Nissan has its place in automotive history as a brand that has done pretty amazing things for car enthusiasts. We have the 180SX,240sx, 300zx, 350z, and so many more. However one has been overshadowed from the spotlight for years especially for Americans. This is due they were never legal in America due to the 25 year old import rule. The car I'm speaking of is the Nissan Pulsar GTIR - a car that is so bonkers for it's time in the early 90's it's hard to believe its a real car. A SR20 powered, all wheel drive, group A Rally car that ran 13 second quarter mile times in the early 90's. So does this live up as being the baby Nissan GTR? Let's go for a drive.
Stay awesome. Drift into blue squad and subscribe!

    RNN14 GTI-R SR20. It had 440cc injectors, ITBs and one T28 turbo.

The GTI-R was special, I wish I never sold mine. It had mild mods, straight pipe with dump tip. Rebuilt, tuned and bigger cams etc. It had aggressive idle and the odd backfire in 2006 before backfires where cool lol... Gearboxes aren't as bad as they are made out to be. Fit a beefy clutch, sticky tyres and up the power then sidestep the clutch and yes you will break it. 30k miles in mine and it was fine. On the owners club the failure rate on the gearboxes was less than 10%. given how many cars had much more power than OEM it's not that bad.
The VZR N1 is a believe 200PS. The normal VZR was 180PS I believe. I'm some ways the engine/car is better in others not so much. The N15 rear suspension is a backwards step over the N14 IMHO. Don't think that the N15 is any lighter than the N14. a VZR would be lighter than a GTiR but it doesn't have the turbo or the drivetrain. AFAIK the Sunny GTI was lighter than the Almera GTI and I don't think that the SR16VE saved much over the SR20DE.
Still have some regret over loosing my Sunny GTI and Pulsar GTiR...

I live in Australia and we never got GTiR's here either. I own a privately imported GTiR which I'm currently converting to a track car.
It has forged internals, upgraded from the standard T28 to a Garrett GT30 ball bearing turbo, front mount intercooler, full 3" mandrel exhaust from dump pipe, apexi SAF-CII controller, full 6 way adjustable coilovers, custom short-shifter, bosch 440hp fuel pump (unfortunately still running standard injectors and ECU...for now, lol), Turbosmart dual stage boost controller.
    Ran on the dyno 182KW (244HP) @ 18PSi-from all 4 wheels.
I love my baby Godzilla!! Lol.

We also got the GTi-R in Australia as well. I never owned one (I’d still love to have one some time), but I did own a regular 1995 Pulsar Q. As you said in the video, it was a little uneventful, but those GA16DEs were indestructible. Is this thing having any gearbox issues? I was really debating with myself on getting a GTIR but after doing some research, the gearboxes are extreamly weak and have problems as soon as you throw even bolt-on power upgrades at it.
Is it a stock gearbox? 300-350 hp should have created some detrimental issues with the car. There is some aftermarket gearbox parts for these that can handle upwards of 600hp but they are extreamly expensive and from what I've seen, VERY hard to find.
