Muslim: Do you believe Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice?
      Christian: Yes
Muslim: Doesn't God describe human sacrifice as abhorent in the bible ?
Christian : Well yes, but Jesus was not just human he was God.
Muslim: But in the bible (Timothy 6:16) it says God is immortal, which means He does not die.
Christian: Depends on what you mean by death. Jesus said, Whoever knows me shall not die.
Muslim: Death is the separtion of the body and soul.
Christian: Like I said, I don't really believe in death.
Muslim: So why is the death of Jesus on the cross so important to you? If his death isn't any different than your death.
Christian: Well because he was God.
Muslim: But we already established God is immortal according to the Bible.
Christian: It was the human part of Jesus that died.
Muslim: But we already established God abhors human sacrifice.
Christian: ......It's hard to explain, you just have to have faith and believe that Jesus died for your sins and it doesn't matter what you do in life, you will go to heaven.
Muslim: But, that hardly sounds fair. An innocent man has to die so criminals can continue to be criminals until their last day and still be saved?
Christian: That's it in a nut shell.
Muslim: That's a nutty nut shell.

Jesus said it himself: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:6 Why are we gonna ignore Jesus the literal Son of God but accept the word of a prophet that lived centuries after Jesus??

    • @summer5145
      @summer5145 4 месяца назад +18

Muslims agree that he was the way and the truth. The WAY not the DESTINATION. He was the way to the Father during his time.
Moses was the way during his time so was Noah, so was David, Solomon and so was Muhammad peace be upon them all. They were all the way that led to the Father.
In order to come to the Father you had to follow the Prophet of the time. Prophethood is a mighty high station. The problem is Christians think of it as something casual and insignificant. They're reluctant to call Jesus a Prophet.
The only time they call Jesus a Prophet is when you ask them about the Prophecy of Deut 18:18 which talks of a mighty warrior Prophet like Moses. Then they insist Jesus is a prophet.

*Oral Traditions* the Quran was memorized by prophets companions, this provided a reliable reference to cross check..
*close companions* the committee appointed by Uthman had many companions of prophet Muhammad included in it, they were with Muhammad when Quran was revealed.. that’s historical!
*Early Manuscripts* the codices of uthman match the early Quranic manuscript that were found!!’
*Consensus* its standardization was accepted by the Muslim community, including key Islamic figures, suggesting broad agreement on its authenticity.
*Continuous Transmission* The Qur'an has been consistently memorized and reduced across generations, without any significant variation from the Uthmanic codex, indicating that it reflects the original.
The various Qur'anic recitations, such as Hafs, Warsh and Khalaf, derive from the same original text that Uthman standardized. The variations are in pronunciation, diacritical marks, minor spelling and small word differences. These recitations reflect the authentic diversity of dialects during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and are all considered legitimate.

Jesus is the only way to salvation. Yes, God could simply choose to forgive us, but how would that show us the true love and mercy he has for us? He chose to demonstrate his true love for us through forgiveness through Jesus. Why do we need Jesus? Because our actions have consequences, and somebody has to pay for them. Take this analogy: A son commits robbery, his punishment is jail. A parent shows his love for the son by bailing him out of jail and trying to get him to follow the right path, because a parent does not want to see the son suffer in jail.
If there was no punishment for our actions, we would just keep doing wrong. But it is through the love of the parent (the love of God) that we learn to appreciate him and see how much he loves us. He paid the price for us through Jesus and thus freeing us from sin.
Now if you reject the father's help and want to continue living in captivity then fine. Pay the price yourself for your own actions. God gives you that choice.

He gathered all the written copies of the Quran, compared them to the original oral recitations that had been passed down from the Prophet Muhammad, and then had them burned to ensure the preservation and accuracy of the holy text. While I love Cliffe's courage and knowledge of the Bible, his answer to the Muslim's questions ultimately felt unsatisfactory.
    He askes, "why can't I pay?" - 0:31
and additionally at 0:40 "How is [Christ paying for what I did wrong] fair to Christ? Isn't God just towards all?"
and then at 4:35 , "How is it morally ok for someone else to be dying for my sins? Why can't God forgive me on his own?"
and then finally at 4:45, "Why [does someone have to pay the death penalty for my sins]?"
I'll attempt to rephrase these together:
The way I see it, his questions are thus:
Q1: "Why is God not just if he forgives my sins without demanding satisfaction?"
    and
Q2: "Why am I unable to make satisfaction for my sins on my own? Why do I need Christ to die to make satisfaction?"
    and
Q3: "How can God be just if he punishes someone else for my sins?"
    And what is Cliffe's answer?
1:18 Here he replies with a question of his own, "How does God forgive?" and then asks as a follow up, "Is forgiveness simply excusing wrong? Is forgiveness overlooking wrong?"
And then a bit more with, "Is forgiveness acting like, 'Oh well, boys will be boys, Nazis will be Nazis, Hamas will be Hamas, Israel will be Israel.'"
From this, we know what Cliffe says God's forgiveness is not, viz. it is not excusing or overlooking wrong, or live and let live.
4:36 "God can forgive you, but God has chosen to be just, to be the judge, and the penalty for sin is death. Someone's gotta pay the death penalty for my sins".
4:58 "My consequence of [devaluing you, and thereby devaluing God] is I deserve death. Now either I'm gonna pay that death penalty or the judge is going to take my place, and that's what Christ claimed to be doing, to be the judge, God, taking my place, giving his life for me."
In other words, God's justice demands that a sinner dies. Because of this, Jesus takes on the punishment so that we don't have to bear God's justice, and yet He is satisfied.
That is to say, Cliffe is teaching Penal Substitution. Now, what was the Muslim's response?
5:06 "God is that bloodthirsty? I don't think that's a God I want to believe in."
To which Cliffe responds, "Then don't believe in him". This almost sounds like a tacit acceptance of the claim that God is bloodthirsty. If that's not the case, Cliffe, then let me know.
Perhaps that is the only answer you can give if you believe in Penal Substitution, and why I am ultimately dissatisfied with his answer. He left this Muslim thinking that God is like those of the Aztec gods, who is only happy because of the blood of innocent victims. Did he walk away knowing the love of God? Did he walk away having a greater appreciation for the relationship God desires for us? I severely doubt it.
Q1: "Why is God not just if he forgives my sins without demanding satisfaction?"
    - God is ultimately the one offended by any sin.
"Against you [God], you alone have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your eyes. So that you are just in your word, and without reproach in your judgment." (Psalm 51:6 NASB; brackets are my addition for context)
    - God's forgiveness flows from his compassion and mercy. How does Jesus describe the way God forgives?
"That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.’ Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan". (Matthew 18:23-27 NASB)
Who stepped up to pay the loan in this parable so that the master could forgive the loan? No one. Was the master acting unjust? No, it's money owed to him, not someone else. What did the servant do that "moved [the master] with compassion"? Begged for mercy.
A1: God is just if He forgives sin without satisfaction since the satisfaction is ultimately owed to Him. The offence is against Him alone, so He is not depriving anyone of justice should he forgive the debt of a sin. This is, however, because of his compassion for repentant sinners who in turn are merciful. This is not excusing or overlooking wrong, but rather, giving a chance to return to right relationship with God. How does the master treat the servant when he later refuses mercy to a fellow servant? The master punishes him justly. What would've happened had the servant never begged for patience? He would've be sold, along with his family and possessions.
Is God more like a simple judge, beholden to the law (and therefore beneath the law), or is God more like a king, with the authority to judge and pardon according to His grace?
Q2: "Why am I unable to make satisfaction for my sins on my own? Why do I need Christ to die to make satisfaction?"
This really is two separate questions, but they get answered similarly.
Firstly, who does our sin affect? God, the infinite being. Secondly, what is meant by satisfaction? In the Gospel of Matthew above, it is likened to settling accounts, so saying satisfaction means something like atonement, restitution, or compensation of a debt is appropriate.
If I sin against God, the infinite being, then I have deprived an infinite being of something (obedience to God), and that deprivation itself is infinite by virtue of the offended party. In order to make atonement for an infinite deprivation, the restitution must itself be infinite.
So why am I unable to make satisfaction for my sins on my own? Because I would not to be capable of making infinite atonement because as a finite being, I am decidedly incapable of doing so. Thankfully, Christ is an infinite being, so any act of atonement He does, which can be done for my sake since we're talking about debts and not prison sentences, is itself an infinite satisfaction.
Note this means Christ didn't HAVE to die in order for Him to achieve atonement for my sins. Any of His actions, as an infinite person, would suffice. Rather, it's more appropriate to say He chose to die as the atonement for our sins. So why did He choose this? That's a big question, so I'll just have to leave it at, "It shows how much God loves us!"
Q3: "How can God be just if he punishes someone else for my sins?"
This is pretty straight forward: He can't be just if he punishes an innocent person for something he/she didn't do. To say otherwise is to say God would have to damn the just to save the unjust. If that really is the case, then I can't see why Cliffe isn't a Muslim. For in Islam, Allah is said to take the sins from the backs of Muslims and put them on Christians and Jews so that Muslims can enjoy paradise.
Pulling from the website, Answering Islam, by Sam Shamoun:
"Abu Burda reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle said: No Muslim would die but Allah would admit IN HIS STEAD a Jew or a Christian in Hell-Fire. 'Umar b. Abd al-'Aziz took an oath: By One besides Whom there is no god but He, thrice that his father had narrated that to him from Allah's Messenger". (Sahih Muslim, Book 037, Number 6666)
    and
"Narrated Abu Musa: Allah’s Messenger said: On the Day of Resurrection, my Ummah (nation) will be gathered into three groups. One sort will enter Paradise without rendering an account (of their deeds). Another sort will be reckoned an easy account and admitted into Paradise. Yet another sort will come bearing on their backs heaps of sins like great mountains. Allah will ask the angels though He knows best about them: Who are these people? They will reply: They are humble slaves of yours. He will say: Unload the sins from them and put the same over the Jews and Christians: then let the humble slaves get into Paradise by virtue of My Mercy".
(This Hadith IS SOUND and mentioned in Mustadrak of Hakim). (110 Hadith Qudsi (Sacred Hadith), translated by Syed Masood-ul-Hasan, revision and commentaries by Ibrahim m. Kunna [Darussalam Publishers and Distributors], pp. 19-20).
This is certainly the advantage of not having to respond in the moment, but I pray that Muslim finds Christ and that this encounter was a part of his journey to Him!

The inheritance laws outlined in the Quran are not meant to be a mathematical equation, but rather a system of distribution that takes into account various factors such as relationships, responsibilities, and needs of individuals.
The Quran is a divine revelation that transcends human understanding and intellect. It is not meant to be analyzed solely through a mathematical lens. The inheritance laws in the Quran are meant to ensure fair distribution of wealth and resources among family members, and they have been practiced and upheld by Muslims for centuries.
Instead of trying to discredit the Quran based on a superficial understanding of its teachings, I would encourage you to approach it with an open mind and a willingness to learn. The Quran is a source of guidance and wisdom for Muslims, and it is not something to be dismissed or ridiculed without proper understanding.

Sin is more than our actions. Our very nature is sinful. We sin because of our sin nature. Weighing up our good actions against our bad ones are insufficient. If we could save ourselves then yes, there would be no need for Christ's sacrifice. However we cannot save ourselves, we require a new nature. Thus God gives us His nature when the Holy Spirit indwells us at the point of Salvation. We become a 'new creation' which is now acceptable into the Holy presence of God.

But this doesn't necessarily mean that infants and animals will go to Hell (animals are assured to not go to Hell, as they are instinctive creatures. Also, sin is not just some rule-breaking thing. It is a corruption, and it brings destruction).

@@إبراهيمعفيفي-ك7ر There is an inherent disconnect between God and humanity. God is an omnipotent omnipresent being at the highest of all kingdoms. How would it be fair for him to judge us if he has not walked amongst us, felt our pain, felt our suffering, our fear, our desires. It would not be fair nor just. Yeshua is the bridge that connects us and shows us that God has walked a mile in our shoes. He has felt what it means to be human therefore we can understand each other better and he can judge us more fairly. That is my belief and if you do not agree you are free to your opinion.

      @swish007 4 месяца назад +2

by that logic though, it was "unfair" (i.e. unjust) when God judged Sodom and Gomorrah and other wicked nations in the old testament. there's absolutely NO reason that god "needed" to do anything for us. He saved us because of his unconditional love for us. the only thing any of us really deserve is death and judgement because of our sinful nature. saying it wouldn't be fair for him to judge us for ANY reason implies that we have a higher standard of fairness than God, which simply isn't true. It is very true thought what you said about Jesus being the bridge that connects us to the Father. the fact that Jesus shared in our human experience and felt our pain and desires make him our perfect "high priest." whatever the case, God did come to earth as a man and died for our sins and the fact that he walked among us and knew what it meant to be human makes Him all the more approachable and trustworthy. That indicates how much God really loves us that he would do that when he didn't have to. God understood us before Jesus came because he made us and he knows everything. it's our job to love him with all our hearts and part of that is getting to know and understand Him.

This official text was elaborated under scholarly consensus of the living companions of the Prophet. It was copied and distributed to the scholarly centers where Islam had spread. What was burned were the personal copies of manuscripts with their dialectic annotations, so that the one official script would be hence forward distributed, and would close the door to confusion of new non Arab muslims. The skeletal script that Uthman codified allowed for numerous dialectical recitations while preserving the exact words of the Quran.

This Muslim asked a very pertinent question:
Why did God make Jesus Christ die for our sin if He is a forgiving God?
God is love and out of that love comes forgiveness, longsuffering of wrong, patience, benevolence which requires justice etc.
God is also infinitely holy and protects the holiness of His kingdom with perfect justice.
When one sins he sins first and foremost against God, then His benevolent Kingdom. This means that he sins against eternal righteousness. The penalty of sin against eternal righteousness is death - separation from that righteousness forever. Now the only way that sin can be atoned for is if an eternal propitiation (paid exchange) can be paid for the repentant sinner. And the only one who is eternal is God. Therefore He alone is worthy to pay for the price of man's sin, which He did through the eternal Word of God - Christ. And upon receiving Christ as our saviour and Lord, the repentant sinner becomes a saint (sanctified by faith in Christ) and as a consequence, receives salvation. There is no other way to God but through Christ.

At the time Caliph UTHMAN, the Islamic empire had spread so far and had many different regions which of course had different accents and dialects of Arabic, and grammar as well. Secondly, the Arab region was not that literate at that time, so the arrival of a religion caused them to learn to read and write. Thirdly, Arabic had not yet developed a standard spelling system so a word could be written in many different ways which could signal different meanings for different dialects.
So when the Caliph Uthman, went on a tour of the states, he saw that people were not reading the Quran in correct accent and punctuation rules were not followed as were correct. So, he went back and ordered the writing of MASTER COPIES of the QURAN (which was written with the agreement of the most respected companions of Prophet PBUH and was in the standard accent and punctuation and had tone markings for people who didn't speak Arabic). He ordered the copies to be sent to all the provinces and that whoever wants to make a copy of the Quran must copy it directly from these master copies. Only these copies will be considered as official ones. After sometime He ordered all the unofficial copies to be burnt so they must not be used anymore.

I dont know if it's my browser, but this video kept skipping and it felt like there was something wrong with the framerate. Please, don't edit your videos to cut out silence in between sentences, or even pauses within a sentence, it makes the video too jarring to watch.

The Hebrew word “Elohim,” which is used in Genesis 1:1 to refer to God, has been translated as “Allah” in some Arabic translations of the Bible used by both Christians and Jews. Therefore, in those Arabic translations, Genesis 1:1 would read “In the beginning, Allah created the heavens and the earth.”

People are confusing the Muslims with the nonsense name of "Son of God", imagine calling the Father "Father of God" this would be just as confusing. Jesus is not a son outside of God, he is God. Basically God went on the cross himself.

Oh man. So many people in this comment section don't understand the absolute pass Cliffe gave to this Muslim. Notice how he couldn't hold back the smile after this Muslim says, 'If there was 10 versions I would question it.' Wow I cannot believe he let that slide, lol. Talk about humility.

There is literally a famous account of a black man befriending a very-high-up in the ranks klansman and spending genuine time with him over the years and that man eventually denounced being a klansman and those two guys were friends until death. Love the sinner, not the sin. Amen!

Wait I heard this one before. There is this hadith literally:Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman came to `Uthman at the time when the people of Sham and the people of Iraq were Waging war to conquer Arminya and Adharbijan. Hudhaifa was afraid of their (the people of Sham and Iraq) differences in the recitation of the Qur'an, so he said to `Uthman, "O chief of the Believers! Save this nation before they differ about the Book (Qur'an) as Jews and the Christians did before." So `Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may compile the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you." Hafsa sent it to `Uthman. `Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, `Abdullah bin AzZubair, Sa`id bin Al-As and `AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies. `Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue." They did so, and when they had written many copies, `Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa. `Uthman sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ordered that all the other Qur'anic materials, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt.Zaid bin Thabit added, "A verse from Surat Ahzab was missed by me when we copied the Qur'an and I used to hear Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) reciting it. So we searched for it and found it with Khuza`ima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. (That Verse was): 'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.' (33.23)

Burning books in the west is considered disrespectful, but in the middle east any form of text of knowledge that is respectable, if its worn out or not used anymore, you don't want to throw it away in a trashcan or dump it outside so anybody could walk over it, it's even more disrespectful. So it is permissible to burn such things to degenerate them completely, so that may not be disrespected in any way, it may seem disrespectful to Westerners but its normal and a CULTURAL DIFFERNCE.
