I started the electrical trade at 19 years old. I definitely went thru some shit in my apprenticeship. I am now 24 years old and I’m a licensed electrician for the state of California making a good living. I have so many job opportunities I can pretty much pick and choose. Don’t give up and never stop learning. Commercial and industrial electrician here

Dang man I’m applying to my local IBEW this Friday I’m turning 19 this month hoping to get in but ik I have to prepare myself to work with some people who might be mean or just not a nice person in general. I hope I don’t go through some problems throughout my apprenticeship.

@@skazcix4141 that’s good bro I’d apply to multiple unions in the area. Do your research. Send out 3-5 applications and while you wait for the whole process to get in, you can apply to non union electrical companies. Send out another 5-10 applications and you’ll find something bro. Good luck and don’t give up fr

I’m in south Florida and considering a complete career change at 52. I’ve heard this state is one one the lowest paid for skilled trades. I make about $60k now but hate my job. Is it worth it at my age to do this?

Bryan I think as long as you feel like your in good health and your body feels good, I would never say it’s to late. I do think you starting from the bottom after making 60k could be a little challenging to start with. But with time I definitely believe you can get back to it or even more especially the more you learn. You Got This!🙏🏽

I’m a 8 month apprentice and I love it but my first 2months were annoying and hard because all I was doing was digging trenches and getting the tools and cleaning up afterwards I would get so pissed till I worked with the master electrician (owner of the company I work for ) and he liked my work ethic so he took me under his wing I have been learning quick and cool things let’s me work on some live things and it’s an amazing experience

I’m 26 I’ve been in the pool business for 6 years now, working outside is no prob for me & I stay in Dallas Texas. I’m thinking about leaving the fact that I would be leaving something I’m comfortable with for something completely unknown to me is honestly what’s putting me off from switching atm even tho I want too

Brandon why do you want to switch? Your 6 years in & you like your job.. I think electrical is good and you might have a few opportunities to branch off and do other electrical work.
