@@peterpanda4296 yup. There was only one really big guy that had a horse stabled with mine, but that horse went from physically perfect to having a horribly bowed back in 3 years. I’m shocked by how many people don’t realize that there has to be a weight limit for the horses safety! This really resonated with me bc after two children in two years I have gained 100 pounds and am heavier than I’ve ever been. But I know it’s unhealthy and I know how to fix it. I recently booked a trip to Turks and Caicos and want to ride horses on the beach. I knew I’d have to lose 62 lbs to meet their weight limit and I’ve already lost 13 in a month by cutting carbs and sugar and eating out. It’s important to me so I’m making the change and this is the perfect motivation! Wish me luck I’ll make the deadline this November. As an overweight person trying to get back to the healthy person I find these videos are actually super motivating 😂😂
Good for you. I wish you success. Horse person here - besides the weight, there is a saddle of maybe 45 lbs and an unexperienced person to carry around. Horse has to balance/manage unwieldy unexperienced person plus weight. thanks for thinking of the horse.
I mean, I'm a fat ass. I know I'm a fat ass. There is no way in hell I am subjecting some poor horse to carrying my fat ass on it's back. It would be animal cruelty.
I'm pretty big for my height and my horse will line himself up to be ridden. I dont need to hold him, if I was too heavy, he would simply refuse to let me get on him in the first place, or chuck me off. I'm within the 20% weight rule with my saddle so all is fine. I'm trying to lose a bit to make it easier for him but its a slow process, losing the weight too fast will only cause it to go back on.
Isaac, bro, your wife should be sainted for putting up with you. I don't know how she could do it with how funny you are all the time. Keep up the awesome.
My late dad was 120 kg and was one of the best horse riders I've ever seen but I mostly remember that he mounted a big ass warhorse every time we went riding whilst I rode a little pony, good times good times.
well see thats the difference your dad rode a gigantic horse and knew how to ride and she wanted to ride a normal one while not being an experienced rider, even normal people can hurt a horses back if they dont know how to ride properly, let alone her
Thats the difference. An experienced well balanced rider can be a little heavier than a non experienced unbalanced rider. -while you need to stay within the 20% rule. My horse can carry me even though I'm close to the limit (trying to lose a bit) because I am balanced and know how to ride, whereas a novice the same weight as me I'd never let sit on my horse.
@@Kat-mu8wq me too. Country girl - and we got to muster cattle - the work needs to be done. My horses carry me well. However, you hit the nail on the head - balanced weight-riding to best serve the horse. At the end of muster season - I am well within the weight limit - but at the start, not so much (I am a tall-built person) - but my horses are my world. It's like any type of physical work or workout - you need to address the first basics and take it slow. When working with another partner (i.e. the horse) you have to ensure their health is greatly considered. You can't run a marathon without training. If they thought of a horse more like a person than a horse - they would realise that asking them to do something outside their capabilities is wrong. They are not ants, when riding you are sitting in the weakest skeletal structured area of a horse - horses are not naturally built to carry things - so why put them at risk. What the young man said about her is wrong and a bit harsh. I would encourage anyone who wants to ride horses to do so - but like anything - walk before you run - you have to be relatively fit and know the techniques before jumping in. You wouldn't jump in the ring with a prizefighter, then why take on a 400kg animal. Horse riding is one of the most dangerous things you can do. It's not golf - you piss off or hurt this animal - there is hell to pay. If the horse hasn't already put you in the hospital.
I can't imagine trying to force some poor innocent horse to carry my weight, who is that self centred. It's not an insult it's physics and would be animal abuse. Edit: I have also had to sit out while my friends did things like ride horses etc. but it's not their fault that I'm overweight.
Carnivore diet bro. I have ate nothing but meat for a month and I lost 35 pounds. I'm 43 so I'm old and it still worked for me. No joke I feel better than I do at 25
I feel the struggle with mismatching sizes, lol. It's frustrating, but it happens to everyone. It's actually really funny shopping at consignment shops or thrift stores and seeing the tremendous variation between all the SUPPOSEDLY XS sizes, or the Small sizes, Medium etc. There are S tops that are extremely baggy on me, and S tops I have no business trying to stuff myself into, lol. I wish there are more of an industry standard, but again, this affects EVERYONE.
Thanks Isaac, your constant "fatphobic" videos made me look at myself in the mirror and go "I want to change". I've been hitting the gym, swimming and eating better for the last 2 months. Never felt better! Keep up the good work!
"I reckon there's a donkey out there that could take me, not in a weird way" 😂🤣that "not in a weird way" makes me suspect you meant it in a weird way 😂🤣
I worked at the YMCA and did trail rides. We had to get draft horses and draft horse crosses because the people wanting to ride were getting bigger and bigger. It's getting bad here in America. I loved those precious draft horses though they are so good-natured.
Wow! That's crazy! I'm glad you explained this cuz I was confused when he said the limit was 230. When I rode in 2011 the limit was 180, so they must've been standard-sized horses.
@@bebevay8485 Different size horses can support more or less weight obviously but most places like this only have one breed of horse. I have seen some that will have larger breeds or drafts for big people (I mean big as in like me at 6'3" or Issac at 6'8" who weigh over 200lbs and in good health) though it seems even a draft would struggle with some of these cows who are almost 1/3rd of the horse's weight.
Yeah. America seems to prefer quarter horses which weigh approx 500-550kg. So max weight including saddle they can carry is around 100kg, height also plays a part, taller people shouldn't ride smaller horses as it makes the rider top heavy thus affecting balance of the horse and rider. I myself am close to the weight limit of riding my Part-bred Arab (he can carry a max of 194lbs including saddle) but it would have to be short bursts, not hours on end. I'm trying to lose a bit for him but its not easy considering the meds I'm on cause weight gain, if I stop taking them I can die 😂 so I'm just trying to lose a few lbs here and there and work on it slowly.
Back in 2017 I remember coming across this argument in front of the lift's to my friends apartment. This bigger lady was yelling at these people calling them fatphobic, turns out they didn't want to get in the lift with her but I don't think she understood it has a weight limit. They needed to go together it seems so I offered to get in and low and behold the alarm went off in the lift as we were over the maximum amount. I got out and she looked really flustered as the doors closed. The people were quite upset that they were talked to that way simply because they realized that it wouldn't work. Not all apartments have big lifts, some are just really tiny. ( Fixed error 😁)
her calling the ranch "fat phobic" because htey care about the horses and their limits that allow people to ride them, would be like calling a theme park ableist for not allowing little people to ride certain rides they are too short for
Honestly that was really good of that horse riding place in Hawai'i to put a weight limit on their site. That Ranch Remi went to should've had that. As a horse person, it does anger me when obese people have this expectation to sit on a horse because they believe that horses are big and strong, they can carry me etc. When really, horses aren't actually designed to carry a lot of weight (they can pull it, but not so much carry it on their backs). They don't have a collarbone, their shoulder's are attached with a group of muscles called the thoracic sling. Depending on their conformation that determines how much they can carry, but the general rule is 20% of their weight (that's when they are fit, not underweight or overweight). Also saddle fit is so important, if the rider doesn't fit in the saddle that is just as bad as and incorrectly fitted saddle ridden by a rider who fits the saddle. Horses are living animals, no one has the right to ride them. Riding is a privledge. My horse is a smaller built arabian and sorry Isaac, I wouldn't allow you to ride him. Not saying you're fat, but you're very tall! XD
@@FeralCheryl91 That's true. 17" isn't that big especially for people with long femurs or large bums. I don't go to trail riding places anymore as I have my own horse, but I remember they usually don't fit saddles for each horse sadly, then they have like 2 saddle pads because they think it's extra cushioning (when you'd know as a horse person, thicker pad doesn't mean better).
I can't fathom letting yourself get so big you can't do anything then claiming it's'''empowering'' it's an oxymoron. Being healthy is the most empowering thing anyone can be.
you had me at fat shamed by a horse. honestly i witnessed that myself in the DR. was walking from the hotel to a mall to buy some stuff and outside there were carriages. one spoke to a very obese person if he wanted a ride and the horse watched over his shoulder with an expression: "for real? this dude?"

I'm also reminded of that scene in "Robin Hood : Men in tights" where Marrian's German handmaiden (who is obese) tried to copy her by jumping from a window and onto her horse, only the handmaidens horse thought "you got to be kidding me!!!!!" and moved out of the way, causing her to shatter the thick pathment slabs on the ground. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good for that farm. I briefly boarded a horse at a farm that was also a dude ranch. Every rider had to sign some useless waiver that had all these wonderful erudite sounding rules like weight restrictions and footwear required. Ha! In reality? The owners put anyone at all on a horse, sometimes the poor things were so small and weak they were lame. People would show up being HUGE, easily 4000lbs. They would be in flip flops!!! Helmets offered wouldn’t come near to fitting. These rides were two hour walk trails up and down mountainous terrain. One horse was found dead in the morning after a ride where the rider was grossly fat. I left shortly afterwards. Most people offering such a service just want the money.
If she wanted to be hauled around in a horse and cart, fair enough. But, she would rather have a whinge over not being able to essentially abuse it, by making it carry her...
"Modern Warrior" is like half white, I have full blood natives in my family and he's very pale in comparison... It's insurance as well as kindness to horse. If you want something shorter you can go for Clyde/quarter cross-breeds but yeah insurance for above a certain weight is a lot more. 100kg+ where I am can add an extra 15k to yearly insurance.

I'm 190 cm (i don't know how freedom units work with feet-inches) and 110ish kg (240 lbs) We we went to a horse ranch with friends I just quetly watched the horses. I admit I a little afraid of them... big animals that could seriously harm me if i make a mistake. Anyways rancher asks that "I'm not coming?" - "Nah, I'm too big, not want to hurt the horse" - The grinn on his face... He brought out a beast. A huge horse. "She will carry you" The whithers (top shoulder) of that horse were at my EARS! about 180cm... I needed a ladder to get on it. So you basically sat at about 2 meter high (6.5 feet) Needless to say I was terrified of her... But she was very beautiful
What kind of human would even want to subject an animal to that type of cruelty if I weighed a hefty amount I would not want to sit on a horse because I have a heart
I've owned many horse's in my life, currently I have 4 in my herd, before covid I had 10 heads of horse's. A horse will buck you off if you are to fat. If you you are fat ride a bigger horse, but it's not common to have draft horses.
Thing is, draft horses are built mostly for pulling rather than for riding. So yeah they may seem like a good option for obese people, but they don't really have strong backs. Cob breeds like Welsh Ds are very strong and hardy, compact with strong hindquarters are better.
@@poniesatemypencils We never rode our Percheron draft horses. Besides not being meant for it, that's a wide spread to try and straddle, and we didn't have saddles for them. We did have a pair of draft mules that were very easy and comfortable to ride though, if a bit slower and meandering than the horses. They would let the riders and horses decide where we were going, but they would decide how we were getting there.

Native Americans also colonized other tribes' territory and own slaves. Hell, 🌑people still own slaves in Africa.

Not to mention the children on tik tok faking mental issues for attention.
I was a competitive show jumper for 14 years. I've ridden horses ranging from ponies to Australiam Warmbloods and everything in-between... And it doesn't matter in the slightest because anyone with a brain knows that a horse risks serious injury if it's carrying around the weight of 3 humans 😒
i grew up with horses and also know how to ride casually, it always made me sad when i went to the stables and i saw all those fat people riding.
@@peterpanda4296 yup. There was only one really big guy that had a horse stabled with mine, but that horse went from physically perfect to having a horribly bowed back in 3 years. The odd thing is that people seem to think if a horse can PULL heavy weights then it can CARRY the same. No. You can push a car (in neutral), doesn't mean you can or should carry it.

I would be willing to bet real dollars that she wasn't "forced" to leave anywhere and was more likely ordered to leave because she made a scene and much ado about nothing and was even more likely belligerent to the staffers in the process...and then subsequently told to kick rocks. Occam's Razor reminds us that "The easiest answer is typically the right one." Which would also lend credence to that staffer and his own TikTok after the visit...likely retaliation for what she started.
But yeah, that would blow her whole victim narrative to Hell and back.
Although the response was incorrect no matter how you slice it, the employee is the son of the owner and it was made in response to the absolute FLOODING of one star reviews because of the incident.
So because she was too heavy, people got upset and tried to review bomb the ranch which prompted the response.
Again, doesn't make the response right, but trying to destroy someone's business because you're fat is a grievous misuse of power in my opinion

And note, even though she said some worker posted it on tic tok, no one has yet to find that video that she claimed was there.
I can't imagine trying to force some poor innocent horse to carry my weight, who is that self centred. It's not an insult it's physics and would be animal abuse.
Edit: I have also had to sit out while my friends did things like ride horses etc. but it's not their fault that I'm overweight.

Me, Irish, extremely white: "When the fuck did we colonise anything?"
I always ask people to name an Irish/Poland/Norway etc etc that colonised* which country? Because there's only 8 countries and the USA is one of them
Mate your pubs are everywhere
The Irish were colonized by the Vikings.
It doesn’t matter to those people. Anyone who’s white is a colonizer.
Denmark took over England during viking times, Irish are everywhere in USA. 😂
"I reckon there's a donkey out there that could take me, not in a weird way"
😂🤣that "not in a weird way" makes me suspect you meant it in a weird way 😂🤣
I worked at the YMCA and did trail rides.
I like the fact that you have humility and call things as they are.
What was the weight limit of the lift??
@@vg7735 that one was 220kg it was a small elevator as it stands I weighted about 90kg round then so I was always conscious of weight limits 😅

This is golden. subscribing to this is one of my decisions that i would be proud.
XD
A lot of these riding places have small, 17in all purpose or jump saddles. I'm 5'8 and need an 18in jump saddle, Isaac would have to go bareback 😆
Remi was dinned though, wasn't she
@@FeralCheryl91 That's true.
