I aspire to have the confidence to drive a €2 million car off the track and still going at it, it's nice to see the cars being used. Imagine these noises (music) will soon be a thing of the past, only experienced through footage like this.
I see a lot of people hating on the skills of the drivers. Most of these drivers probably don't know the track by heart and that corner is way sharper than it first looks which makes for a pretty good fail compilation.
BTW boys,as a Racer of 45 Years and including Group C cars,try the old "Slow IN,Fast Out" technique.You'll get around a lot more corners,particularly that one just after the Fuchsrohre,as it is deceptively tight, left then right.
Why do some of them have such a hurry to go hard over the rough curb to turn/go back on track.. specially with an old car. Just chill and go on the grass until you can rejoin the track smoothly..?
That's a first generation Fiat Croma (1985-1996) - though it shares the platform with the Saab 9000 (and Lancia Thema and Alfa 164), it is a completely separate car, not least due to the fact that it's far lighter (~250 kg lighter than the 9000), due to having almost none of the safety measures (or quality materials) of the Saab :)

I'm sure there were a few blue TVRs at the track that weekend, so it may have been more than one car, I'm not going to study the cars to prove or disprove though... But, if you keep spinning at the same corner you are trying to hard, or aren't learning... It's not a race.
At 4.50 !!!! The fiat/ lancia ...er x19 / Lancia beta monte carlo , can indeed have the sound of screeching tyres whilst on a concrete matrix bed with grass ...er well done the sound editor ..
Unless I require a whoosh, that is generally what happens with mid engine cars, TVR's all had a wobble or spin and they are midengined as well, and before anyone argues, the engine is behind the front wheels, it is mid engined. RWD cars oversteer

@@gordocarbo I had the opportunity to drive one for a couple of hours, it handles and brakes pretty good, way better than the majority of the cars of the time, the down side is that it doesn't like traffic at all, that's basically a race car on the streets.
I think in most of the cases we see here, the cars perform better than the drivers. It doesn't take much for these amateurs to get in over their heads.

It's an event for amateur drivers. Many don't have the skills of a professional race driver. And I don't think that's necessary. They are there to enjoy themselves. As long as they do so safely, it's ok.

Notice it was a toss up between the most evil handling cars,the TVR's of all types and the FIAT X19? I Raced a TVR Griffith 1965,with a 289 Ford V8,and only recall I spun it once at Phillip Island,BUT it won 47 Races out of 54. However TBH nothing could prepare a Driver with the EVIL TVR Griffith 500. It has the worst oversteer of any car,including any series 911.
Because they can afford it. I am grateful for these enthusiasts who own, maintain and drive these cars so that many others can watch, hear and enjoy it! Sure, one or two could have acted a bit more sensibly, but overall it's great that people do this.
The guy in the TVR seemed fairly determined to destroy his car that day.

TVR's should have headlights on the front AND the back. With headlights only in the front, they can't see where they're going half the time.
I like the Saab and Subaru cruising with aplomb. My son races karts, every lap is a learning experience.

The TVRs and the X1/9s didn't look very stable. The MGBs surprisingly so. But I really liked that Fiat 600 Abarth.

Those TVR's are twitchy. The X1/9's are mid-engined so when you go to far the will come around.

Yep, I definitely noticed that only TVR could make their front-engine cars do snap oversteer like the mid-engine X1/9s and the Lotus Elise.
