I can't believe it's been a year since Frizzard, Zarcoil, Suchip and Suchobile were introduced to the Mazah region, glad to see the new Smaugust fakemon
i'm so glad you haven't restricted yourself to making this month's pokemon explicitly dragon type, leaves so much breathing room for the designs to grow. k'noggin looks so sick, looking at the silhouettes its evos seem to turn into some kind of speedy physical sweeper, like gigalith's opposite
I know that this smaugust doesn’t have a full story, but I like to imagine that all of these dragons are being summoned/made by a little old witch in. A Hansel and gretel esc candy house making a “cookbook” of how to make all these dragons
I want this to be a cute manga series about that witch’s granddaughter journeying through a magical land for exotic ingredients to literally make new friends. Her granny accidentally got turned into tiny a sand-witch dragon, and perches on her shoulder giving snarky advice.
I absolutely love that the Jelly Donut Dragon(that's something I never thought I'd have to say) has eggs that are rice balls, perfect reference to the pokemon anime.
Maybe the Pokémon can still be dessert themed. Just brighten K'noggin's colors, and you got yourself a Rock Candy Dragon, instead being a Rock-Fairy Type.
I ADORE K'noggin's shiny, it's amazing the blending of the colors and the body shapes. Your artwork is always phenomenal and this'll be extra fun to watch over august.
Loving the textures on the first four dragons, Jack! They came out looking so fun and delicious! I also need K'Noggin to be real (great name btw!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dragons are the magical creature equivilent to pizza. Of course there are some basics about it, crust, sauce, toppings and more. You can change and redesign it to fit whatever you want, you can even change the basics of it if you feel adventurous or competent enought to tackle it. You can change a lot about a pizza, Its style, its approach, its makeup and ingredients. Even if you have two pizzas that almost have nothing in common, you can still recognize that those two dishes are pizza, dragons are no different. Thats why I love both. *TL;DR: Dragons are like pizza*
Please do a golden eagle based Pokemon. I know I keep on asking but I can't help it. It's on the Mexican flag and you are basing the region on Mexico. Added: Okay so taking a second look at the silhouette of the legendary Pokemon debuting in the last week of Smaugust I'm getting the feeling that it be a golden eagle/dragon Pokemon. If so then I think the golden eagle Pokemon should be a mythical Pokemon that guides the player/MC. Which is fitting since the Aztecs travelled constantly until they saw the eagle on a cactus with a snake in it's talons and took it as a sign from the gods to build their new home where they stood.
@@brag363 But that's more of a bald eagle with Native American vibe. It feels kind of cheap to give it a Mazah form to fill the golden eagle spot. And while I do love Braivary, as a Mexican I would rather see them create a new Pokemon.
I love the style of the dragons, they really do well to convey that the are base on food. Also I like the Pokémon reference with those jelly donut dragon eggs
4:17 I know that this is entirely because I watched lots of Strawberry Shortcake when I was younger, but when I saw the blueberry muffin prompt, I immediately thought of a wise, intelligent, and maybe secluded dragon. Instead, you gave me a physically strong but derpy one. This is not a complaint. I love your design.
Rock types are so underrated, please make more!! Preferably pure rock types too, they always end up looking cool. I feel like mons like Onix didn’t need the earth-typing, and would be more flavourful as a pure rock type.
13:22 I think it was either the Aztecs or Mayans that took the shards of the that stone and embedded it into a wooden club. You see it used in the movie Road to El Dorado during that one song but it was being used to bust out a watermelon. And it seems that the final evo of Knogging will either have a nose like that or a weapon.
You should also start doing dinovember, where it's a drawing challenge but based around dinosaurs. It seems like a lot of lists are specific genera instead of just prompts that look like dinosaurs, but it'd be fun to see on your channel. Maybe a story could be related to some kind of jurassic park styled zoo?
I absolutely love the idea to combine desserts and dragons. It’s so whimsical and charming!! As cool and badass big scary dragons are, I really have such a soft spot for goofy Dragon Tales/stuffed animal dragon designs.
i really love the sketchy nature of these pieces! obviously your fully rendered art is incredible but seeing the looseness and fun in the sketches is really cool too
The bussines expense joke made me crack genius and lovely dragons! My favorite Pokémon is appletun and I was so excited when smaugusts theme was dessert dragons
This year’s prompt has been an extra challenge and I’m loving it! I don’t have much experience in making food creatures so it’s been fun learning how to make them work.
I love your Mazah region stuff but I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see more videos like these! Hearing how happy you were and your creative process and how loose you were with your art was just inspiring to watch.
I love the idea these dragons were made by a baker who brought them to life with their magic, like the gingerbread men, except the baker didn't want to eat them. Maybe they did who knows. Maybe the baker has a giant garden for all the desert dragons to roam. These designs are amazing! I love how some look adorable yet still fierce. I would want to own them.
Yes I love this so much seeing all the designs and rendering styles that change every theme and your smaugust dragons gave me motivation to work hard at rendering different textures
I actually just finished rewatching Smaugust 2021 (and all your other Mazah Region on content) at the start of the month, so I'm pretty hyped for this!
Okay, hear me out: bear claw dragon plushie. Because that cute, chonky dude looks like he'd make a perfect huggable friend to me...and I would totally buy one.
Hey man not to be dramatic but I'm beyond obsessed with your dragons this year. These are, quite genuinely, some of the most appealing and delightful designs ever created by human hands. If there's any way I could convince you to fund a book, hardcover or paperback, containing the complete set once they're all out, I would. Maybe I'm just a bit beastiary crazy, but I would adore being able to pick up a book and look at that jelly donut sweetie when I'm feeling blue. You have created joy in my heart, thank you for making these
Omg these look so cute! I especially adore the lil macaron dragons, I actually made some before during my hs shop class, definitely takes a lot of effort to get the shells to not crack, lol Can't wait to see the next batch of dragons, keep up the amazing work!
Seeing what you are able to create by yourself, and what the actual company creates for the new games, makes me wonder where the pokemon franchise would be right now if they had you. Honestly, it's amazing!
I love bear claws. Whenever my folks would go to town and get donuts I’d always say “I’ll take a bear claw” even to this day I still truly enjoy bear claws.
These designs remind me so much of the game Candy Land. I can see a Candy Land character running into these dragons while traversing across the sugar filled land
I know a connection between dragons and dessert: gluttony and greed, the sins of excess. When I think of gluttony, I imagine a fat man chowing down on tables heaped with lots of fatty foods and sweet treats, and a dragon is often depicted standing atop massive piles of gold and jewels, gathered with the sole intention of comparing wealth with other dragons
Something about the anatomy of the jellyfish dragon heavily reminds me of pukei-pukei from monster hunter. Physionomy and posture, and its big head with long slimy tongue. Nice work i really like this one.
Bear claw for me has always been a simple bear paw shaped molasses cookie, I want to see this kind of bear claw too! I really like how they look like creatures first, and sweets second!
The pastry dragons look so soft and pleasant! The whole feeling reminds me of the sweets shops on Disneyland’s Main Street! Flint knapping is an interesting process and I’m glad your making a ‘mon based on it. Depending on how you hit the stone, you can get different angles and shapes out of the rock. You can also use antlers instead of hammering stones so maybe a different Pokémon with antlers would come into contact with them and they compete for territory? Then again, I don’t know how well this process works with volcanic rock??
this may the most wholesome series you’ve created yet! You have such passion for everything you do and the creative process of your designs never fail to fascinate me. Keep up the amazing work!
“The Pokemon won’t necessarily follow the prompt of Just Deserts”
Ok but hear me out… *rock candy*
...I'm listening 👀
Fairy/rock rock candy dragon
Sparkly candy the one that pops in your mouth I forgot what they where called

I KNOWWW
Samee
It's also been a long time ever since Mermay 2021
Think about the starters bro it feels like just a couple months ago they were made
Wow you’re right. Geez
Oh the rice balls as jelly donut eggs. That’s a clever reference Jack.
Those aren’t rice balls, they’re Brock’s jelly donuts.
Made me go ‘kekekekekeh’
"These donuts are great! Jelly-filled are my favorite!"
I see his art on his Instagram, when it went up I had a good laugh
LMAO.

Thank you so much for including the REAL "Jelly Donuts" XD
Obsolutely loving this year's smaugust so far, they're all super adorable and tasty-looking
Whenever Jack does an Art Challenge for the Month, he somehow makes the month go faster...
Now the real question, would the Jelly Doughnut dragon use a frying pan as a drying pan?
Maybe the Pokémon can still be dessert themed.
Just brighten K'noggin's colors, and you got yourself a Rock Candy Dragon, instead being a Rock-Fairy Type.
we already have charcopal and geocaprion though
The idea of a bear dragon is beautiful, I actually did something like that for a fakemon starter of a region I’ve been making for a year now

Golden eagle, rock/flying. Vs. fire type serpent.
I love this new loose style, really captures the vibe of an old recipe book and your jelly donut dragon already has my heart!
I love the style of the dragons, they really do well to convey that the are base on food.

The idea of Jack buying 2 bags full of macarons with the excuse of using them as reference is an image I cannot get out of my mind
anyone else think when he said jelly donut he was going to make a riceball dragon as a reference to brock’s “ jelly donuts”

As a Baker....I'm mighty excited and help but drool and adore these amazing designs!
The blue macaroon dragon is a mood-
Honestly, the bear claw dragon really reminds me of Quetzal from Dragon Tales.
I hadn’t noticed all the dragons were dessert themed right up until the macaroon dragons, what a sweet surprise… haha
