chicken takoyaki would be awesome to see :) All the fillings you mentioned - if you ever get bored of doing RUclips, you could just open a "dessert takoyaki" shop and make those on the streetside or something :D
I just love these recipe videos, kinda more "casual" and full of joy to watch specially when you don't stick stiff to a plan. Hard do describe but it's just fun to watch, sure every video is always a joy on it's own different way. What I'd like to say is, that "not perfect" is a good thing and more approachable. But like a said, every video is amazing. I've recently shared your German Christmas treats test from TabiEats channel and friends from Germany loved it😍 Have a wonderful day😘
I love castella-ever since my childhood. Whenever my relatives would visit from Japan, they always brought castella. I’ve always wanted a takoyaki pan, so now I have an excuse to purchase one. I also have the little greaser thing-from Daiso. Wow! I knew that mirin was used in many dishes, but in castella? Who would’ve known!! Thank you for sharing boys! Great recipe, brother Satoshi! YES! YES! YES!!!! To Takoyaki with and without tako.
I’ve never seen this before. It was so much fun to watch them transform into little balls. There are so many different sweet sauces that could go with these. I would love these for brunch. Great recipe guys!
I think a small piece of banana inside each ball would be delish too, oh and matcha powder as a sub for aonori in the sweet takoyaki? Great video, guys!
Yes they look exactly like our Æbleskiver (Appel balls) that we have here in Danmark - we eat them at Christmas with jam and powdered sugar. And also like to have them with a glass of mulled wine 🎄 In the old days they would put a piece of appel inside, hence the name "Æbleskiver" ("Appel balls) 😉
Want to make these dangerously good? Taco bell in Canada make a cinnabon dessert that looks like these. *So when they are warm, lightly powder with cinnamon and sugar. Then fill the centers with cream cheese frosting. You can eat them like that or once you are all done you can warm them up for a few seconds in the microwave when you want some. They taste better all warmed up.
I like you satoshi.! Your recipe is the best.. easy to understand and now I’m thinking of trying it for my hubby and daughter🥰. We do like octopus, they are num num.! happy holidays to you two🎄
I prefer fillings to toppings usually, so custard, fruit, anko, even caramel filling sounds good on the sweet side. I'd love a veggie option on the savory side--broccoli and cheese, mushroom, etc. I'm sure any imaginative filling or topping you come up with for the castella would be yummy. Thanks for the recipe, Satoshi!
Hello Shinichi and Satoshi! These mini Castella cakes look so yummy! Some other people mention making æbleskiver. Those are so delicious, and would be fun to try in your cooker! Shinichi recently had olibollen in the Netherlands. Those are deep-fried, but I wonder what it would be like to try making them in this machine, too? Yes, please make takoyaki, too. They are so good. Thanks for the great video! :-)
I was just going to comment: "Drizzle with chocolate sauce to make it look more like Takoyaki." And there he goes saying it. XD For Bonito, maybe sliced almonds or coconut shaves, for Aonori, shredded peppermint? And maybe use diced apple to simulate the pieces of octopus in the Takoyaki? And yes, everybody should have a Takoyaki maker. They're just so darn hard to find over here in Switzerland. T.T
I'm sure you could get find an Ebleskiver Danish Pancake and make them on the hob. I got mine from Amazon in the UK after reading and and watching videos of Japanese ex-pats in Europe using them.
@@christophercuckow6329 Bonito flakes: but then I'd substitute maple syrup for the chocolate sauce. Ruby and dark chocolate don't mix so well, in my experience. :) The dark chocolate completely overpowers the delicate aroma of it's ruby counterpart. T.T Danish pancake mold: I will check that out. ^.^ Thanks!
You MUST do a Takojaki video. I've never found anywhere in the UK that serves them and I've just bought a Takojaki recipe book and pan to make my own but would see your home cooking style before I have my first few failed attempts. Also what do you think about Umebosh as a filling?
Those look really good. I thought the pizza version was also good. Why not try making a pork taco version, with a mole type sauce drizzled over the top?
I have a cake pop maker and I've been thinking about making takoyaki with that cake pop maker do you think that would be a good idea I think it would work
Oishi! Love these cooking videos! The baby castella looked so kawaii! I don't have the pan so I am going to try in a waffle maker. (Watch this space) Definitely want to see you make takoyaki. When I was in Osaka I found a lovely guy in a side-street of Dotonburi who agreed to make me the takoyaki without the tako. He just didn't put it in and the balls were delicious - I think it's all the toppings that give the taste!
Here's an idea - break up chocolate into small chunks and drop one into the middle of the batter mix .. I was writing and listening to the video at the same time ...and you just had the same idea!!! Great minds think alike 😄
First of all, I'd love to see you make takoyaki. I have a takoyaki pan, but it's not like this one. Just to pan to put in oven or stove top. I really want to make these but wonder how I can make them in my pan. My daughters absolutely love getting bags of the little castella balls from the Japanese market (when they were younger they decided they looked like acorns, so that's now our nickname for them).

ALOHA GUYS!! My vote for you to make on the next recipe would be Spam-Yaki … is that a term? Anyways, that cooker looks very much like a Aebleskiver pan … have you heard of these Danish Pancakes? They're delicious served with Jam. But I stray off topic here … yeah, Spam would be wonderful in place of say Tako or Bonito or what have you.

How creative Satoshi! The castella looked delicious! Yes make some with custard filling, I love custard! 😋😋😋
hey lady murasaki!
My grandmother was danish and she made these pancake balls called aebleskiver. They look just like this and the pan is the same too. Delish!
I remember seeing those on Amazon.com.
They look like Aebleskivers. I like this recipe because Satoshi makes it look so easy. I can't wait to try it!
Thank you Shinichi and Satoshi! :)

Saw a takoyaki pan on Kapabashi dori, but didn't want a one purpose pan. Now I regret not getting it with all your great ideas.

Thank you I love it when you do your cooking . Thank you for shering your video
Cream cheese or strawberries might be yummy in it. This is a great idea! Great for a party! Happy Holidays!
They look so yummy and easy to make. Thanks for the recipe Satoshi. Also the idea of the fillings sounds great.
You can also add a little dollop of anko/tsubuan in the middle, too. I like rolling them in sugar while they're still hot, as well.
Looks good. :) I would love to see you make takoyaki with chicken or something else.
More videos on these recipes! Write them down Satoshi!
Yes please i would like to see you make takoyaki 😍

Oooh, they're like ebelskiver--mini danish pancakes! And yes, I'd love a recipe with different savory options like shrimp or chicken!
Why don't you try putting a piece of cooked chicken in the middle and then when done dip or cover in sweet and sour sauce.
Ohhhh, I would LOVE to see different styles of takoyaki! I have a cast iron takoyaki pan and would love to learn more recipes to use it for.

I definitely love your cooking videos, Satoshi! 💖
Sweet Takoyaki, please!
They would be good with fruit, or chocolate or pie filling in the center.
Yes!! I would love to see tako yakinor any type of filling. Mmmm maybe bacon!!! Sausage!! Cheese! Bacon and cheese!! 😁
Ooo. I love this recipe. I hope I can buy a takoyaki maker. Thanks fot sharing.
I would love to see tokoyaki with chicken instead of octopus. The batter always looks so good but I'm more accustomed to chicken than seafood.
Yummmm.....oh, how about filling it with custard? Or jam?
Denmark has a similar treat called an Æbleskiver, or ebleskiver. I've yet to try them, too.
Love it, thank you for this, my husband loves Castella and I will try for the first time today.

@TabiEats Recipes For Aonori in this recipe, you could get decorating green sugar, or maybe get dried ground coconut and dye it green, too. :-)
One of the restaurants here makes something like that, called “Pancake Puppies.”
I was just going to comment: "Drizzle with chocolate sauce to make it look more like Takoyaki." And there he goes saying it. XD

I like that idea but if they are served cold, what about shaved ruby chocolate as Bonito flakes? I think it would look more like it.
