As Brann pointed out, there is no other grief like that over someone who'd died by suicide. My husband, beloved metalhead who introduced me to Mastodon, died by suicide September 23, 2012. Demons slain, may all who die by suicide journey through peaceful light. For Brann's Skye, for my Aric, for them all, I wish you love. <3
One of the greatest things about art is that you can take something so dark and tragic, and use it to make something so strong and beautiful. That's what this album did. Her memory is forever kept alive in the form of one of the most beautiful albums of all time! Brann's amazing! Mastodon forever! <3
crack the skye will always be my favorite album. it was the moment i knew mastodon was more then a band and something special we get to witness evolve such an amazing band
I have always felt this album deeper than any other music. Everytime I listen to its like the first time. It never gets old after all these years. I lost my parents to suicide when I was 17 and this music really hits home for me.
Man this is my new favorite album, the fact that it's musically and lyrically amazing and I can relate to Brann. Same situation and lost my sister to the same thing. RIP to Skye. Maybe our sister are best friends in the afterlife.
There are only a handful of albums out there that don't have at least one or two 'meh' moments on them. This is one. I came up in the 80's and feel GnR Appetite For Destruction is another. Master of Puppets as well. This is the pinnacle of songwriting and performance. Thank you Mastodon for Crack the Skye.
Nothing ever comes close to Mastodon once discovered. The best heavy band I enjoyed every album of theirs and they never cease to amaze with pure awesomeness. Glad I could see them live and it was with Scott Kelly! I hope I'll have that opportunity again one day! Btw I got a drumstick from Brann, one of my favorite humans in the music world !

This album changed completelly my relation with metal and music in general. Great masterpiece and my favorite from Mastodon.
This album is the Metal equivalent of a Pink Floyd album.
This album is life changing.

The song is pure emotion. Grief. Family is so important. Pure melody of tears.
There is a genuine Brotherhood and mutual respect among these guys and it shows in their playing. Nothing pretentious.
Thanks for bearing your soul Brann

You guys are our generations Led Zeppelin but with much deeper meaning and bond. Thank you for your music.
Yeah, him asking for a picture of Skye has a whole other context nowadays.
