Some great points! I pay for utilities separately and will use the gift card hack at office supplies at least occasionally throughout the year so for $0 I’ll keep it!
I assume this means you buy gift cards for non-office supply companies, but buy the cards from office supply stores, thereby getting you 5x on the purchase?
Let’s go Spencer! Same with you, all my utilities and what not are baked into the rent and I don’t pay for my phone directly therefore, this card wouldn’t be a super earner either. But a great welcome offer though 😈
Next time you’re at staples or whatever, office supply sorry, go look at the gift cards and ask yourself if you would like 5x back on any of those things.
card is super useful for me all my cable, internet and phone bill are charged to this card. Plus i have a chase superfecta. This card is definitely needed for that. 5x on those categories is extremely high. I do not think any i=other card offers 5x on those categories. Mobile phone protection that's relative to the individual.
You're not wrong!! I personally don't feel super comfortable doing the gift card strat for whatever reason, but I bet you're doing better than me points wise! 🥉
If business cards don’t impact your personal credit profile does it really matter if you close it after a year if you don’t need it at all and just got it for the SUB?
That's definitely something many people do, but for a card with no annual fee, there's no real harm in leaving it open in my opinion. It's just up to how you like to manage your cards.
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Of course. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly as I’m new to business cards with the first one being the Ink Unlimited for the 90k SUB.
Spencer I just called chase about my freedom unlimited card and had it since 2017 and they said I only get the bonus cash or pts once not every 2 years like you said on this video ???
Nice review of the card Spencer! I'm also planning to get it eventually, mostly for the sign up bonus. I don't think it'll be much of an earner for me, but as you said, it's typically a good play to just keep a no annual fee card.
Thank you Monty! It definitely is a card that's worth it for the bonus alone in my opinion, but there are ways to make it much more lucrative if you wanted to. I just don't personally do that since I have so many other cards I spend on already.
It's just a system my rental company uses that I pay all my rent, utilities, etc. through which is why I can't utilize the 5x back on internet and cable services on this card. If you pay for each of those separately, you'll be able to utilize those 5x categories as long as they code correctly.
I think I might dive into the gift card hacking scene when I eventually get this card. I love Target but hate only getting 1.5x back on my spend. Great video per usual Spencer!
That's definitely a viable approach! I personally don't feel super comfortable doing it, but those that do get a lot more points on this card than I do.
Target has 5% cash back credit and debit cards. Not quite as good as 5x UR but you should never have been stuck at 1.5x on target purchases from a Chase Freedom or Ink Unlimited.
hi, can you make a no Foreign TF video? lowest AF as much as possible.... for UR/Hyatt points... I am looking at CSP, CIBP, Bilt.... was thinking about C1 Savorone but only as 1x on everything else... any card I should get?
That's not a bad idea! There are a ton of no-annual-fee cards out there! The ones you listed are great and could be complimented by other cards too, but there's always more to consider than no FTFs alone, so it would depend on your goals outside of that metric. I'd honestly just look up a list of them and peruse through it to see what sticks out.
It's technically a very lucrative approach! I just personally don't use it because for one I have the Amex Amazon Business Prime card that I use for those purchases, but also because I don't want to go out of my way to go to office supply stores and a lot of the times I'm spending towards a new card bonus anyways, making that strategy less applicable for me. Plus I'm not fully comfortable with it tbh... But if done right it's very powerful.
Chase reserves that for the Ink Preferred. It has the same travel multiplier as the Sapphire Reserve. Too bad its CDW is primary only for business trips.

You're likely earning a bunch of points that way, so nice work!

@@TexasDevin Yep, you nailed it! I don’t do it often and I try to buy an actual item with it so it’s not so obvious, just to stay on chase’s good side

Sounds like this card serves the same purpose for both of us, and it sure serves that purpose well lol.

I have a couple hundred as recurring expenses on the cic in 5x . 1600+ points a month sitting in a drawer works for me.
That's awesome! Keep racking up those points!
If you max the 5x it's really worth it 😈
What do you do, that you max out the 5x?
@@LK_EBM buying gift cards at the office supply stores most likely

The 90,000 SUB and the 5x for office supplies and cable is well worth it for me at a $0 AF.
Absolutely! For a card without an annual fee, that's a ton of value to be had!

90K bonus + 125K maxing out 5X = 215K UR points 1st year alone minimum! with 0 annual fee!
That's a ton of points for sure!! Pretty crazy for a card without an annual fee.
Yes, but that’s great only if you have organic spending. I’d have to more than double my natural spending to get that 125k UR.
You can get 2 with the same ss#. I just did and just got the 90K miles.
Thanks for the DP Dom! That's great to know!
Ink Cash is an EARNER!
It sure can be!
What is a “rental portal”?
