    Chasing passive income through mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies sounds fun, profitable, and easy but scaling from one mining rig to multiple miners is difficult and expensive. I moved my GPU miners and Bitcoin mining rigs out of my house, and into a shed, which I converted to my own DIY mining farm. Ultimately I invested $100,000 into my mining shed build and mining rigs, unfortunately, I made some costly mistakes along the way. Today I am going to review what I learned building my first mining shed, what I really regretted, and how I am improving my crypto mining shed build with my second one, the VoskCoin Mining Shed 2.0.

      As for filtered ventalation get 4 or 5 water filter vaccums.... Water is the filter, cheaper just to change out the water.

    • @terrafirma9328
      @terrafirma9328 Год назад +1

      Put the water filter vaccums at the cooling tunnel entrances this reduces noise gives the air time to cool from the vaccum motors and distance for moisture from the water filter to fall to ground.

    Vosk, thanks for all of your insight into the pitfalls of mining. You said that you had exhaust fan failures when you built your first mining shed. About 10 years ago, I wanted to install some powered ventilators in my attic gable. I looked at the residential GAF ventilator that was sold at Home Depot for $109 but the quality was not there. I ended up installing a pair of Fantech FADE-10 (10") fans. They are on a thermostat and they only run when it is hot (in the summer in Arizona). I believe that they sell sizes from 8" up to 14" in the FADE product line. These are industrial-grade fans with permanently-lubricated motors. The 10" fan was $300. Very expensive but highly recommended.

    Understandable... I don't think your original assessments were wrong... It's a tremendous learning experience. I always got the impression the best and happiest miners are always using water cooling systems. Water is temperamental... But is easier to temperature regulate.

    For the airflow you could have the flow modeled using computational fluid dynamics software (CFD). A engineering firm can provide this type of service. You can visually see the flow paths, velocities, and pressures. I use it at my work for water flow modeling. It is such a powerful tool to refine designs.

    Hi Drew. I installed an industrial evaporative cooler that is mounted on the outside of my garage wall and it has a permanent water supply (not these shitty coolers you get on Amazon) It has several benefits, because the air is filtered through the celdek panels, it creates positive pressure inside the garage, and believe it or not, positive pressure is actually more efficient in removing the heat and power usage is ridiculously low for its size. I showed it briefly in my cooling system automation video. It might be worth having a look at such a system. Seriously i have got zero heat issues and my garage stays clean and dust free.

My goal is to buy enough miners that they will earn enough every month or two to help pay for the majority of the cost of the new miners so I'm not always spending all my wages to buy new miners. Thanks again.

    Confused, it seems with BTC miners that they have good profit initially, but very quickly become unprofitable, seems like you continually have to upgrade to new model miners every year or two to stay competitive. Also, would like to see a deep-dive into the solar. Are you off-grid or grid-tied? How are you doing the calculations for sizing, seems like you would need thousands of panels and hundreds of batteries.

    still dont see how ASIC mining works. The prices are so high even now that it takes years to ROI and by that time they are worthless because there are years of advancement in the ASIC tech... so it seems super risky. Now mining ALT directly to BTC seems more attenable/safer... no? I agree BTC is here forever but if you can never ROI on the devices that mine it, what's the point...

      Crypto mining is cyclical. So what you had to do is get in early enough in the current cycle to get asics cheap. (Hint: we are close to a full reset). Every asic I bought in Q1 2021 or earlier has already ROIed. In fact, some ascis ROIed and then I sold for a profit before this recent down turn. Don't FOMO and get loans that will destroy you. Make sure your mining operation is super efficient....I adapted and went from home hosting to hosted (save easily over $1k per month). Be flexible and mining various altcoins. I was originally just a gpu miner, but now I'm almost all asics. I adapted based on what I think will happen with the merge.

    Dude use gable vent or louver vent for your intakes. If you have 16" oc studs, then you can use a 14" vent. I use a 14" x 20" louver vent that's rated at 2500 cfm. The louver vent I purchased came with a built in bug screen. Just slap a few of those in and make sure you have filters. You can also have louver vents custom sized. For exhaust fans, either fit between studs or install header for larger fans. Make sure you exhaust fans are higher cfm then your intake and/or even have additional auxiliary fans. I use temperature controlled exhaust fans that ramp up and down depending on temperature. Also consider evaporative cooling system for intake side, if it gets too hot where you live. I say go at least 10% higher on the intake side, then the total cfms of the miners you plan to install. I use 500 cfm per each large asic miner (ie. S19 Pro). From my phone I have access to a bluetooth device that measures temp and humidity of the intake side and exhaust side with built in alarms for temp and humidity. Your room design sounds good to create a negative pressure environment.
    Good Luck!
