@@Kryptor360 I know I'm way late and you might not see it or care anymore, but I'm just seeing this video for the first time today lol. Sometimes during recording engineers will make the drummer record the drums and the cymbals separately, because when you're mixing and putting effects on the drums, if you want to go hard on the processing of the drums you end up getting as much cymbals as drums in your drum mics, so it kinda ruins it and you can't go as hard on the effects as you may want. So if the producer has an idea in mind that will require a ton of processing on the drums it can be a good idea to do one take of just the drums and one take of just the cymbals so you can mix them separately. Usually it's the same drummer doing each part and overdubbing them though, it's the first time I see it with two drummers playing at the same time but in different rooms to isolate them from each other, that's crazy ahahah I love it. It's the perks of having two amazing drummers in a band
that part of the song isn't great for displaying what Nate does in the song. he has an ascending bassline in the chorus. listen at 16.30. Maybe its cause I play bass but I reckon that despite the more guitar players the band has had i've heard the bass more.

That's why Rope is such a great song because Nate's funky fill-in notes early in the song made the final cut. But at this point, is it really worth it for him to gripe? Sucks but Dave is the boss. I'm sure all the side projects Nate does helps balance things out.
I wonder if people can feel the Seattle influence in this song. There's hints of "Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam" by The Vaselines which Nirvana brilliantly covered in Unplugged in NY.

It's emotions are all over the place, from hope to what I perceive to be a feeling of ending. Tons of nuance. I don't know why the song style surprised me, but it did. Then again, it comes from a place that I have no way of fully understanding. Literally and figuratively.. You guys haven't knocked my skull out of the park yet, (Yea, I'm a Nirvana hold-over) but I really like where your music comes from. So even though my tastes are on the heavier side of the spectrum (not metal.. just heavier), I feel like someday soon I'll see my skull flying over that fence. . the Gibson Dave plays sounds vintage,I just learned that its a limited edition ES 335,I love guitars and this one is becoming a favorite,I think Mr.Grohl may have something to do with the sound, just saying.This band has some of the greatest musicians alive.

Gergg Bergr Dave's said that specific original Trini is his main guitar on every Foo record. He claims that one guitar is THE Foo Fighters sound. He doesn't play it out live. His signature Gibson is a Trini copy of you can call it that, but it's new and has a more modern sound. The vintage Trini definitely has its own tone, especially that one.
