Outstanding designs. K'hatchet is a serious EVIOLITE contender. Pure ROCK is okay, but with Jagged Edge and a strong move pool I see potential in BL or even Standard.
With each passing video, I’ve noticed Jack is either well traveled or a culture nerd. All the random facts he has in his head about everywhere surprises me.
I actually really like the banana split dragon, the podgy feet, the banana wings, the cheerful face. One of my favourites for sure, right next to the macaron dragons from last week
plus I thought king cake was ring cake and I was really hoping for a Ouroboros (a dragon that bites its own tail) and was a tiny bit disappointed that it wasnt
Seems to have opened the door for a split evolution for K'Noggin, for the ones that chipped off too much of their head. Maybe a evo that evolves after taking a specific amount of damage during battle like how Galarian Yanmask does? Maybe their evolution involves they become super rigid physically and have a bitter personality. Maybe Rock/Dark? and then continue the cycle becoming some sort of volcano and birthing new K'Noggins. A bitter beginning but then also becoming the most important part of K'Noggin evolutionary cycle
Day 6: Asian Emerald Chillbreathe Day 7: Extended Chocolate-Head Day 8: White-Crested Wyvern Day 9: Joyful Twirl-Lizard Day 10: Shark-Headed Pinapple Drake Day 11: Cherry-Topped Banana Glider
Japan and China also feature the theme of Jade as one of the most valuable elements. So for the Day 6 one, if you're sticking with generally Asian and not specifically Japanese, you could also call it the Asian Jade Chillbreath. Otherwise, Emerald works just fine. Just something I thought I could note, your names all really fit their namesakes!
@@abrarkadabrar7829 Thanks. Im probably not gonna change it but you make an incredible point! I was just naming them based off of a dragon catalogue I have and the elements of the video's base designs.
So glad that King Cake was Included! I feel as if it's a very underrated Desert, and deserves more attention (coming from someone native from Louisiana)
I absolutely adore all of your designs for this month's Smaugust! The soft, sketched, cuddly looking style just makes them feel so much more "dessert" with the themed dragons, and it makes me want to eat stuff haha
Everytime I see these dragons I think that they can be found in a candy land inspired world! It's so fun to think about finding these dragons while traveling through the sweet sugary landscape!
K'hatchet looks cool, but I have to say everything else became a secondary thought to me once I saw the silhouette of the third stage with the macuahuitl. Very cool and unique looking weapon so I'm interested in how the last stage will look.
Yeah, I had the same thought last time! I've been quietly hoping for a macuahuitl based pokemon somewhere in the Mazzahdex, since it's one of the most iconic weapons of the Native Central/South Americans. For those unaware, the macuahuitl is a paddle-like club embedded with blades (usually sharpened obsidian). Needless to say I was excited when I saw it!
The “obsidian blade” part made me think of when I learned that scalpel blades used to be made of obsidian/obsidian knives are the best material for blades for medical use. I think it was something about how it cuts that makes cuts heal better/nicer?
I love the way your art techniques shine everytime you do something new each year I'm in awe at your style adapting to the themes, I think your cell shading is absolutely golden tier
Seeing the king cake dragon makes me very happy as I live in an area where Mardi Gras is celebrated by almost everyone! That and I just really enjoy king cake as is- I'm surprised to not see a bunch of beaded necklaces draped around it since there are so many handed out around Mardi Gras, but I think it's super cute without!
Instead of "golden eagle" I immediatly thought of "golden condor" when I read this comment. Not only am I biased because of my childhood, but also condors are endemic to South America and are less depicted than eagles, so it could be very interesting to make a new pokémon based on one
I would change K’Hatchet’s name to K’Hatchit with an ‘I’, I personally don’t like it when Pokémon names just have actual words in them (But maybe thats just a me thing) Btw I actually quite liked the banana split dragon, tho the Pina Colada is easily my favourite
Thanks for featuring my King Cake design! Loved your King Cake and Churro. These prompts have definitely been fun but challenging, many bread sweets are shades of brown so having to play around and keep them colorful and unique is a fun struggle.
I know you said that the banana split dragon was your least favorite of this batch but it was personally my second favorite. The jolly personality it had was perfect and making the wings bananas worked perfectly aswell. I love all of your work and I've been watching this channel for a long time. You've even inspired me to continue doing art as I've gotten older. Thank you Jack.
I’ll admit, I first came on this channel for the Pokémon designs. But now, I have fallen in love with your other character design videos and especially these monthly challenges. Thank you for keeping me inspired and creative. Keep up the great work! ❤️❤️
With how sketchy the lineart and rendering on these illustrations is compared to your usual clean style, this feels almost like a wizards cookbook for all these fantastical dessert dragons.
Growing up in Louisiana I love the way you've designed King Cake dragon- it really captures the energy of Mardi Gras and the jester like horns are so cute!
OHHH as someone from Louisiana, I LOVE the king cake dragon!! He looks so festive and excited, I'd love to celebrate with him!! I like to think he'd joke that he was gonna have to bring himself back next year since he has the baby with him, since if your piece of king cake has the little plastic baby in it that means you have to buy the king cake next year!
Hearing you talk about K'hatchet's dietary habits just made me think about eating a bag of chips on a windy beach day. It's like 25% sand but those are MY chips, damnit! Oh uh also your dragons are lovely and a joy to see
I loved every design you made, ESPECIALLY the banana split one I honestly think the banana wings were a very smart and unique way of interpreting the visuals of the dessert!
Slight suggestion on the churro dragon, instead of a chocolate dip you could’ve used Cajeta instead( a type of Mexican caramel sauce made from goats milk)❤
I got introduced to your channel through Pokemon designs and it is what keeps me around, but these monthly challenges are truly what elevate your channel above all others I would look to for similar content >:D Your designs are always infinitely creative and brimming with character, and I love immersing into the world of the characters you build each time, or in the case of this month's specific challenge as well as your and Claire's Mazah region designs, your own incisive commentary and insight, and it inspires me as an aspiring character/graphic designer :D
another great addition to this series! absolutely delightful designs, i'm a huge fan of the Mochi Dragon especially, its head is right up my alley :^) a fun fact, though! King Cake actually has its origins in Europe, and is associated with Epiphany and thus typically eaten during Christmas through New Year's. it's very popular in French and Spanish-speaking countries, as well as Portugal!
I like the tidbit about eating lichen, apparently at GF since Gen I they take into consideration how and what a Pokémon eats and how intelligent they are compared to humans and other Pokémon, so seeing its eating habits informing its lore and design makes it feel more real to me! Plus the funny rocks having chomp marks would help make a more unique area wherein they live on the Mazah map.
I quite like the King Cake design especially!! Though maybe I'm a bit biased since my extended family is from Lousiana and although we've moved away from them, we still acknowledge Mardi Gras and celebrate in our own way! For those confused about the plastic baby, it's supposed to be baby Jesus and whoever gets the baby in their slice is tasked with bringing the king cake for next year!
I was enjoying this style of drawing as much as your normal style. I can understand the color making them feel same-y, but the body styles definitely weren’t. Ones like the king cake certainly showed the difference as soon as any extra color is added
