Every cruiser should watch this video! I cruise with a wheelchair so I can relate to all the problems. Most of all, be patient!

I really enjoyed your video. I also use a scooter on my cruise and the people were very rude. I would wait for 30 minutes to 45 minutes before I could get on to the elevator. Thank you so much for putting this out. Your mother is a beautiful young lady, thank you once again🎉

I’ve found that on cruise ships most able bodied passengers will all stop at the very first elevator that they come to. The whole area will be super crowded and congested with passengers. I’ll bypass that elevator and head for the bank of elevators either forward or to the back. And since I’m on a scooter, I never pass up an elevator with room to enter. It’s ok to just ride up 3-4 floors to then ride back down to the actual floor that you want.

I always insist that people on scooters or wheelchairs enter the elevator ahead of me. I can walk, so I am better off.

When on a cruise , I walk ahead of my husband that is on the scooter to make a path for him , also I put my arm out and let him in the elevator, most people can’t wait for you to go out . Always excuse me watch your toes .

I have a huge issue with scooters on a tender.. our last cruise had 6 scooters on our tender. In the case of an emergency it would have been very serious.

Hi Evelyn, thank you for your comment! Yes, especially if the tender is not designed to transport scooters. I was surprised (in a good way) on my last cruise at how well equipped the tender was to handle wheelchairs and scooters. However, in the past I have brought my mom to a tender in her scooter and turned right around because it didn't seem safe.

I use a scooter and my husband has Asperger's. We are each able to care for each other. We will leave out of Miami or Florida or Gulf. Should I use a travel agent and book one year ahead?

Hi, I would definitely consider using a reputable travel agent. They will be able to make sure that your travel plans will accommodate your needs. I think that nine months to one year is usually a good lead time for booking.
