- In the Emerald Arc of the manga all 10 Dex holders faced off in a tournament for the tactics symbol and for plot reasons Emerald won so I wanna take a look at who would win the tournament from a power scaling standpoint but don't worry this is just a bit of fun and nothing too serious

11:57 I think something worth mentioning is that manga red is not some try hard perfectionist that needs an unbeatable record.
In fact when red brought up the idea for that tournament in the emerald arc it was just to HAVE FUN.
this is one super underrated thing about his character tbh. the story isn’t afraid of implying that he’s currently on par with green or even blue or that emerald is capable of beating him, in order to maintain his notoriety.
he’ll always be the fighter.
Red & Gold are the most creative strategists, Blue is the most conventional and optimal thinker, and Silver & Sapphire own the most brute force. Green has the best gimmicks and Ruby also more or less falls into that category, and while Crys & Yellow aren't battlers, they do have fighting spirit. Emerald falls closest to Blue in terms of style but also has a mix of Green in the gimmicks and gadgets he uses to fight which augments his approach.
If Emerald really did win this tournament, it’d with determination, luck, and just by a hair.
-And my God, I love Yellow and all, but she’d be a coughing baby against nine hydrogen bombs-
Yellow does have that "instantly level up to the 80's+" ability and I feel like if she really wanted to, she could use it before each battle and then just not use it in battle. Same with her healing ability so as to not technically "cheat"
But yeah, I could also imagine Yellow going in with her severely underleveled team and getting trounced like she did in against Blue's gym team
@@jayd.doubledubswhere it is true she can just jump her pokemon level and in turn power she still has to deal with the others tactics skills combat experience and knowledge which would still put her in a postion where she a coughing teenager vs hydrogen bombs
yellow is the strongest but only in specific circumstances, in this she'd be out round one.

Adventures Red is the best Red of all of them. He's got personality and a sick eye for battles, Blue's stoic attitude works great against him for a long drawn out fight
This is an interesting one. I do pretty much agree for the most part, only really minor things I’d disagree with.
My head canon for how Emerald won in the manga has always been specifically because Red Vs Blue happened - I can see those two exhausting each other and showing all their moves so Emerald goes in with a massive advantage (seeing as they’d have also only seen him battle twice)
That’d make a lot of sense
Plus, the levels would be set to 50.

I thought that only applied for the virtual fighters? I'm pretty sure the battle frontier had no limit.
i love this kinda video, power scaling the Pokespé characters is a super sick concept so this might be a bit of a longer comment:
*I do wanna preface this comment by saying i think you kinda focus to much on the level aspect of the tourney, only because the levels in game are set to 50. so no matter if Gold pulls up with pibo, they all will match within the same level range.
Silver and Green- Remember that Both of these characters also come from training from the Masked Man, even though there were certain fields that both were taught to specialize under- Will and Karen are both taught under him as well and went as far as to become elite 4 members, so it’s super safe to assume both of these trainers have battle experience even before receiving/stealing their staters.
Yellow: While i do agree she is one of the strongest dex holders when serious, i still don’t think she’s the strongest at this point in the story. I think she DID face probably the strongest trainer at this point in time ( being Lance ) she did have help in fighting him, even when serious though she ain’t supposed to be taken lightly at ALL.
Gold: i think him making it so far actually makes sense in terms of a sanctioned battle, Gold is a trainer known to take experiences from past battles and make them his own talents ( seen from him adapting to Silver’s battle style when fighting in Olivine ) plus him vs sapphire would be such a cool fight
Sapphire: While her battle style is super aggressive, i think a 3rd pokemon to prolly round out her team would definitely be Rono ( Donphan ) since that was her 3rd member- or Tropius to give her some aerial mobility against someone like Emerald and Ruby’s more grounded team. She’s also 1 of 4 trainers who would be more accustomed to fighting in a tourney style rather then the wild fighting that usually goes on. ( other 3 being Red, Blue, Green )
Ruby vs Blue: GOD THIS ONE WOULD BE SICK. Blue would immediately pick up on Ruby’s innate talent for battling and be able to devise strategies to counter act them, even being able to bring Red’s “surprise factor” into the mix which i really think brings him over the edge in terms of this battle, But Ruby isn’t a slouch either. While he can’t edge out of one of the two strongest trainers of the series Ruby would definitely be able to impress Blue for sure.
Crystal vs Green: While her battling ability isn’t up to par with someone like Green’s the feat her Hittmonchan has doenst really count towards this battle. I only say that considering that Emerald was the one who executed that move and not her, and Green is way to cunning for someone like Crystal who could read pokemon better then people
Really love the Versus Screen edits and dialogue you made. Massive kudos.
In fairness, looking at the story, Emerald has home field advantage over Red, by being more familiar with the Battle Dome. Secondly, Red just recently recovered from being de-petrified, and his ''best'' self in battle shines outside of conventional tournaments, such as ''death battles'' with the villain team. It can stand to reason Red can actually lose to Emerald when you take into account all the factors Emerald has over him at that particular point in the story.
However, if the author wants to keep Red from losing, I can imagine Red and Blue ending their match in a ''draw'' and the final match will be between Emerald and Gold.
It was pretty canon that red and blue were pretty much identical in overall stats in FRLG. Unlike pokemon red, its more likely they had a draw with pikachu and charizard.
This is a big question. For plot reasons, it canonically has to be Emerald. But if we take away plot armor, I'd say all contestants are for the most part pretty even
For this tournament, I feel like Crystal would let Emerald borrow more of her pokemon like he did before and it would be kinda in-character for Emerald to pick the best combination of pokemon and movesets to counter everyone else. But that's very heavy in head canon, and I feel like Emerald would want to prove himself and use his very own pokemon

In manga original names Blue is the girl who have Blatoise, and Green (Gary Oak manga version) have Charizard. In USA names were changed. In the rest of manga names were exchanged, but in the Battle tournament position of the Pokedexholders, Blue and Green did not changed their position
This tournament would be epic as much as the gym leader tournament between Kanto and Johto.
2:25 also, without Battle Dome rules, she could cheat and heal her team indefinitely

great video friend, I share your opinion on the subject although I differ on the part of Emerald vs Gold, since I believe that Gold would win for having more experience, being strategic and having been trained by the Kanto champion, thus being the final Red vs Gold, master vs apprentice (also a reference to Gold's words in the mt. silver special and the battle that the GSC/HGSS protagonist has with Red in the games) although I must admit that you made me reconsider if Emerald was capable to beat Gold, which I really liked about your video. And who would win between Red and Gold? Well, it's obvious who it would be but anything could happen. And I always think that Emerald went to the front again to officially defeat Tucker. But that's just my opinion, and like I said great video keep it up 👍
In the original I think red lost to green because she tricked him and red wasn’t that serious about it if she didn’t he would have obliterated everyone except for blue yellow and emerald he would still beat them but with extreme difficulty
glad i found a consistent youtuber who focuses on adventures! question: do you think any of the new dexholders since then would make deep runs into a tournament if it were held now? i think in terms of just battling you're looking at platinum, black, soudo - i might be missing other ones

Nice video, it's great seeing the adventure manga getting some love. Just a suggestion, can we talk about the wasted potential of Sird (or Saque, or whatever she is called). She was an absolute menace in Fire Red Leaf Green Arc, turn out to be the one behind it all in Emerald Arc, only to be written off screen.
She was definitely a badass villain maybe the writers couldn’t use her anymore since team galactic haven’t appeared again either
@@VeeVolt she is shown to blend in and disguise as various villain team member, and the fact that she managed to petrify 5 of the dex holder, including some of the strongest like Red and Blue, actually got me scared when she shows up again in diamond chapter, only for her to be gone again in 3 panels

Cause she is third Dex holders which pokemon reached level 80 and was mostly on par with red and blue

Red vs sapphire- same as result red vs ruby
Red vs emerald red mid difficulty
Red vs green- Red high extreme difficulty
Red vs blue - red high extreme difficulty it could go either way

I know you're saying Emerald won thanks to plot armor because the drastic gap in their levels would've made it a clear win for Red...but that's not entirely true. For example, you can still beat Red's team of level 70-80 mons from HGSS even if your team is in the 60s as long as you got the type advantage. And as you said before, Emerald thrives in these Battle Frontier fights and naturally has a clear advantage over Red when it comes to them.
If it was a full on 6v6, I'm sure Red would win. If it was a life or death battle, I'm sure Red would win. But considering the rulesets of this tournament, along with the fact Emerald canonically wins, and that Red was battling for fun while Emerald clearly wanted to win this last frontier symbol, I just gotta give it to him
The plot compels me to choose Red or Emerald. But my pick would be Blue for the ultimate win.
I want it to be red cus I really don't like emerald much at all, but if we're honest it easily could be either. I wish they made a spinoff arc so we could actually see the outcome :/

Gold is what u call a street fighter. In a no rule zone he will win. In a strict rule zone he will have a hard time
the name switches got me confuse so I thought Crystal face agenst blue instead of green
I hate how power scaling gets a bad wrap it’s just a nerdy hobby with some bad people in it but people act like it’s the end of the world or some thing just cause they don’t like it.
I believe if all dex holders are allowed then black and blake will wipe the floor with all of them snd they will have the finals and their battle will be really interesting
2:17 well, I’m going to say this. If it were down to me I would ignore levels. It’s a facility where levels get restricted to keep everyone on an even footing. I still think Yellow would lose, but I don’t think it’s fair, or particularly interesting, to say it’s because of the level disadvantage. On that basis the only people with a chance are Red, blue and Green

Before This Tournament, IF You ask me “Who’d Win: Red OR Emerald?”, I’d answer immediately: MY Boi, Red “The Battler”…BUT Then You put into account THIS Tournament and I can’t answer that question cause it’s been confirmed that despite Red & Green/Blue Oak or even Silver & Blue/Green, SOMEHOW Emerald OFFICIALLY WON The DexHolder Tournament thus getting The Tactics Symbol AND beating The Deadline Challenge which means besides The 1 Confirmed Win AND 2 Most Probable Wins, The rest of The Battles may OR may not went to ANY of our expectations😱
Maybe Sapphire did beat Gold, Maybe Red & Green tied with each other thus taking out each other; OR there’s a very teeny weeny chance MY Boi, Red somehow actually lost to Emerald. These unknowns that are still unanswered are The EXACT reason Why I can NEVER make A DexHolder Strength TierList🤪😓

Ngl at this point of the manga i still think ruby is the strongest, most of that is pretty much from the fact that as a child he fended of a salamence and that he caught a celebi.
Salamence feat was impressive but for celebi he didn’t catch it the Pokémon travelled through time to join rubys side because it knew he was gonna need it’s help
You’re asking which dex holder would win in the BATTLE tower that requires them to have pokemon BATTLES. Who is the only dex holder that is known as the BATTLER? Would u look at that, it’s Red. Give Emerald all the prep in the world but will still lose because Red has the innate talent for battling. Petrification or not his instincts would kick in the moment the battle starts. Only Blue can realistically keep up among the rest as the goku/vegeta example mentioned

The characters have plot armor too. Also plot armor is protecting a character from death.
