  • Last adjustments on the car in this video, gauges, boost controller, FPR, and some brand new injectors.
    We finally managed to bring this bad boy on the streets for some run tests.
    We stumbled upon multiple problems, which some of them we solved and others are still to solve.
    Did everything we could to push this car to its limits, and tried to not touch the ECU for now. Who know what's gonna happen next, if we will manage to finish this car completely or if we will require some other adaptions.

    I love your channel the fact that you go into detail modifying a 318i instead of the 325i or 335i or 328i that everyone is doing you went for something more harder to achieve as the 318i is naturally aspirated without turbos thank you I have a bmw e90 2008 318i which I am going to buy a 325i engine of the same year replace the trans to automatic so I can get quicker shifts so I can add puddles and then later on buy a turbo kit and install thank you so much for the help inspiration

      yo thx man , really appreciate it :). I was thinking of doing the same actually but then, it hit me. Like what was I gonna do with the old engine? Usually the price to sell them is not worth it so I tought : you know what, lets do something crazy, and so this project started ahahaha , couple months later we are on the street with a 318i turbo. Thats so awesome. Good luck with your project man ;)

    do a boost leak test. MAF-based systems will not run good having any minimal leaks. Stock rubber gum from MAF to throttle body overall will not run long, they are too soft for boost. You have to change it for some silikon one. Your idle valve delete method :) with screws is for sure not holding the pressure without a small leaks too. Overal running 14.5 with boost like 0,5 and more is not safe for the motor still. You can still run knock detonations, put more static pressure on the FPR, then ajdust MAF for better idle. But overall - I'm really impressed that this is building boost... ;) Good final already

      Also the thing is we tried to disconnect the battery for a while, and after that the car starts running normally, so that's why we think it might be the ECU. we are trying to find a way to read the ECU errors, looking for the right software which is not that easy to find. especially one that runs properly.

      ​@@jonathancostantini7189sure man ,we are also trying to read the ECU but its almost damn impossibile, rn we are trying to do chip tuning with an EEPROM but the best option if you have 200 bucks is to buy a piggyback ECU like DET3 EcuMaster

    those 440cc injectors work good at taking the load off the fuel pump... because the fuel can cavitate and boil in the pump on hot days, trying to hold that higher pressure behind the smaller injectors. "setting up a boost reference system using a fuel pressure regulator, has some numbers to check in keeping the fuel flow rate square with the cylinder volume" 440cc/42lbhr injector is fairly square in flow per pound of air flow over a 600cc cylinder... but the biggest thing is the line pressure being very low to run them at an idle allows fuel to push thru the pump cooling it off... hot cavitating fuel pump makes tuning a mess. running 90psi into 200cc injectors / 20psi into 440cc injectors, less injector pump strain... most OEM ford fuel pumps can not actually push fuel past 15psi, they need the engine and air filter to pull fuel out of the injectors. gas and broken shafts... 1 - 440cc/43psi 80hp... might have a base rail pressure of 15 to 17psi "static pressure with the engine turned off" for a 3200cc I6, but with a 1:1 boost reference fuel pressure regulator that would likly over fuel the 500cc cylinders as the turbo comes on "if the fuel pump can even push anything", 350cc injectors might work better on the 3200 i6. 300hp is normal for a truck engine

    go back to stock injectors and run a vortech fmu that will fix your lean issues, it is running very lean under boost.

    Thank you so much for doing this! I have 318i vert and plan to boost my M43B18 also despite friends saying i'm crazy and should go 6 pot. This is great inspiration and reference also for my own build.

    Just bought myself an compact with an m43 for a fun little turbo project, this series will definetly help, first i have to fix my suspension since it has play in a bit of everything

    Glad to see someone else is also boosting a e36 4 banger. Boosign the M42 in e36 is so much harder than in an e30 due to space constraints, but driving it boosted is so much more fun than NA.

    purtroppo quei debimetri sono super delicati, pur regolandoli bene hanno sempre avuto difetti e con la miscela troppo grassa basterebbe un minimo di backfire e si rompe ed è da buttare. Io per non avere problemi ho preso una ecu (replica della Maxxecu) e riprogrammandola con una sonda lsu 4.9 posso vedere i valori e regolare tutto tramite centralina con Tunerstudio. Cosi puoi tranquillamente eliminare valvole e sensori del minimo e risolveresti tutti i tuoi problemi.

      che ECU hai preso? noi stavamo cercando di fare chiptuning ma si sta rivelando piu difficile del previsto... e stiamo quindi pensando ad una DET3
