You're literally the first British person I've found vlogging about university life in Korea! I was starting to question whether there were any of us over there 😂 Are there many British people (that you've seen/talked to) in uni or Seoul in general??
Hi Nicole it's nice to see your video. It makes me miss my days there. I lived 2 stories above you. I lived at 919A 701D in 2014. Thanks for the video. I think many people want to go to SNU will find it very helpful. I'll share it to my friends too 😊😊😊
Hi everyone, thank you for watching my video(s). I am still receiving many questions related to Seoul National University up to this date. I have tried my best to answer your questions, either directly, through social media, emails or other videos. However, my experience as an exchange student at SNU was in 2016 - it's been 4 years already. Therefore, I will no longer answer any questions related to this matter moving forward. If you haven't already, please take a look at my other videos covering this topic. Thank you for your understanding and good luck if you're planning to study abroad! • Part 1 of FAQ (Application Process + Buddy Program: ruclips.net/video/jSbXleQuPCI/видео.html&lc=UgxBvMfclsxX5LRqXyt4AaABAg • Part 2 of FAQ (University Courses & Dorm rules): ruclips.net/video/tPgxb01bWVU/видео.html • Seoul National University Dorm Tour: ruclips.net/video/ehEgv8bgUjo/видео.html • Post study abroad: ruclips.net/video/jhcNEVZz32k/видео.html • Seoul Vlogs playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLit3bZlU3sefvV16W2PCkraZIRE8QXnRD

hello i honestly enjoyed this video, thank you :)) but i am confused with some(many actually).. 1. what does exchange student mean? 2. how old must you be to get into SNU? 18..? 3. for exchange students how long are we able to stay in snu? like.. is the course one year? or....??? i hope you answer my questions i really want to get into snu
Hello may I asking a few questions? 1. How much is the cost? Are we pay that per month or year? Are we can choose if want to stay alone or have a roommate? 2. Is there any kind of rules if we stay at the dorm? Thank you please answer because I planning to continue my studies at there so this is very helpful
Hello, 1) The dorm that I lived in costed ₩528,000 + ₩100,000 deposit for 1 semester (you pay the deposit before you move in and the rest of the costs during the first few weeks after you've moved in). You cannot ask to live alone and you will definitely have to share your room with a roommate. 2) They have strict rules about visitors. I think it was something like you can only have visitors between 5pm - 10pm during weekdays and I can't remember the times for the weekend, but it was a bit more relaxed. All dorms are gendered and if you have anything that heats up, for example hair straighteners you must get permission to use it. You also need to take turns cleaning the dorms with your flatmates.
Hello! Thanks for the video! I'm going to SNU this March, and thanks to your video I can get a rough idea of 919 😁😁 I would like to ask, In Dormitory 919 and 921-926, is there a free shared kitchen? And in dormitory, are students allowed to use electronic cooker such as rice cooker? Thanks so much!
Hi, thanks for posting this video. Have a few questions if you dont mind :) Are all the accommodation facilities in Gwanaksa the same (i.e. four to five rooms with shared kitchen and other facilities)? Are there any single rooms available in Gwanaksa?
I am going to study at SNU next year for one semester and have soooo many questions. How much did your dorm cost? What would you say had the semester cost you in average, only taking education and living into calculation (not sure if you can answer that). Would you recommend? I watched another girl's dorm tour from SNU(her dorm looked exactly like yours) and she said that you cannot flush toilet paper in korean toilets. Did you make the same experience? (Maybe it was just their toilet, I am hoping desperetly xD ) I cannot find on their website how much korean language courses cost. I am going to be part of the business administration department so I would have to take korean classes outside of my studies in addition. Do you know how much they are? I would love you for answering me xD But anyways, have a nice day :)
The dorm I stayed at costed ₩528,000 + ₩100,000 deposit for 1 semester and food is really cheap if you eat in the SNU cafeterias (about ₩3,000 - ₩5,000 per meal). Since I was an exchange student, I didn't have to pay anything to take my course and I don't know the prices of the language courses, sorry. I saw that video too and was horrified when she said you can't flush toilet paper in Korean toilets. However, I had no issues with that in my dorm - maybe they upgraded it or something haha.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) Wow, I didn't expect you to answer that fast or at all so thank you very much! The dorm is totally affortable as is the food. Okay, so I will need to contact SNU for the language course costs. You made me very, very happy with your statement on the toilets. xD Now my nightmares can stop and I can sleep peacefully hahaha. Thanks again for all your answers! :)
Hahaha don't worry about it! The fall semester is ending soon, so I think the international office will get back to you quickly. And I felt the exact same when I realised that flushing tissue down the toilet would be fine :P have a good day.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) Hopefully, yes. Hahah first thing to do in Korea: putting tissue in the toilet and flush it to check the toilet's quality. :) thank you. you have a good day, too.
Ähm Ja If you interested how much costs language courses so you can get this information from LEI SNU website lei.snu.ac.kr/mobile/en/klec/regular/admission.jsp You can get information about costs of courses and dorm information
Hello I have a big question really important for me...I would like to know if I can stay there with my rabbit because I can’t live without him I love him so much and one year without him is imposible for me... I’m a vet student and I don’t know if there’s a different building or something because in my uni everyone goes to take lessons with their animals...I mean normally you can’t have dogs and cats but a rabbit I don’t know.. please can you answer me?? It’s really important to me!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello i have a couple of questions about studying in South Korea ! The first one is how much costs studies in your university for a whole year ? What are the costs for the dormitory ? and how did you get to the university? Did you apply online?
1) I attended SNU as spring semester exchange student and therefore only paid tuition fees to my home institution (it was approximately 1/3 of the usual amount) 2) This dormitory costed ₩528,000 + ₩100,000 deposit for 1 semester 3) I applied through my home institution. After my university accepted my application, they got me in touch with the SNU Office of International Affairs Hope this helps :)
Hi, Is it possible to cook, or may be use simple machines like bread toaster in the 919 dorm? If not, where can you do so? I really want to know this before I apply for dormitory.
i know this is late but how many time of dorm building there is cuz I know there is the global resident which is the new one I think and the yeongeon one. if I want to go to 919A dorm building is all the room is the same as urs? or do I have to pick the 5 person dorm room?
Hello! I wanted to ask when you apply for the dorms did they allow you to choose which building? (919 or 921-926) I can't stand the idea of communal bathrooms in case i don't get 919 >
The question I'm always asking is... Where do you eat? Is there a cafeteria/restaurant where you can have lunch and also eat dinner? (I guess so, but I never see it :/)
Selected courses are taught in English and yes, most SNU students and staff of SNU understand English to some degree. Please refer to my SNU FAQ videos for more info (links in the info box of this video)
I was actually wondering about how you manage your meals ? Does the dorm have a sharing kitchen or do you buy your breakfast, lunch and dinner outside ?
Hii, i live in the uk too, and I would like to ask, 1)before you went to snu did you take sixth form or college and does it matter which one you take to go to snu and which would you recommend to someone wanting to go to snu because I've just finished doing my GCSEs and I dont know if I should go to sixth form or college or if it will affect if i get into uni... 2) what English courses are there ? 3) were your roommates easy to get along with ? 4) does snu have rules about mobile phones or electronic devices because in my school mobile phones were banned 5) do you need high grades to get in snu? 6) how did you become an exchange student, do you have to apply at your school or something else ? Im sorry if theres too many questions, i would like to go to snu when im older 😄 Thanks !!
Hello fellow Brit~ 1) I attended Sixth Form before University. I only studied at SNU for 1 semester as an exchange student and I applied for the programme through my home university (University of Surrey). If you're thinking of attending SNU as an exchange student, it won't matter, but if you'd like to attend as a full time international student, I honestly don't know how to answer your question. It's all down to your results honestly. 2) It changes every semester and year. You can personally take a look at the courses on the SNU website. 3) All of them were very nice, clean and had manners besides from 1 girl who kind of ignored our existence. It's all down to luck really. 4) There are specific rules about electronic such as heaters, hair tools etc. but of course mobile phones are allowed. Majority of university students have a lot of freedom because we're treated as adults. 5) For Korean citizens, yes, because it's the top university in Korea. I'm not so sure about International students, but in general those who apply should have good results. 6) I applied through my university. Not all universities offer such opportunities, so if you're REALLY interested in being an exchange student at SNU, I recommend you check with the universities you wish to apply to in England Hope that helped. Good luck!
Hi I am from Mexico. I would like to know if I need to take an exam to enter Seoul national university. Only for the Korean language. I would really appreciate it if you could answer me. ☺️👋🏼
Hi. Thanks for this video. I want to apply for korean language courses for spring and summer semesters. Do they give korean language students this dorm too? Or there might not be enough rooms for them?
Any student can apply for the dorms. Whether or not they accept you depends on whether you fit the other requirements (health, etc.) and if they have space.
You will have to check with your university to see if they have study abroad programmes available for your course! It's also totally fine if you go there without knowing any Korean :)
If you're planning to study in Korea for your full degree, it's good to take a look at the universities you're interested online.. or apply for a university that offers you the opportunity to study abroad in Korea.
Hi again, hope you're doing well :). Canteens are really cheap on campus! Every meal costs between ₩3,000 - ₩5,000. They're dotted around the campus and there are also 2 by the dorms. There are a few other restaurants too, but I never went to them.
Hello there ! Can you rank the best 3 Universities in Korea ? Is living in Seoul cost a lot ? Did you travel to Pusan? Which one of them is the cheapest , Pusan or Seoul ? Thank you .
1. Seoul National University 2. Korea University 3. Yonsei University It depends on your lifestyle but in general I think it's pretty affordable. It seems cheaper than the UK anyway. I've never been to Busan before so I don't know
For national students, yes. It's the number 1 university in Korea. For international students, I'm not sure. For exchange students, that depends on your home institution.
I major in Media Studies with Sociology and I'm about to go into my final year. I studied at SNU during my placement year (kind of like a gap year I guess).
wooooooooooooooooooooo they provides their students 1. Bedroom 2. Living room 3. Bathroom 4. Shower 5. and other stuffs that's great can you tell us the monthly fee???????????????????????
You're literally the first British person I've found vlogging about university life in Korea! I was starting to question whether there were any of us over there 😂

Aww, hey! I really miss the exchange days too. Thank you for watching and sharing 😊
my pleasure
My dorm was eh eh not to big but not to small.....My dorm mates were very nice...only thing I hated about them was that they never clean up~!
For international students, do they teach in english or korean? I mean for undergraduate program
They offer courses taught in both Korean and English to all students, however English courses are limited.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) Also for Medical School?

If you're planning to study in Korea for your full degree, it's good to take a look at the universities you're interested online.. or apply for a university that offers you the opportunity to study abroad in Korea.
I have a question. Was it difficult to get in to this university? do they take scholarships or degrees/ A highschool certificate?
Unnie where is the kitchen
is it fully funded for international scholarship?
is it posible to get a room with out another roommate directly inside the same room?
You have a slim chance and only if you're a graduate student. Otherwise, nope.
Plz tell me what is mean by global residence dorm
is it a university dorm or a sorm outside?
What's your take on the racial discrimination in Korea? and would you recommend SNU for higher studies?
Higher studies at SNU is not a bad thing, but overall I don't think the society in Korea is open minded enough...
excuse me,, can we stay at the dorm for the whole years if we get good result?
Yes I believe so, but you will have to reapply for the 2nd semester. They'll most likely accept you again though.
Mmmm please is there in your university a major of fashion design for bachelor degree???? And how long (3or4years) please ask and tell me
Hii..I'm from Bangladesh. And could you tell me how can i get admission in seoul national university in scholarship ??please
Hi Oparijita, you will need to do your own research and personally contact Seoul National University.
How much is the pay in each year??
Hello again, if you don't mind I want to ask how much food costed in campus canteen?
Hi again, hope you're doing well :). Canteens are really cheap on campus! Every meal costs between ₩3,000 - ₩5,000. They're dotted around the campus and there are also 2 by the dorms. There are a few other restaurants too, but I never went to them.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) thank you so much for reply 😊 hope you're doing well in there 😊

I don't know the answers to these questions, I recommend you take a look at their website.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) Okay, thank you for replying
can 1 person live in snu dorm?
Just a quick question is this a hard university to get into?
For national students, yes. It's the number 1 university in Korea. For international students, I'm not sure. For exchange students, that depends on your home institution.
Nicole Cheng (NHYC) Thank you!!!! Wasn't sure what was SNU at first but thanks for making sense of it.
