The Mondeo now runs fine, the injectors DID need changing even though they were not the only issue..

The Savage Garage did this fix the problem? Just started having the same issue with the light a few days ago and I remembered about your video. So I've looked up the video but I can't find an answer in the comments, if this fixed the problem or not yet. Cheers!

Glad to hear your car runs fine. These engines are shared with Peugeot / Citroen and are some of the most reliable units that you can buy. That being said, you do need to service it properly. Fuel filters should be replaced every 2 years MAX. I change mine every year (does give a slight MPG improvement which pays off). If you don't, you can cause fuel starvation.
Fuel injectors don't need replacing because the diesel return lines are uneven - it can indicate a fault but it's not a fault in itself!

just found this video, and the injector video too. i have just begun to have this issue. ran diagnostic and came back with multiple intake codes. mechanic told me my turbo was no good, not worth replacing, just scrap the car. the car runs and drives perfect. this light comes on intermittently and enables limp home mode, either when cold or under load. i already bought oil, air and fuel filters to do a little service as i noticed all the fluid levels were low and needed filling. i was pricing up new turbo, injectors, glow plugs etc when i came across this fuel filter video.
you may have saved me thousands if this fixes my car too. i have it booked in for a full engine carbon clean due to its high mileage and the fuel filter will get fitted before this.
thank you my brother. bless you x

If you still have problem most likely your variable geometry turbo is sticking. You can remove it and clean it out with special cleaning kit. You can research how to do if your unsure. 👍🏻

There is a spring catch that clips on to the top left of the filter. Mondeo's also only run properly with a Bosch or Delphi filter. It's a Delphi fuel system in these and other filters don't do the same job that these 2 do.

I have this problem. I replaced the filter and needs changing again as the fault has come back. on the ODB read out it says it is P0251 i think, and clears if I restart the engine. My problem occurs 99% of the time at around 1750rpm in 4rd gear or above (so motorway speeds) (sometimes in 3rd gear) when using a lot of throttle.
I think it's the fuel pump that disintegrates (over time) and then lttle pieces of metal get stuck in the old filter. When there is fuel going through there isn't enough fuel getting to the engine, because of the partially blocked fuel filter. Although I've not done my injectors, I need to do them and the heater coils.

A lot of people seem to have trouble with tdci engine had a mk3 mondeo for 10 years with no trouble I’ve found the best way to keep them running trouble free is service more often than stated and only use quality parts don’t but supermarket fuel in them its cheep for a reason it’s shit and they need driving hard now and then to keep every thing moving they don’t like pottering around on short runs mind you this pretty much goes for all modern diesels

I had the same issue. Coil light under load. I have the 2.2TDCI engine. Always happened on a slip road or when I was powering up hill in Wales. I took mine to a diesel specialist after several garages failed to find the problem. They ran tests and decided it was the fuel pressure regulator. I only have the issues now if the engine is cold and I’m asking to much of it but it does still happen on the odd occasion. Fuel filter was tried with no luck either.

I've got a 2.2 and sometimes coil light comes on and turbo completely stops... no power and much deeper tone.
It happens very randomly, sometimes a brisk acceleration to 85, but other times i can drive it flat out at 130 with no issues... othertimes from a start it'll come on and have to flick ignition on and off multiple times. Ive got a bit of white smoke on startup so assuming injector/s weeping possibly or worn out?
I've got a hybrid turbo on, exhaust, panel filter, intercooler and boost pipes, brand new clutch and DMF so want to sort the remaining issues before remapping and enjoying it to its full potential..

    • @PERRECTUMpl
      @PERRECTUMpl 4 года назад

Don't crank it! You will ruin high pressure pump and injectors. There is special air-removing procedure of Common Rail Fuel Injection system. You do this by connecting car to computer with software (Forscan extended version has this feature I guess) that supports this procedure. You never start engine through this procedure, only ignition on when program says it to.
Never ever start engine after fuel filter exchange, even if you filled up filter with diesel. It doesn't matter. There will always get some air inside fuel lines and if you crank the engine to start, you CR pump will work without lubrication from fuel, which is simply very costly in the end (CR pump regeneration/exchange and injectors replace, whole fuel system should be cleaned after this from any metal particles).
In this video (with all respect to author, I love his other mondeo videos, great job!) we can see how you shouldn't do that (starting engine without air-removing procedure).

hi ya folks i have a 2 liter tdci ive had the coil light come on and it goes into limp mode if i accelerate in a certain manner at a certain revs , ive just change the fuel filter as that was one of the codes it thrw up , but i did it with a friend who said it didnt need priming with fuel so now it wont start ,
what do i look at now as im thinking it might be the lift pump in the tank , but should i try filling the filter up with fuel first ?
im thinking its the lift pump because i cant hear it as i turn on the igtition , but ive never heard it since ive owned the car , , but now i have put air in the system , so maybe it is the pump ???? help me lol

I've changed these filters loads of times and I can tell you, despite what anyone else says you will be very lucky to start the car after if you don't fill the filter first or use a vacuum pump to draw the fuel up. There is a hand primer on the engine but it doesn't work very well

  • @vtiniall

Mine is acting at the moment 2005 2.2 TDCI ST, rough ldling and under load, the coil come on and limp mode. I was told the top three areas to look for is the Crank position sensor, Which will arrive today, if not then after watching this good video, I will change the fuel filter. The Injectors where changed already about 4 months ago. So I hope it is not them fouling.
