Former Dinoland cast member here. This annoys me so much because there is literally not a group of people in the parks that wanted a revamp of this area more, but this AIN’T IT - I get the popularity of these IPs but do they REALLY stand the test of time or is this going to be another reno that will be dated in less than 10 years?
Smh. I also worked the Tree and that update annoys me as well. Zootopia? Of all the potential animal themed movies Disney has in its library? Really? 😒

@@loonytunescrazyi do too. It was one of my favorite experiences during my recent Disney World trip. And i didn’t ride anything. It’s like a retro land to the 1950’s, when everyone was into automobiles and the fuel for them. The whole idea of fossils and fossil fuels, while we currently live in a world trying to get rid of internal combustion vehicles, the whole roadside Americana that Brayden talks about - i think it is FANTASTIC. Yes, I’m a baby boomer. Restaurantasaurus has a terrific staff, the gift shop is super cool, and there are very entertaining little details if you walk around. Plus - what about Donald, Daisy, Chip n Dale, plus Launchpad and Scrooge as dinosaurs? This is such a brilliant thing - chipmunks dressing up as cute dinosaurs and all that - getting rid of it is sheer stupidity.

In my opinion the relevance of the IP shouldn’t matter. I mean they made an Avatar land that is a massive hit not because of the movies. Yes they made a lot of money but the land opened years after the movie and it had largely dropped out of relevance. But the land and rides are amazing so people come.
Another less recent example of this would be Splash Mountain. No one knew the IP but it always had a line and people enjoyed the ride even in December in California when the water isn’t heated and oh it was so cold.
That said I want them to keep themes in tact. We don’t want to see cowboys walking through Tomorrowland just like we don’t want to see Cinderella in Animal Kingdom.

I absolutely hate how Disney is just destroying all thematic cohesion with Animal Kingdom. Things like Expedition Everest and even Avatar fit into what the park is about, this replacement just doesn't remotely do that. I get Disney wants IP integration, it's an easy sell, but you need IP that ACTUALLY fits the idea of Animal Kingdom. The fact that none of these additions, save for maybe Encanto with Antonio talking to animals and stuff, involve actual animal-based attractions is just stupid.

Repurposing the Dinosaur ride to Indiana Jones is such a colossal waste of time and money. Sad to lose more original rides to IP. Kids love dinosaurs and I think giving that land more money and attention to expand and improve it would've been a great move.
Parks aren't even focusing on cohesive theming anymore, it's just become "how can we cram random IP into these parks?"
See: the New Orleans "mountain" blasting 1920s jazz in the middle of a land themed after the American west in the 1800s.
Hopefully they go all out with the theming on this one, and it's not a lazy project, but I'm not optimistic. They would need to completely shut down dinoland and retheme the entire land to a central/South American area that's heavily focused on mythical ruins/animals/ etc to really tie in the animal theme and adventure of exploring unknown creatures and lands.
With the right attention to detail and investment this could be an incredible area: can we count on Disney to put this level of care into a project these days?

They would have to build some, not sure if people realize how close Dinoland is to the main park entrance, but it’s literally a 5min walk from entry to Restaurantosaurus for cast that can go back stage/cut through.
So by it being right up at the front of the park, there isn’t a _whole_ lot of land to add animal enclosures unless they commandeered some of the Oasis, but if they expanded into the area behind/on the side of Dinosaur they could maybe add a few short trails and a couple enclosures. This assuming they also relocate all of the Dinoland and front entrance infrastructure backstage ie offices, stroller storage areas, waste receptacle, etc

And you could keep dinosaur, with a story adjustment to “visiting prehistoric Australia” and change the front to like “The Great Australian Museum” or something like that to meld it into the wider area.

Any idea of the timeline for losing Dinosaur? I love that ride so much and I don’t want to miss the chance to at least take one last farewell ride😢

Why does Disney think painting an old ride = a new ride? It's embarrassing
