    Being a little nitpicky, but just wanted to make sure people have the right information.
    L6-30R is the Receptacle that's generally installed in the wall like a normal outlet.
    L6-30P is the plug on the end of the cord/cable that you plug into the receptacle on the wall.

    I bought a dryer plug to L6-30P adapter. It was about a hundred bucks from home depot, is there any serious disadvantage from using this vs a dedicated l6 receptacle. Wiring is run new and up to code as just switched from gas to electric dryer. is the adapter fine? i was planning to only run 60% of my 24A Dell Pdu. its a 30A breaker

  • @Gruengtep
    @Gruengtep 3 года назад

    OK, Vosk basically what they do in the U.S. is to wire both the black and the white cables, directly into the breaker. Each wire then carrys 110V. 110V x 2 = 220V. If your using a 30 amp breaker you get 6,600 Watts available at the wall (30 x 220 = 6,600). If using a 20 amp breaker you get 4,400 Watts (20 x 220 = 4,400.). If you stay within recommended usage of 80% you get 5,280 Watts and 3,520 Watts respectively. So for a lot of the big miners you can only run one of them on a single 220V circuit. If you have a ton of Mini-DOGEs however, you can run about 17 of them on one 220V 30 amp circuit (conservatively.).

    You mentioned ambient air is good enough. In vegas it get up to 120 outside. The garage normally sits around 90-95 without a miner. Would that be an issue? I currently only have one older miner (bitmain s9) running inside a spare room in the house, but would definitely rather have in the garage if it can take the heat. I have a second one that I need to wait to use since I only have a 20 amp breaker currently. Using this one to learn. Awesome video!! right on point! were was info at the beginning of the year?! haha school of hard knocks :/ lol
    Not sure if it's been said yet or not but PSU problems could be hiding behind ignoring the 80% rule or less than the assumed amount of power hitting the outlet... if you buy a smart plug off amazon that reports both voltage and amps, you can see the voltage at he plug even with nothing plugged into. if you look at it long enough you'll notice that voltage will swing -probably a couple 10mv = 0.01V -, if your power company (in the US) sucks enough you could see it swing from 110v to 120v (also giant swings like this depending on a bunch of other variables -like t-stom that might have just rolled through took out power which had taken out some of your power companies equipment, they might have done a quick fix to get power flowing again but it's not quite at 120v instead your getting 110V-) so if your having power issues with your miner it might not be your PSU that's the problem it might be that your not getting the right amount of voltage to your panel/outlet which in turn is not allow all your planned/assumed amount of power (power -watts- = voltage x amps) to make it through. So if your ignoring the 80% rule and having power problems and the signs are leading to a PSU, it might be that your PSU is seeing less than the amount of required power and is shutting down (this is a safety feature not a bug..). However, if your not ignoring the 80% rule you are much less likely to have this type of problem along with less of a heat concern as descripted in the video.

So since it draws 14 amps if i want to get 2 asic that would be 28 amps way passing the 80% rule or it doesnt count since both are pull 14 amps not near the 30?

    How much would an electrician charge roughly for this? Is it under 10k? Or is it simple and like under 1k? Still learning. I know prices vary state to state and other factors just looking for very rough pricing. Just would hate to spend 35k on a rig and then need to spend another 10k just to plug it in.

    You do NOT need an expensive PDU!
    A PROPER-wattage extension or surge suppressor is all that you need.
    If you are serious, you do need a 200 amp, 220 volt service and every machine on 220 V.
