The guy slipping on the boat ramp at the 5:15 mark tells you how slick that ramp is. Do they ever shut the ramps down when they are slick like this? I also believe the Jeep is to small to trailer that boat.
DAMN! I missed him falling. Steve I live in Clearwater area, and I know of a handful of ramps that pressure wash them every few days or when needed. That 5 or 10 bucks I pay to park my truck and trailer basically guarantee my truck sand trailer are safe, the bathrooms are clean, the ramp is clean, and most of the time theres a bait shop. I hate paying to park, but it supplies funds for a better day on the water ultimatly.
All ramps in Florida are slick when wet, even mere hours after pressure washing. The only way to mitigate this is to install traction grooves in the ramp to allow tires to bite the groove edges. You can also apply a little sand to the ramp if you have a hard time with traction and it does the same thing.
Why do they build the ramps with smooth concrete? We build ramps with very aggressive grooves or concrete logs in New England. We have 8’ foot tides so our all tide ramps get a lot of growth on them.
It's just the "times", we live in...Everyone is rightfully terrified of those charges. Security can't touch anyone, or he's fired. "No exceptions"...Just paruse court channels as to why...Did the right thing. The guy with the Ram did that tow exactly right, nice and careful and easy, kept his truck up higher on the more level part of the ramp, didn't romp on it. Good job from the Good Samaritan. Hey, at least they saved the trailer even if the Jeep's totaled?
I watched this on another channel and you can hear him snap it out of park, he goes past reverse by seeing the reverse lights come on, then he is revving the snot out of the jeep but can't hear or see any wheel spin at all. I think he was in neutral and panicked big time. Jmo.
There HAS to be more to this story. He must have jumped out of that Jeep with is still in reverse or neutral. There is no way that it slid down to its roof level, especially once the boat became buoyant and wasn't a factor.
@@therealthreadkilla I did, and I would get spinning tires but sliding back to the roofline makes no sense. Also I later found another channel that recorded the same incident from a better angle and you can see his wheels rolling backwards. I also think that the wife fired up the boat and put it in reverse while still connected to the teailer but not 100% it was in gear. Hard to tell.
@@dlloyd6300 you can see the wash from the engine, she put the boat in reverse which pulled the car further out, they realise the boat is still hooked to the trailer too late
@@MB-hq6yq Yup, Jeep was sliding and when she jumped in the boat and threw it in reverse with the boat still attached to the trailer by the winch. She basically pulled the Jeep the rest of the way into the water.
There really isn't that much more to the story other then the fact that wifey threw the boat in reverse while it was still attached to the trailer, thus pulling the jeep further into the water. 🤔
@@tishbrett Probably not because it would have gotten squirrely trying to push it up by the trailer tongue, but at least it wouldn't have gone further in the water if she didn't put it in reverse. Should have just tied the trailer off to the dock as soon as possible to try to hold the rig in place and then waited for the RAM to show up.
If they would have walked it back with bow and stern lines from the dock, it would have been easy to throw a rope round a dock post. The people I boat with launch their boats that way. And if they see someone with their hands full trying to handle a boat and a child people are tripping over themselves to help out.
The bottom of our local ramp is exposed at low tide and is very slippery with the marine growth on it. No worries in a 4wd. But 2wds reverse down fine but with the weight of the boat on the trailer they’re stuck wheel spinning. We’ve towed plenty out. Some vehicles drop off the bottoms of the ramp a couple of feet to the sand then dig themselves half way to China trying to get back.
Actually they do, apparently this ramp was recently pressure washed. It's still very slippery, honestly the moment he stepped off the brakes it was over. I got a new boat last year and had to get a new SUV to tow it. I did one trip in my old SUV and it felt dangerous. Some people don't realize that it shouldn't struggle that much to pull it. I saw the new GMC has autopilot with a trailer attached and I think a lot of these people at these ramps need something like that.
That crap can grow back in a matter of days. It's a fruitless effort. That's why most ramps are poured with some sort of heavy texture, like ribbing, to help with traction.
I always do that to help get the forward momentum going then throw it in neutral and kill it as it's coming out of the water. But we have 2x the towing capacity in our vehicle compared to the boat weight.
Blue Ribbon to wifey for noticing the Jeep slipping, springing into action, and throwing the boat into reverse thus ensuring that she pulls the trailer and Jeep into the briney deep.
Looks to me like they were leaving. Boat was cabled to trailer. Keep starts to slip and wife backs boat (trying to get off trailer) and pulls Jeep into water.
Yeah, that is how I saw it too. It looks like she is trying to help, but instead pulls the jeep in. You can see the motor is running, and it looks like she has it in reverse, but it is subtle. Given that the boat is fully cranked in, anything except forward is going to make it worse.
Nope, the boat engine wasn't even on at that time! She just tried starting it wich did not work! There is nothing indicating a running boat motor, you see that in the water pretty obvious if it runs.
yeah wifey isnt going to hear the end of that one. Boat was still hooked up to the trailer and jeep and she started the boat right up and pulled it out more LMAOOO
Don’t overlook the damage and corrosion caused by salt water, especially on electronics. I would tackle a save on one from fresh water but wouldn’t touch one that was sunk in sat water.
You’ve ignored the fact that all systems on modern vehicles are slaves to the onboard computers. Which cannot even briefly take salt water immersion. Every board in that thing is toast. And insurance ain’t gonna cover operator stupidity that caused the whole thing. Salvage yard time.
@@dock_yard1149 This isn't a modern vehicle, it's a Jeep. At the very least the tub is worth some money. And insurance covers stupidity all the time, that's why you buy it (I'm swapping a YJ body onto my CJ right now, not using any of the electrics from the YJ.) If it didn't cover things that were the driver's fault, there would be no point in getting collision coverage since by definition it's the driver's fault.
If wifey was able to quickly put the boat in gear and apply forward thrust, would the boat have enough torque (and the trailer have enough friction on the boat) to push the jeep out of the water or at least stop it from sinking futher?
She had it in reverse and pulled the jeep in deeper... Not throwing any shade here, it's really difficult to keep your wits about you when things go completely sideways... Comedy of errors
@@TheJscottbaird Glad someone else noticed..ya unhook at the top of the ramp, before the tires even touch water, so dumb shit like this doesn't happen.. Literally four minutes after the first "it sunk" they finally had it unhooked. FOUR minutes? Was it Fort Knox holding it together?

That 5 or 10 bucks I pay to park my truck and trailer basically guarantee my truck sand trailer are safe, the bathrooms are clean, the ramp is clean, and most of the time theres a bait shop. I hate paying to park, but it supplies funds for a better day on the water ultimatly.
All ramps in Florida are slick when wet, even mere hours after pressure washing. The only way to mitigate this is to install traction grooves in the ramp to allow tires to bite the groove edges. You can also apply a little sand to the ramp if you have a hard time with traction and it does the same thing.
It is to small for that boat indeed big wheels doesn't help either. In a slippery terrain you need narrow tires to maximize traction .
@@altergreenhorn you can't be serious with that ignorant comment, right?
@@charlieodom9107 yeah all the ramps i use have the grooves
Perfect sales video for a RAM!
Why do they build the ramps with smooth concrete? We build ramps with very aggressive grooves or concrete logs in New England. We have 8’ foot tides so our all tide ramps get a lot of growth on them.
thats the only way to build a ramp
Most people back the trailer to far in. I always look where the slime line is on the ramp and my tires never touch it ever, never had a problem
And most by me in the NE are longer and more gradual for that reason.
Wow ❗️
Great coverage ❗️

@@brentfarvors192 Mother of God...
What a way to start the day! Wow!!
The boat actually pulled the jeep into the water, because of the slippery moss on the boat ramp
Jmo.
Probably had the jeep insured for more than it's worth and had it all planned. Jmo
What was the other channel?
I’d like to see that,
Btw, the wife pulled the Jeep into the water with the boat going into reverse.
Can hear the gear grind too. He hella panicked and just forgot how to shift.
That was a pleasant shot block 😊
There HAS to be more to this story. He must have jumped out of that Jeep with is still in reverse or neutral. There is no way that it slid down to its roof level, especially once the boat became buoyant and wasn't a factor.
Did you see the guy walking down the ramp before the pull out? Fell on his ass like he was walking on ice.
I love the bob marley in the background as they were hooking it up. Unreal!
The boat still being connected to the trailer didn’t help, while the wife threw it in reverse. Way to go RAM!
Exactly the wife pulled the Jeep into the water when she reversed. They could’ve saved it if she didn’t do anything.
If she put boat in forward it would of pushed it back up the ramp
@@tishbrett Probably not because it would have gotten squirrely trying to push it up by the trailer tongue, but at least it wouldn't have gone further in the water if she didn't put it in reverse. Should have just tied the trailer off to the dock as soon as possible to try to hold the rig in place and then waited for the RAM to show up.
If they would have walked it back with bow and stern lines from the dock, it would have been easy to throw a rope round a dock post. The people I boat with launch their boats that way. And if they see someone with their hands full trying to handle a boat and a child people are tripping over themselves to help out.
Wifey should have stayed on the dock. Looks like she pulled the Jeep and the trailer by popping it into reverse. Smooth move Ex-lax!
Now that's a great advert for the RAM... Go Dodge.
Good Samaritan
Also good advertisement for Dodge Ram 😊
AT 5:15 the dude in the background lands hard on his back after slipping on the ramp.
Would of been awkward if the black point croc 🐊 found his was into the jeep and slid out when he opened the back 😆
The dude with the truck will tell this story til he dies. Not all heroes wear capes.
I’m wondering, are ramps ever power washed or sand blasted to get rid of the slippery slime?
They should be
it would have to be done every time the tide goes back out.
@@whataqtify what they need is a tow vehicle that has the capacity to pull what they are towing. These people didn’t.
That crap can grow back in a matter of days. It's a fruitless effort. That's why most ramps are poured with some sort of heavy texture, like ribbing, to help with traction.
Trucker Clock, I like the way you handle your rig.
Why didn’t he put the boat in forward thrust and kept the jeep from entering water ?
I always do that to help get the forward momentum going then throw it in neutral and kill it as it's coming out of the water. But we have 2x the towing capacity in our vehicle compared to the boat weight.
Blue Ribbon to wifey for noticing the Jeep slipping, springing into action, and throwing the boat into reverse thus ensuring that she pulls the trailer and Jeep into the briney deep.
Looks to me like they were leaving. Boat was cabled to trailer. Keep starts to slip and wife backs boat (trying to get off trailer) and pulls Jeep into water.
....when she SHOULD have powered up forward.
Yeah, that is how I saw it too. It looks like she is trying to help, but instead pulls the jeep in. You can see the motor is running, and it looks like she has it in reverse, but it is subtle. Given that the boat is fully cranked in, anything except forward is going to make it worse.
Oh, she was definitely in reverse!!!!! You can see her slamming the throttle around in both directions!
Jeep was already in the salt water it was too late for the car even if she didn't mismatch forward and reverse i a panic
Nope, the boat engine wasn't even on at that time! She just tried starting it wich did not work! There is nothing indicating a running boat motor, you see that in the water pretty obvious if it runs.
The tandem axle trailer, already tells me he is exceeding the vehicles tow limit.
yeah wifey isnt going to hear the end of that one. Boat was still hooked up to the trailer and jeep and she started the boat right up and pulled it out more LMAOOO
Ya gotta make a bad situation worse
@Blue Friend Water doesn’t move like that if it’s just idling. Why was she moving the steering wheel??? Like use common sense. Must be lacking it
Shocking that RAM pulled it out. That jeep is farked. Big boat for jeep.
Depending on the part of Florida he’s from, he might be used to “pull me out before the cops show up”
The one thing dodges are good for is pulling someone who needs it, a short distance, when they have solid footing. And god I love them for that
ive hydrolocked jeeps multiple times. just give it a few oil changes itll be fine. id pay $1200 for that jeep.
I'd pay that too, because I would put all new running gear in it and get rid of the shit it has in it!
Hats off to wife. Everyone wants one of those
If wifey was able to quickly put the boat in gear and apply forward thrust, would the boat have enough torque (and the trailer have enough friction on the boat) to push the jeep out of the water or at least stop it from sinking futher?
No she just would have jammed the bow into the clamshaw.
She had it in reverse and pulled the jeep in deeper... Not throwing any shade here, it's really difficult to keep your wits about you when things go completely sideways... Comedy of errors
Ahh no
@@TheJscottbaird Glad someone else noticed..ya unhook at the top of the ramp, before the tires even touch water, so dumb shit like this doesn't happen..
Literally four minutes after the first "it sunk" they finally had it unhooked. FOUR minutes? Was it Fort Knox holding it together?
@@chris6054 with a ramp that steep, I back it up, float it a little, then I disconnect the strap... Just my 2 cents... YMMV
Ram again for the win baby 😀😀😀!!!!!
Wow... I have seen a lot of videos showing vehicles after they are already swamped, but this is the first I have seen where it happens. I am assuming that is salt water, in that case, the only thing really "saved" is the trailer, that Jeep is done.
@@openphoto No doubt, don't know how much a wrecker would be for a job like that, and I really would not want to find out.
Yeah they may be able to salvage the tires
