    DESCRIPTION
    Welcome to HowFixit! In this video, I'll take you through a step-by-step guide on how to disassemble Asus X550, X550C, X550D, X550E, X550J, X550L laptop, clean its fans, and replace the thermal paste. Our comprehensive tutorial will equip you with the knowledge of fixing laptop overheating issues. From disassembling your laptop to cleaning the fan and heatsink from dust and applying thermal paste, we've got you covered. Say goodbye to overheating and hello to improved performance!
    Laptop Disassembly Guide:
    Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    Fan Cleaning Techniques:
    Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
    Thermal Paste Replacement:
    Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. Hit the play button now and let's get started!

    I have an asus n550jk and I suspect it's thermal throttling because the fans are not ramping up when running under gaming load. What would cause them to do this? I have just removed the fans and they are dirty, also the thermal paste job isn't the best. Would it be good that I clean and replace it? Another thing I noticed is the factory thermal paste leaked under the cpu little plastic cover and got all over the exposed pins, is this bad?

    No red color option is found in display color calibration.
    My display in other laptop is ok,,
    External display also ok,,,
    What may be probable cause of red light absent?

    • @MrOratorio

      It's an FPC connector, meaning you have first to unclip the cable manually before removing it. There's a little plastic part that you must turn up in order to be able to remove the cable. You can see it in the video, he is making 2 moves to get out each cable :) . Most of the time while disassembling electronics, you should not have to grab something hardly or you might damage it

    GPU & CPU same heat pipe...does it overheat?

    • @kostyay.4071
      @kostyay.4071 6 лет назад +6

      It doesn't "just" overheat. First, you run into the TDP limits; immediately, clock speeds are throttled; and "only" after that, you wound up with your jaw-dropping 90C/194F... On both CPU _and_ GPU.
      Look. Core i5-6300HQ processors draw no less than 25+5 watts, 25 from cores alone, and at least 4.9 are spent on servicing PCI-E PHY (if discrete graphics are present and are under 100% load). You'd get these digits from reading a special register, exposed through Intel XTU or HWiNFO.
      Now, onto GTX 950M. The reference board with GM107, as measured by NVIDIA, consumes 60W. The PSU of ASUS K550 delivers 90 watts, so NVIDIA are definitely not exaggerating.
      Now, you tell me if a thing shown @ 11:25 can dissipate all that.
      An example of how you can read the current "PKG_PWR_SKU" value:
      www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/Notebooks/Dell/Inspiron_15_7000_7577/GTX_1050/stresstest_furmark_prime.jpg
      See "Table 1. A Comparison of Maxwell GM107 to Kepler GK107" for GM107 power target:

    • @howfixit
      @howfixit  8 лет назад +2

      самому сделать можно, это либо шлейф, как Вы српаведливо отметили, либо матрица. Дигностируется следущим образом: снимается рамка: если дефект появляется\пропадает при перегибании\пережимании\шевелении шлейфа, то соответсвенно шлейф; если проявляется\пропадает, когда слегка пальцем нажимаете на нижнюю часть матрицы (на железную рамку) то тогда матрица; но кроме этого на всякий случай переподсоедените шлейф с обоих сторон, проблема может быть и в этом, хотя вероятность не велика.

    I did this and ended up ruining the videocard of my laptop due to static. The screen of my laptop is just black even though it’s turned on. I won’t recommend doing this if you’re inexperienced and don’t have the proper tools such as gloves and static cloth.

      @@muhammederenalrz2703 For the record, I did not change the paste, like he does in the video. Yes, I am almost certain that you can exchange the HDD for an SSD, and yes, this will give you a massive speed boost. The boot time went from 2 minutes to 15 seconds for me. However, I have seen that in some cases the X550 doesn't have a HDD access, so you need to disassemble all of it in order to do it, like in the video.
      In addition, I highly recommend that you add some RAM if you still have a slot available. Just make sure it is compatible with the existing RAM: in my case, it needed to be the DDR3*L* - the L was important because it is less power demanding.
