I enjoyed this so much. Looking forward to all of the upcoming videos! Such a great first seaday after the whirlwind beginning. I didn’t enjoy much about Vancouver logistics myself, but look forward to sailing from the beautiful port again. I appreciate you speaking about the scooter.

Hi Arlynn, we met in Skagway! (Jim & Linda) 🙂 I also had an excursion booked on the zipline at Icy Strait Point and would have loved to have done it with Barb!! I did it once before, I think in 2018, but that was before the Gondola was built, so I was looking forward to ziplining with the new setup. It was still such a GREAT cruise!!!!

I can feel for you with your wheelchair experience at the airport. I had something similar happen to me in February at Hea throw Airport. We were on a flight from Barcelona that was late.but we still had 40 minutes to catch our connection. I have bad knees and I cannot walk quickly so I always get a wheelchair in the airport. We got off the plane and the cart was there. He put us in the cart and we thought we were going to get to our gate in time to catch our connection. But the driver said I have to get other people off the plane so he kept going on and getting them and bringing them off and getting them in the cart and then he realized he had too many people to fit in the cart and he looked at my sister and I and said you've already missed your plane so if you could get out of the cart and walk over here you can reschedule your flight. We ended up having to spend the night at a hotel. The next day we were in the airport 8 hours before our flight was to take off and we almost missed it because they do not announce the boarding gate until the plane is ready to board. The handicap lounge where we were waiting kept telling us they were coming with the wheelchair to get us. They finally came with a cart and we were one of the last three people to board the plane before they closed the gate. Airline travel used to be an adventure now it just fills me with stress and anxiety.

I also had an awful experience at Vancouver- I was in a sporty lightweight manual wheelchair then cost £6000 and the cushion was £500, when we landed my wheelchair was brought to the aircraft door with the cushion ripped and the mud guard missing - we waited on aircraft until they found the missing part which originally they said they didn’t have 🙄 by now it’s been way over an hour and late at night, the rip on the special cushion meant the fabric was very coarse and spiky so was extremely uncomfortable and due to the time there was no BA staff to complain to and seek compensation as I needed now a new cushion- we were offered no help as it was my own wheelchair and the same at Vancouver Cruise port we couldn’t get assistance as I was in my own wheelchair so I had to hold both suitcases, a bag on lap and hubby had bag on back and pushed me but I kept dislocating my shoulders I too was in tears but still no help unless I got into one of their wheelchairs but then there was no one to push mine it just didn’t make sense! Once home BA paid £300 towards a new cushion which then cost £680 - it was a very upsetting and stressful travel I have to admit and I’ve never experienced such lack of help this was way before covid too I believe it was 2017. So sorry you also had this treatment and I’m sorry to hear your mobility has declined 😢 I’m now a full time electric wheelchair user and can’t fly anymore due to health - I completely understand the frustration and my hubby too is a Saint he is my 24/7 carer and looks after me so so well ❤

Arlynn, we had a very bad time in the Vancouver airport several years ago and I'm considering for our next Alaska cruise (2023 or 2024), asking someone at Princess if it's possible to get a road trip transfer from Seattle instead of flying into Vancouver. I know it will be a long drive and might be costly but Vancouver airport and their personnel left a very bad taste in my mouth. Question: I have back issues and I'm wondering how and where you got your scooter. (I feel pretty good sitting but standing and walking can really hurt after about 15 minutes). Thanks.

Hi Melissa, I actually shared where I got my scooter and more info about it in a video that I created for my Country Craft Corner channel, let me get you a link so that you can take a look. :)
