    beautiful. i think we lost something key when we stopped the oral tradition and began writing things down. and yet, here we are. thank you for this reminder.

    Great presentation, so many African American traditions are being lost as the history underneath is not always understood or transferred to following generations. I always thought it was just a dance, but you unpacked some cultural pieces stemming from segregation and Jim Crow era policies.
