Just bought my first car, looking into how to take care of it since i was never taught that when i was growing up. Honestly looking through videos i trust ones like this and one i saw by scotty kilmer (i think thats his name) way more than the channel Chemical Guys cuz it felt like they were trying to sell me products. Ill be coming back to your channel a lot
Did this for the first time on a old junk truck Something’s I learned 1. I soon realized how badly out of shape I was. 2. Focus on one panel at a time and if your doing it by hand 🖐️ going to be a while 3. Wait a full 3 minutes minimum to let wax dry and be sure to wax off all of the excess dried wax or else you might have some touching up to do the next day. Wax on is the easy part but wax off is what you don’t want to mess up. 4. Any left over or missed dried wax you will have to spot and see the next day if you did like me and did a 70% job haha 😂 5. For best workout results do wash clean first, Dry, then hand compound , then polish , then wax
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART NOT TO WAX ON A HOT DAY UNDER THE SUN OR ELSE YOU CAR’S paint will be ruined and I did it learnt from my mistake …after that ….car wash liquid hose wax $3 never damaged
Yup, that's correct. The only time I'd do anything else, is if there's contaminants in the clear coat (like tree sap, stuck on road debris, or bugs). Which a clay bar would remove. Other than that, I just wash and dry it before I wax
Bro do a whole panel at a time and while it’s drying do another panel and then go back it’s literally not that hard it would probably take 45 minutes to a hour to do a whole truck now if you’re older than 40 I can see this taking you 2 hours or so but tbh if you’re young you can do it so quickly compared to 2 hours+
I’m 43… I use the same method that you described and your right.. I can wax my ram 1500 in about 45 mins. So let’s say maybe geezers over 50?.. they might take 2 hours.
If you're doing it outside, cloudy, since you don't want direct sunlight on the car while waxing. It'll cause it to dry too fast and bake on, which makes it a pain to buff off
Like silicone based waxes and polishes? If it's meant to be applied on the paint, you should be fine. Just don't do it on brand new paint of course. (Paint that's been sprayed recently needs to off-gas for about 60-90 days before any sealants can be applied)
A quick question, there are times when I've applied it direct under the sunlight after washing g my bike as i do not have a garage or a parking area of my own. Could you help me with the harm or affect that can have on the paint of my bike.?
Most waxes cannot be applied in direct sunlight because they will dry too quickly and be very difficult to remove . The wax will not stick to the surface very well if it’s too hot. If I don't have a shaded area to apply the wax, I'll usually find a spot at the carwash to do it. They usually have some shaded spots open.
Two hours to wax a vehicle? You’re fired. Maybe two hours to wash, dry, clay(if needed) blow everything out, apply wax and remove the wax. I do this for a living song being quick is how I eat.
Are you saying 2 hours is too long or too short? I did a full detail on 3 cars in a single day. Waxing took me approx 30 mins to apply each car, and 30 minutes to wax off. Waxing alone took 3 hours, for 3 vehicles. And Im a hard worker and know what im doing
I used to own a land cruiser 200 series, didn’t take me more than 45 mins to wax it all (including the removing part). Paint looked pretty decent and I try to be very detailed with my car.. not sure how it can take more than that
I know there is 1 million ways to do something, but I would suggest NOT going in a circle motion but yet to a # pattern ( it makes sure you got everything)... Straight lines are easier for us detailers to get out then circle motions, if it wasn't cleaned right before waxed 🥴😉
Why don’t I need to polish it? I’m kinda confused. A lot of people are saying it is wash, clay, polish and wax but some says if you have white paint you can skip the polish just do wash, clay and wax. Please teach me.
Polishing removes any swirls or small scratches. Scratches blend with white, so you hear many say it's not necessary. With any other color, a polish may give it a cleaner appearance if followed by waxing.
You don't always need to polish your paint, if you don't have a lot of swirls or light scratches, you can get away with just applying wax. Now for the clay bar, I only use a clay bar in "emergency" situations (like if there's sap, water deposits, anything that's stuck in the clearcoat). Overtime, using a clay bar or polishing will remove clearcoat. It's like a very fine sandpaper. So I only use them every now and then. As for white paint, you don't notice swirls or scratches as easily. That's why people say to skip polish...But they should also skip the clay bar as well. If you've never had your paint detailed properly, I'd say go through and wash it, use a clay bar, polish then wax it. After that, just keep up on washing it then waxing every 3 months or so. Then when you start to see a lot of swirls or light scratches, polish the paint. Hope this helped out!
@@SlothKingGarage Thanks for the run down there. Just started detailing and I'm going to be ceramic coating my personal car to start just wanted to have the steps down pat!

Coming back again 3 weeks later 😂 thanks again bro
Awesome to hear! Keep coming back!
First time waxing my car just today wasn't bad took about an 1hour 18 minutes give or take definitely worth it in the end.
Not bad at all! Definitely worth the effort 👌🏼

So I tried this method and left wax rings I think I left it on too long whoops think if I was again it’ll come off
@@InvestwithKhan Yeah it varies by case. But if you put some water on it, it'll wipe off easily
@@SlothKingGarage oh nice I’ll try Thnkx 😊😊
Did this by myself today and yes it took almost 2 hours rather do it myself then pay someone
And sometimes you dont have to do whole car maybe just the roof
Whats a good wax to use?

If you want something easy and super durable, try turtle wax seal and shine new formula. It’s insanely easy and works on all surfaces.

I recommend some spray wax, way faster just as good.

Somebody been watching tooo much @chrisfix lol 😆
Two hours for that one panel?

Really helpful btw can we apply such waxes on car windscreen and door glass?
You sure can! It's the equivalent of having Rain-X on your windows. I do it all the time

By this video I found out that I was using way too much wax
Yeah I’m going to pay someone next time…It took me at least 4 hours to do this, probably closer to 5.

How lmao 😊
Don’t go over the crevices of your car it’s a pain in the ass to clean in between the ass cracks

Can you do it with an electric waxer
Yeah, I see no issue using this method with an electric waxer
Should I apply wax after washing- clay bar
Or after washing -clay bar - polish?
Thank you !
After you wash, if you need to use a clay bar, use one. Same goes for polishing. Wax will be the last step to seal everything

Why do u have to or need to Use Gloves
To keep chemicals off your hands. You don't want anything to seep into your skin, including wax. Plus it keeps your hands clean
@@SlothKingGarage Thats true too, but I wear gloves to keep my dirty hands off the clean car lmfao
