, add vinyl to sealed wood... it really depends on your project needs. - Dawn
I just got my cameo pro and on here you are only showing on page setup 1. Machine.. 2.cutting mat.. 3.media size. on mine it is showning all these and feed type. i have not been able to find andything on this.can you please explain what the auto manual, manual, and A3 auto sheet feed ? i have not found a video for this.
This was Stahls Premium Plus and it is normally a hot peel, but I did notice that I had better results if I waited for it to cool. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Lillian! Are you lining the mat up with the roller before you load? It sounds like it may be off. This is shown at about the 20 minute mark in the video.
I have the original silhouette cameo machine (I think it is like 5 or 6 years old) and I have hardly used it. Is it still compatible with the silhouette design studio? Any idea if I need to do any updates? I used it some when I first got it, but found it a bit overwhelming and didn’t have the time to really learn more. Now I am retired and have more time. Would you recommend upgrading and if so, would you stick with the silhouette and get the silhouette cameo 4 or do you feel the cricut would be a better option? Also, are there any how to videos on using the original silhouette that you know of?
Hey Melanie! If you mean the Cameo 1, it is a fantastic machine and it is definitely still compatible with the software. The only downfall is a lot of the recent tutorials are going to be with the Cameo 3 and 4. There will be a few differences but overall, I think upgrading would be unnecessary at this point. One main thing to note is that you will use the Ratchet Blade, so you will adjust the blade depth yourself (I prefer this blade anyways). Also, you will have to connect with a USB cable. And the last thing I can think of is that you'll have to choose Load Media or Load Mat, but that is an easy choice depending on which you are loading into your machine at the time. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Kris, I usually avoid bundles unless they are the same price as an individual machine. Most (not all) bundles are filled with items you are unlikely to use in the beginning, and you can use that extra money to purchase vinyl and tools that will be more beneficial. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Greetings I just recieved my cameo 24pro yesterday. Wow its big and heavy. Can you share with us which stand will work with this Big Girl? If a stand would need modifications would you share that as well? My space is somewhat tight so a rolling stand would be fab.l contacted US Cutter and ask about their MH871 working with the cameo 24 pro they said it would not. I ask if they knew where I could find a stand for my machine they said no. Any one here know where I can buy an affordable already made stand thats in the price range of the US cutter MH871, its $69.99? thanks Love your videos because your so cheerful...
Hey Darlene! Congrats on the Cameo Pro! I do not have any info on a stand but I will try to research this for you. You may want to also ask in a few of the larger Silhouette Facebook groups if you haven't already, perhaps some other Cameo Pro owners can share. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles thank you, I’m not a face book person, so maybe I will happen across someone with the cameo pro that found a stand that doesn’t mind sharing where they found theirs. I Do Appreciate Your Time…
Which cutting tool do I need to use for making the deepest cut possible, would I need an adapter as well? I''m confused with which tools go with different cutters, I have the pro, does cameo 4 tools work on it or do I need to look for items labeled pro?
Hey Armando! You should be able to use any of the Cameo 4 tools with the Cameo 4 Pro. For the deepest cut, I would recommend the 3mm Knife Blade. Hope this helps! ---Becky

---Becky
Becky need help! Is the cameo 4 better than the cricut maker? And also does cameo print and cut?
Hey Genette! The Cameo does print and cut with the use of your home printer (same with the Cricut Maker). I would say the biggest difference between the two machines is the software. If you are on the fence, I would suggest downloading the software (free) from their respective websites and seeing which one fees more natural to you. Cricut is more beginner-friendly but the Silhouette Studio is a more robust software that can be intimidating at first and grow with you over time. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I love my mine but the power went out in the middle of cutting project now the wait of warranty to contact me smh
Oh no, what a bummer! Have you tried an alternate cord? That may help decide if it's the cord or the machine. Hope this helps and best of luck! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles thanks im going to try that
I plan to continue to use my cameo 2 & 3 for smaller projects but also will use the pro 24". Do I need to have it on separate computers due to program differences?
You do not, it is the same Silhouette Studio program!
Can you use a Google Chrome notebook instead of a windows version?
Hi Debbie 👋 From what I can see, the Silhouette software is for Windows and Mac, however, you could try downloading the software on your Chrome notebook or contact them to see if they plan to release anything in the future: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software Please let us know if you have any further queries, we're happy to help!
So is the difference between 4 and Pro 4 the size? Also what do you do with all your other Cameo's when you upgrade?
- Dawn 🥰
Where did you get your 24" matte black HTV? I'm really struggling to find it anywhere.
You can find some here - www.143vinyl.com/12-x-24-sheet-siser-easyweed-htv-matte-black.html
Can you tell me where did find your 20in HTV rolls??
Hi there! You can find 24 in rolls at 143Vinyl.com
Great Video! Which line are you lining it up on the left? I have not been able to get consistent cuts with my pro not using a mat.
So you don't need to use a mat if you don't want to?
Hi there! You don't have to use a mat with this machine.
---Becky
You and a whole bunch of other people. GO find other reviews of this machine. It's a pile of junk.
gm can you please help cameo pro not cutting right for print n cut thanks
transfer print then cut files from cricut to silhouette? I have an Etsy shop and currently use Cricut I just got a silhouette machine and want to transfer all my mats that are sized for my products over to the new software so you if there is a way to do that?
Hey Katie! Unfortunately, you can't transfer SVG files from Cricut to Silhouette. Cricut Design Program doesn't allow you to save SVG files to your computer at this time. However, you can create and save SVG files to your computer with Silhouette. It's one of the best features of the Business Edition!
I cannot figure out why my mat is feeding crooked. I lock it but it is not secure in place
I would double check the locks to ensure they are completely locked.
What if you use another design software e.g Coreldraw and send the design to cut in silhouette studio?
Hey Assad, there is a plug-in you can purchase to use either Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, it's called Silhouette Connect. Hope this helps! ---Becky
www.silhouetteamerica.com/faq/solution/silhouette-connect-plug-in-overview
Is the machine support precision of 1/32 inch? And the .ve files?
Hi there! The Silhouette Design Studio will use a variety of file types, however, .ve is not one of them at this time. - Dawn 😊
what media would you use if using say pallet wood or rough surface material with joints? (made-up/assembled sign boards)
Hey Don! With wood there is alot of options. You can sublimate on wood, create stencils and paint, add vinyl to sealed wood... it really depends on your project needs. - Dawn
I just got my cameo pro and on here you are only showing on page setup 1. Machine.. 2.cutting mat.. 3.media size. on mine it is showning all these and feed type. i have not been able to find
andything on this.can you please explain what the auto manual, manual, and A3 auto sheet feed ? i have not found a video for this.
Hi Lillian! Can you please let us know which version of Silhouette you are using? Are you in the Basic edition? - Dawn 🙂
@@DesignBundles I have the business edition
Other than the sizes (Came 4, Came 4 Plus & Cameo 4 Pro) is there any difference in what the machines can cut?
Nope, you got it Kathleen, the size is the difference. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles yup. I have the cameo 4 and was just wondering if there was any difference besides size. Thanks Becky!
Where I can buy the cheaper pro4
What htc did you use? Is it hot peel or cold peel?
This was Stahls Premium Plus and it is normally a hot peel, but I did notice that I had better results if I waited for it to cool. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Our cutting mat keeps moving and cutting is off. Any ideas why?
---Becky
How long take you to recive the machine? I am trying to order at swing but they do not have in this momento.
Hey Liz, I was able to pick mine up at a local Michael's store, I'm not sure of any online vendors. Wish I could be more help! ---Becky
Thank you
Their are so many options on cameo pro bundles how would you choose what to get?
Hey Kris, I usually avoid bundles unless they are the same price as an individual machine. Most (not all) bundles are filled with items you are unlikely to use in the beginning, and you can use that extra money to purchase vinyl and tools that will be more beneficial. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles OK thank you
Greetings I just recieved my cameo 24pro yesterday.
---Becky
@@DesignBundles It does, thank you. Just switched over from Cricut and just got a little confused by all the tools and options. Thank you.
Thank you; however, you should create this video close up
Thank you for your feedback!
So if I download this silhouette on my iPad do I have full access or do I also have to use a computer too?
The Silhouette Go app is very limited, you would ideally want a computer (also, not a Chromebook). Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles it did thank u
Even with my bar locked down and my roller aligned, my mat slides around when cutting. Do you know what could be causing this?
I would double check the rollers on the bar that they are locked.
@@DesignBundles Thanks for your quick reply. What ended up working was moving the right roller over to the edge of the mat instead of on the smaller width vinyl.
Can you cut foam board to make party props
Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Brittany
I am having a hard time getting my vinyl to stay locked in it keeps coming out... Is there something I am doing wrong? I am so frustrated and I watched so many videos on YT.
I would check your rollers -- are they on top of your vinyl when it goes in to hold it in place?
@@DesignBundles Thank you, I got it to work finally.
Hi, I have a random question. Am I able to use the Cameo 3 Ratchet or Kraft blade on the Portrait 2? Please help, I've been trying to an answer but nothing gives me a definite yes or no. Thank you very much
Hey Maryke, no worries, I have just what you need. Silhouette America has a chart to show what blades can be used with what machine, I'll link it for you below. But to answer your immediate question, yes, you can use the ratchet blade and the 2mm kraft blade in the Portrait 2. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hi there! If your Silhouette isn't cutting in the correct places, it may need to be recalibrated! - Dawn 🙂
you can't actually cut 24" width on this though can you it rolls out
Hi there! Are you using the Cameo 4 Pro? If so, make sure you are changing the settings for the Media Size to 24x24 as well as the cutting mat to 24x24 and you should be all set! You can view this at about 14 minutes into the video 😊
@@DesignBundles Thankyou, I set the media size to 24 x24 (it is pro) and it says media width too wide?
