It is hard to listen to this song without shedding some tears. I was 13 when this song hit our shores and have loved it ever since. I know the Japanese must feel this is part of their heritage
10/24/24 "Ue o Muite Arukō" - ("I Look Up As I Walk" (in the rain so my tears of heartbreak & pain don't mix with the rain 💔) .... 上を向いて歩こう ... I first heard this song on #KRLA in 1962 when I just a little girl of 8. I fell in love with it & taught myself to sing along phonetically. I didnt understand the words but music transcends individual language speaks to ALL. Even with the deceptive lilting melody & me being only 8, I could telll this song came from a place of deep pain & sorrow. 😢 In 2024 - now 66 yrs (!!😲!!) later - I still love this song as much as I did in 1962. 🤗 Arigato to the composer (can't remember his name!) & Mr Kyu Sakamoto for giving the world such a beautiful & timeless song. 🎼 🎶 🎵
I grew up with the Taste of Honey's version/rendition, and it always made me cry like buckets. I also like Kyu Sakamoto's version, although a little faster.
This song Sukiyaki is still touching so many lives in so many countries since it was released in 1963.
I needed this so much, today. You lifted me right off this goofy planet with your wonderful rendition of one of my all-time favorite melodies.

Great version of a great song. To all the singers and musicians in this video: Domo arigato Gozaimasu (I hope I spelled that right). 😉
Una bella melodía japonesa en cautivar plenamente. Simplemente genial en la extensión de la palabra.

Mayumiさんは熱心で歌うからもっと聞いてみたい。
PFC is not confined to one race.
It sounds the same ,try Taste of honey's version, need my soul, not black, just inside soul,
