    I traveled to Puerto Rico to see the car culture and met some pretty awesome people. However over the decades there have been some weird oddball performance cars throughout history and when I ran in to this Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 I knew I had to get my hands on it. This SRT6 is one of the few truly modified versions I've ever seen, and the amount I learned about this very weird car the more it made me curious and interested. After completing this in depth review, I can definitely say it is one of the strangest but coolest ideas Chrysler ever had while working with Mercedes of all people. Thanks for watching!

      ThatDudeinBlue the Crossfire looks like an SLK... because they used the R170 platform from the previous-gen SLK at the time. It’s like 80% Benz.

    What’s it like owning a Crossfire?
    "Is that a Porsche”
    "Is that a Bentley”
    "I’ve never seen one of these”
    "I like your car”
    Some people hate it, most people love it. A lot of people don’t own them, which means you don’t see them on the road very often, main reason I got mine.

      The SRT-6 has a noticeably harsher ride which is most often cured by installing KONI adjustable shocks. It was harsh enough that I decided to buy a Limited (normally aspirated) Crossfire. You need a young body to withstand the pounding the OE SRT-6 suspension will give you!

    I had driven both the SRT 6 and the Crossfire many times. When I recently went shopping for one I drove several and decided to buy a the Limited with a manual 6 speed, it was simply more fun to drive and half the price of an SRT 6. Driving a faster car with an automatic is fine, but not as much of an enjoyment for me. It has become trendy to put down the Crossfire, but I have driven everything under the sun since 1972, and it's one of the best made, fun to drive, reliable cars for the money out there today.

    I know this is a bit late, but this may be the best use of an imported engine I haveever seen. I have a 2002 AMG C32 (0-60 is 4.7), the vehicle housing the hand-built original examples of the engine mass produced for the srt6 and the engine that started Dodge's power craze. Mopar used the AMG V6 Kompressor m112k to begin a horsepower war in the automotive world. The AMG one has 349HP/332TQ, slightly higher than the SRT6, a ruling likely handed down by upper management.

    I have always liked the SRT6 and test driven it a couple of times. It's so much fun to driven especially on a closed course. Interior is pretty bland but love the exterior! Problem is getting work done it since Chrysler and Mercedes divorced. Chrysler and Mercedes dealers do not like working on it. Wish there were a better aftermarket to spruce up the interior.

    You never see a srt-6 because there were less than 4500 total ever made. Even when somebody does see one they think it is a regular crossfire. If your modded it is the ultimate sleeper. I plan on swapping a m113k (supercharged v8 version of the v6 motor) into mind one day. Simple bolt on’s afterwards and it’s a 10 second sleeper.

      I'm very familiar with the N/A 55 with the six speed build. Rcompart and I built it. It had a custom manufactured clutch and the torque of V8 still over powered the clutch.
      I have the very first M113K AMG V8 Crossfire Roadster ever built in the United States and that engine still destroys the AMG five speed automatic (on my third one now) so I can tell you with absolute certainty the six speed from a N/A wouldn't survive the first pull out of the driveway with a M113K...

    Re-release it today with the same updates to styling as the 300C and a turbo 3.6. Such an underrated-looking car. I'd say make a new motor so it can stay 3 valve (3 valve engines just seem to sound good, and not much worse theoretical performance than 4 valve) but they definitely won't make a whole new engine when they can just drop a Pentastar in it.

    The Neon SRT4 engine was not at all similar to a Mitsubishi engine. And the Crossfire was an SLK that was restyled by Chrysler during the time Daimler Mercedes Benz owned a controling share of Chrysler. Nothing remotely weird about it.

    • @njshift
      @njshift 5 лет назад +3

      Yea I noticed that mistake as well. The A855 was designed and engineered entirely by Chrysler. It’s essentially a reworked/boosted 2.4 out of the standard 2gen neon.
