But I've heard that hearing the flaws doesn't make you like it less. Nothing is perfect. The manga too. Hell I'm reading the Sword and Shield chapter of manga right and it's not my favorite but I'm still enjoying it either way.

I believe the lack of advertising is more because of the demographic it is aimed at.
the show, games and other mediums are more aimed for kids age 7-12 but can be enjoyed by any age group.
The Manga is aimed at an older demographic so makes it harder to recommend on their other shows because they would have minimal demographic cross over.

Actually in love with manga since the first time I read it, it's totally underrated and it needs more respect. It's storyline is a lot better than the anime since we get to see new characters every parts and arcs. Not only that, we also get FAMILIAR FACES! Just like how Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow appear I GSC and the whole 10 dex holder in Battle Frontier island. I'd say the manga has the best development in mixing romantic elements (BW and RS did a great job on this) with epic risky battles (GSC, DDPT, BW-B2W2, others)

  • @edra2005
    @edra2005 Год назад +34

Oh so that's why the Sinnoh and Unova Dex Holders never interact (I think) with the dex holders from other regions?
Makes sense since they can't just warp trainers from one region to another while the story arcs are incomplete
It seemed strange that the Emerald climax has the Kanto Johto and Hoenn dex holders all together but then the Sinnoh and Unova dex holder arcs feel like isolated stories with no connections to the other regions (besides maybe Looker)

I'm so glad I found these books when I did! I was only fortunate enough that my school library had a few copies of the Pokemon manga, and I was the biggest Pokemon fan back in elementary school. It was really when I turned 8 years old that I really started to get so invested in them! The school library had most of the books from the Red and Blue box set, and I checked out every single one of them and enjoyed every bit of story they had to offer! My parents noticed how much of them I'd been reading, so as a surprise they decided to get me every single box set from Gold and Silver to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum! (My dad already owned a box set of Red and Blue) I totally binged read them when they arrived, and those were probably some of the best moments in my life reading something.
It REALLY sucked that my middle school library had ZERO Pokemon Adventures related manga, even though they had stuff like Naruto in there!
I really do wish they would promote them more, it's not like kids wouldn't want to read a Pokemon comic! No matter how ""Edgy"" or ""Adult"" it might seem, those were some really good stories that totally hooked me on the manga series.

One thing I've also often noticed is that many who talk about the series in the internet will:
1: Compare it to the anime (before Ash retired), usually by voicing their disappointment in the anime more than actually voicing their love for the manga.
And 2: Say it is very good, even though they've only read the first arc (or maybe the first three arcs) and then proceed to never actually continue reading the other arcs.

I’m currently on volume 11 and I like how diverse and strategic the characters are as well as the touch of some dark themes. I’m so sad that more people don’t know about this and even more said that I know they’ll never animate this even though I find it more enjoyable then the anime itself.

Pokemon Special was the first manga I evere read, and changed my life in many ways. And since a few months, I began to rediscover them and am now in my personal favourite arc (ruby sapphire).
But about the popularity: I think a big problem for many is the stark difference between the manga and the main games/ anime in regards to the atmosphere. The main games/ anime tend to be a more go lucky adventure, while the manga regularly tackles serious themes such as epression, mistreatment, destruction of nature or death.
So many, that try the manga for the first time, propably expect something like the games, but are greeted and disappointed by a whole other sort of story.

what i like the most about pokemon adventure is the entire story
it's not like a usual pokemon you see in games or even anime
there are dark moments, funny moments and also plot twists you never know what will happen and wanted to find out in the next chapter
that's what the manga made for my childhood

  • @intergalactic92

The issue is that that quote is really old. He said that about the red/green/blue arc. That was over 20 years ago. Since then the anime has taken off and has been folded into the pokemon company's control. Their focus is on that instead. Effectively the Anime has replaced the Manga in their eyes as the truest representation of the pokemon world. It’s easy to see why as that is much more easily accessible, and doesn’t have to reconcile with the wildly different interpretations of certain characters or the different target audience.
It is disappointing. But I guess this makes us Manga fans more enlightened individuals.

    Great video and clear point.
Constructive criticism on the actual video format, I don't think it was worth spending 20% of the video explaining that Pokemon is a popular franchise when it's most likely as well known as icons like Mikey Mouse and Bugs Bunny; I think trimming it down to 30 seconds would've been a better intro and give more focus on the actual purpose of the video. I only listened, so I'm probably more harsh than most who actually watched the video.

I mean we all know the Pokemon Manga exists but it doesn't feel like Pokemon really care it about you clearly answered that well with Promotion. it seems like the Pokemon company is afraid to take the step of promoting the manga actually media that focus on the Pokemon Manga. There is so much depth, and story they could bring to the table escially in the form of visual media aka an Anime or just shorts series like Pokemon Generations or Evolutions. There is ton of media and work for them to use and utilize to make something fresh and new some pokemon fans they have never seen before and its a real shame they don't tap in and give the Pokemon Manga the promotion and publicity it truly deserves. I think another reason it doesn’t do that well is because it’s quite a mature manga series so you couldn’t really recommend it to a young kid like you could a Pokémon game. Also obviously they have a lot of volumes and it can can get expensive quick and parents are just not able to spend that kind of money nowadays when they could just buy them a game and they can play it until the next one comes out.

ok, let me tell you the actual reason why pokemon adventures is not known by 90% of the world. I was there in 1998 when this first happened, the manga was supposed to be made anime back then rather than the anime we know now. But of course, there was a group of people who didn't want this, so they voted the manga out just for making a crappy kid's show. Even the google have no records of it since all data was removed from it back then when google and every other search engines were not such a high end browzing platforms. The CEO once made a statement in 2000 where he said that the manga would have been a better anime adaptation and after analyzing that statement now, its speculated that this manga would have been in the top 15 anime shows at the least. The franchise sure did this series dirty.

The only pairing I do t like in the manga is Serena/Y and Greninja. She should have still kept the Delphox. Other than that, the manga has the best canon.

It honestly just boils down to manga as a medium being not as marketable as anime or video games. It would definitely benefit with an anime adaptation. The awful mess that is the Ash and Pikachu show is just lucky to be overhyped by the Pokemon company💀

@@VeeVolt I mean I don't mind people liking it or seeing it as guilty pleasure no matter how ridiculous the reason. Granted it isn't offensive like say Velma. Just that it is an aggressively bland and generic show at its core. Plus your "Why we'll never see XY Ash again" video just encapsulates the failure of the writers in making their series consistent especially with Ash's character as well as its rules and power scaling. Put in a lot of bad writing too and sluggish pacing. It's just a shame that the anime we got is favored by the Pokemon company over the pokesppe manga here which is pretty much the definitive series out of the Pokemon media franchise (not that it's perfect but still).

@@whatdafu...boooooom1864 tell me about it, i lost interest in anime immediately once i went to read the manga. Ton of people will say "oh I hate that people bash the anime by using the manga" but honestly, those bashing have ton of good point. Watching the same 10 years old guy doing the same thing over and over again is tiring. I really hope Liko is different. And to be honest, if i want to compare Pokemon manga with Shonen manga from another franchise, the Pokemon manga was not that groundbreaking, but compare to other Pokemon media in term of story, i considered it the best canon, i think surpassing even Pokemon Masters. The only Pokemon mangas that surpassed spe mostly are fanmade by Japanese artists.

@@magicwandstudio3141 Ok 4 months later and right now I'm currently invested in Horizons to see if it will be something different and I'm happy to say that it's been promising so far. Not only Ash is finally gone but they have finally gotten rid of the old anime's tiring tropes and Liko doesn't feel like female Ash 2.0. My only wish is that they stick to the direction they're taking and not milk Ash further out of desperation in case Horizons fails. Honestly never understood the appeal of Ash and the old anime's "same thing over and over again" deal outside of nostalgia and even worse how he has hardcore fans who wouldn't give Horizons a chance just because he isn't in it.

because imo the stories are mostly badly written and dont make much sense, and even when parts are well written they arent exactly that special ironically, also they have weird decisions in terms of the characters like they age down alot of them for example xy protags in manga are 12 when in the games they are 17 black 2 protag is 12 when in game they are 14

I think they should’ve tried to milk the Gen 1 characters Red, Blue, and Green instead of introducing new Gen MCs every game as protagonist every new Arc. If Red had stayed the main character like Ash it probably would’ve remained more popular.

@@VeeVolt No offense but I don't think you understand what "character development" means. It means if a character changes over time not necessarily a character going from point a to point b. Ash as a character doesn't really change aside from being a noob to champion and even so it took him 1000+ EPISODES to even achieve that progress and along the way, every time Ash does progress, it's just going to be a reset in the next season making his story worse. At core he is just an average goofball who wants to be the best. Not even explaining why he wants to be a Pokemon master making we wonder why should I care for him. There is so much they could have done to him to make him intriguing if they're gonna keep Ash and his yellow rat for like 25 straight years. Well then again that's a feat only One Piece has achieved so far.

@@nothinghappened7599 No offense taken, a youtuber called Lumiose Trainer Zac covered ash's development in a video called The Evolution of Ash Ketchum it's really good but in my own opinion ash's reset is not one that happens really every time the only time you could really argue it is BW and SM(barely) every other series ash does feel like he's continuing his journey through his Pokémon world. also character development doesn't have to be a very big change it can be a subtle one such as characters like Goku, as for his goal of being a Pokémon master does he really need a proper reason we know that to ash being a Pokémon master means being someone who has befriended all Pokémon in the world in a world like Pokémon do you really need a reason to become a master at Pokémon to understand them and as ash said befriend them all, like the latios episode in the aim to be a master series really showed that even though he's the main character some pokemon don't trust him fully even after he risked his life for them what ash wants isn't really something that needs an explanation i think it's a natural goal that even i would strive for being able to bond with any and every pokemon and of course there's only so much they can do with his character whilst still keeping him ash hence why they decided to stop his series because they did what they wanted to accomplish Sorry for the super long chunk of text

@@VeeVolt Oh trust me I already watched it and it doesn't convince anything. As for the resets it's not necessarily in skill but in narrative momentum. His league losses for one. It will just lead to Ash starting from square one and leave his old team (except pikachu) just to do the same thing again. Even relearning the same lessons that he just got in a previous season. Like for example, his cockiness in hoeenn (as explained in zac's vid) is a reset to a trait Ash in s1 had which he got over in johto. And him becoming more competent in battles is already done in Johto and sinnoh to a greater extent anyway. It's not character development but more so character inconsistency. Same thing with BW and SM. Are you telling me that Ash wanting to "relax" means turning him into more of a goofball? And doesn't Ash always chill when he's not in battles? Just doesn't add up.
Given you dont need big character development to make a good character. At least for me characterization and consistency is more important. Other than his passion for battles and care for Pokemon, theres not really much to him that makes him intriguing to follow add that to how he has a repeating character arc at least until journeys where they finally gave him progress (key word: journeys. It shouldn't take him that long to progress) and how inconsistent his character is. At least Goku doesn't have an end goal so he can work with more possibilities. And yeah speaking of possibilities, if becoming a "master" means befriending all pokemon all along, then why does the show focus on him doing the same gyms and league plot over and over? It just makes all his league attempts kinda pointless in hindsight. And repeatedly showcasing that hes so compassionate to pokemon can get tiring to see for a while if we go by with that kind of objective in becoming a pkmn master, they should have ended him in johto since that is where he learns to mellow down. But better late than never I guess even his writers saw how stagnant he had become so they finally emulated what made Pokemon adventures objectively stand out, change protagonists. Yeah apologies for the long comment too but I'm actually interested in discussions like this
