LED ZEPPELIN - FULL SHOW PLAY ALONG - OSAKA 9/29/71 - 50th ANN.

- 50 years ago today, Led Zeppelin played one of their most legendary concerts, to close their short 1971 tour of Japan. The concert took place at the Festival Hall, in Osaka on Sept 29 1971.
This video is a complete, unedited play along in honor of the 50th anniversary of the show. I edited out the solo guitar in Heartbreaker, most of the acoustic numbers, Jimmy's bow solo, and the first few minutes of Stairway (to avoid copyright issues)...but there are no video breaks.
This was by far the most challenging video I've made, mainly because playing a 2 hour 45 min concert requires a lot of stamina, especially since I rarely play more than 90 mins at a time and never at this intensity level! I had to tape up a couple blisters while making the video!
There are many special moments in this show, but most notable is Bonzo's apparent stomach issues which caused him to leave the stage during the middle of the show, prompting some very funny banter from Plant. The band were clearly a bit annoyed that he fled to the loo, and when he came back, Plant let him have it. " Where is the old dame??!" 😂
Before that moment, it's apparent Bonzo wasn't feeling well...he exclaims "I'm falling apart!" after Black Dog. Then after Dazed, you can hear him say "I puked on that" ...Plant says, "you didn't puke !!??"...Bonzo..."I did!". Another Bonzo quote after Dazed ..."more comedy, less work!"
I highly recommend you listen to all the banter between songs, if you're not familiar with this show. It's amazing to me that after about 2 hours, and having stomach problems, Bonzo plays a ferocious Moby Dick, and seems re-energized for the last part of the show, playing with renewed power and fire...Incredible!
I tried to play as close to what he played on some of the songs that have more space and fills, like Since I've Been, Dazed, but for the most part I was just free wheeling, so there are glitches and some parts where I lose the thread, because the fidelity of some of the audience sources is very poor and hard to hear at times. Also, in typical live Zep fashion, they really went off on some tangents, with lots of adventurous improvisations ...especially on Dazed, WLL, and Comm Br. They really get into some unique jams, they even play a bit of Twist and Shout n!
The soundboard parts are wonderfully clear and is a treasure to have as a document of Zep in their prime. I hope you all enjoy this incredibly unique, powerful and wacky concert.
Cheers,
George

What a gift you are, George, to the whole drumming community! Unbelievable!
Thank you very much!
Ur så cool, fantastic, i love to se and hear you, its Bonham for me...the right way
( Well, my friend, a real CRAZY SHIP IN THE PERFECT STORM....you handled the initial inferno like a hero.....in Led Zeppelin's LIVE shows, you can truly appreciate the genius BONHAM....let's not forget that Led ZEPPELIN played the SHOW for 3 hours...sometimes even over three hours. Today, band concerts, when they reach an hour and a half, is already a long time.
Congratulations George, you have all my respect.
I love the sound of those hi-hats. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Brilliant! The tone, the feel.. Perfect Bonham!
I am amazed how you can remember every little detail! You must have a photographic memory. I am so terrible at copying parts. Brilliant!
Thanks so much but as I said in the description, I was free-wheeling a lot of the time and not memorizing the entire show, that would be virtually impossible!
CAN'T WAIT!
George! u my lad are a beautiful Beast!
🙏🏼😂
Just watching this, again!!! Geo, you are a monster of a player!!!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
This is great George, a fantastic tribute! I thought when you walked away from the kit around the 35:28 mark, you were going to imitate Bonzo missing from the show for awhile, and they would be calling out "Oh Mr. Fludas, where is Mr. Fludas!" 😂 Understandably you needed to take care of a blister. Well earned! Thanks! ✌♥🥁
sending you a love and support friend
Thanks!

Right on target, Sir.
One of my favorite concert of the early era - performed on my second birthday. This version of Thank You is my favorite.
Holy Sh*t that was incredible. Moby Dick was awesome! Awesome George 👍👍

Mais que prova que o Led Zeppelin estava muito tempo a frente!!!! ainda soa como musica atual!!!
WOW...fabulous George. Amazing as usual.
thanks, it was fun!
As a drummer and someone who suffers with stomach problems I'm glad Bonzo left to go the loo. This was a amazing by the way!
Only you (and one other guy) could pull this off, just mind blowing! 👏👏
Thanks Andy!
@Paul Michael He’s on the tape 😉
Unbelievable! You're the best George, what a great performance! Thank you!
Full show! cant wait for this.
Awesome 👍🤟
Amazing! I’m speechless right now! 🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥💯
Insane!!!!
Very well done! Actually WOW!
Nice work! Was worried you were going to break the cymbal mount off in Heartbreaker! :O
I opened the video and.... and I was amazed! an incredibly powerful, incredibly romantic sound!
Thank you 🥁❤️☮️
thank you
Again....another awesome performance, George. Nothing but the best from you every time. Thanks George.
Thank you
Sounds so good, amazing how you capture that Bonham sound!
This was truly impressive. What a great tribute to such an all-time classic show.
You're a drumming beast! Great playing!
You should play some Alex Van Halen, Ronnie Tutt(Elvis) or even “Salty Dog), the drummers were always playing Ludwig and they were great. 1970 - Elvis - “Suspicious Minds”. I grew up on Ronnie and DJ Fontana.
What a inspirational performance......truly amazing!!!
George, this is insane!!!!! A truly Master Piece!!!! 👌🍮🙏
George isto é de loucos!!! Uma verdadeira obra prima!!!
(JR-PORTUGAL)
Nothing like a little Led to get the heart pumping. Flawless and that's all i have to say.
You are the best, dude!
John Bonham was a dynamic
drummer who played with
intensity.
Awesome man!
Thanks for doing this George !
Good man, you're bringing back to life the genius of Mr. Bonham... Such a blast to witness! Well done mate 👏.
What a gift this video is for drummers, very good job king. But a little detail that saddened me a bit was the sudden changes of tempo in the backbeat Bonzo did in the solo of Celebration day were very off in this video, but you can't have it all in a damn 2 hours and a half concert which you had to memorize all by yourself, cheers.
Your dedication to recreating the master at work is to your credit sir. Amazing piece of work and as fine a copy of the man himself as I’m likely to see.
That was amazing George!
Well done mate
I love watching and listening. George does alright, slightly above average 😂. Keep it up!
This is so incredible, I've been listening to the Osaka concert the past couple of days at work and I was saying to myself I wonder if George will ever make a video of this concert ....and here it is 🙂 I can't wait to listen to this in full tomorrow while I'm working (driving). Thanks for making these videos George. It gives all of us a first-hand account and visual of how Bonzo played and all of the technical things that he did. 👍
Thanks, that's great! 👍🏻😄
unbelievable woaw 😍😍👌👌
Yes, George is back! Awesome, George, can't wait for this one, great choice on the show. "Mr. Bonham? Oh, where is Mr. Bonham?" Loved how Robert got the whole crowd into saying it. Not sure how accurate it is, but I've read they all had a tough time with the food there on that tour, clearly it affected Bonzo that night. Amazing he was able to finish the show with possible food poisoning. The show must go on! Also, thank you for all your great videos and doing another full show. I still haven't gotten through the first one you did! 😀✌♥🥁
Thank you Dave!
Killer sounds man, extremely impressive, both in memorization and performance! Love how you capture all the tiny nuances and tempo fluctuations and stuff. Keep up the great work man, lots of respect
Yes! Love the Japanese shows. Only a few songs in and it’s sounding fantastic!
George I want to thank you for teaching me those things that I couldn't learn from old Bonham videos, because now I learn them from you. Good video I still don't know how you learn all those fills that John did live, congratulations for your talent and content from Argentina!
Thank you!
Thank you so much George 😁👍
This Awesome...
Outstanding once again mate...👏 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing.
Qué dedicación mi estimado, con este video se puede ver mucho de la técnica de Mr Bonham, y con ello aprender sus arreglos, felicidades por tu trabajo en estos videos!
Saludos desde México
Muchisimas gracias!
Awesome, love being able to see it played, really ties things together when trying to learn
Good lord how long did it take you to learn all that, beautiful good job tip my hat to you
Thanks for making it a great show George. You always manage to entertain and amaze us while keeping loyal to the original spirit of LZ. Great sounding mix too.
thanks so much!!
I was worn out after the first song, and I'm only watching !! Well done George, very brave for taking this on - and your not as young as what Bonzo was at the time (with respect)
Amazing display George 👍
Amazing George! Only you could pull off this feat! Great playing!
Thanks brother Earl!

Thanks, Tony!

Thank you, Dan.... appreciate you bro!
Holy crap! Big George is keeping it real!!
Looking forward to this. I know this is a bonham channel and its its taboo to ask; i would love to see you lay down some steve gadd or gary maliber licks. I think that would be super cool.
Gotta hit harder. Jk, great work.
Full Physical graffiti in a row will be Amazing!!!
does anyone know what tune jimmy was playing at 8:05?
Feelin' Groovy (59th Street Bridge Song) by Simon and Garfunkel
I know where the wing nut is
🧐😏
Wow George is all that can be said.
(I have too much heartfelt praise to encapsulate here.)
Sometimes I wonder what Bonham would say (if he were still alive) while watching you play this?
2nd Question: Do you like your earpieces? If so, what make and model are they?
Of interest: We both play Legacy Bonham kits. Mine is the “Thermogloss” iteration. Aren’t they just great?
Thanks for your dedication.
- Jimmy Lane
Thanks jimmy! Yeah, I've often wondered the same. How he would feel about all of the thousands of drummers who have been influenced and tried to emulate him. I do love the Legacy kit, that's great that you have the thermogloss version!
testing testing.....LOUDER LOUDER!!!!!!!!!! bonzooo!!!
😂
So happy to see your lip sync and moves on Black Dog lyrics!😁💪
You're the king George! Unbelievable.
"John Bonham- John Bonham- John Bonham- George!
you're positively crazy 😂
