This was one of my favorite soaps. I miss it. GH was next, but it's terrible today.

Some of EON's best years were when April and Draper at the forefront. It was a huge loss in 1981 when they left Monticello, along with Deborah and Logan.

It got bad when 'Edge" played up Raven & Sky as a super-couple.
      They were boring.

The "Preacher" character killed this show, when he came on the scene in 1983. The writers wanted to make him the "Luke Spencer" of EON. It failed big time and the show went downhill from there.

@@MrJuly1990ish Lori Loughlin leaving the show at the end of 1983 is what put it on life support

@@rockyracoon3233 I watched the show because I liked Lori laughlins and Sharon Gabets characters.. I hate to see what's happening to lori Laughlin these days with the college scandle. I hope she doesn't go to prison. The odds are against her though I'm afraid.

@@rudymora3336 Well Lori wanted the best for her daughters and got into something that she should have not done. She ruined both her's, and her daughter's careers.

as each year of the early 80s unfolded, EON began sinking...Here in '79 was the last of the better days

Based on reading story summaries, things seemed stable/consistent story wise till mid 1981 before it starts to decline

Actually, I loved the show in the 80s.

@citydweller99 I would say decline started around March 1982

Sweet episode but Deborah, don't eat that cake! I wonder if a certain bird in London has burning ears....

When they " killed off" Nicole Cavanagh, that did it for me. Lee Sheldon should have stayed in primetime ( Charlies Angels). He was no Henry Slesar! Changing WMON to WEON was just plain stupid. And just when did Monticello suddenly have a beach? It felt like Los Angeles, too west coast!

Interesting how amirican actors fro early days affected the studio manufauctered south atlantic accent....lois kibbee....kim hunter ...affected the same speech patterns that was taught ti hepburn..davis...crawford...taylor...garland...totally not a legit accent..but created by hollywood...gone now..
