- Would you go back to this cafe in London if you were served this way. I have to say the food was amazing, both myself and my son Luke could not fault the food at all - however, the service and attitude of the young staff was questionable. As usual, I didn't have a full English breakfast, I like to make my own. Terrys café near Borough is one of Londons well known places for a proper fry up. But the all important question is, would you go back?
Ended the video / vlog with a nice walk around the iconic Borough Market.

Hi Darren and Luke, £37.00 for a breakfast and a sausage sandwich no way would I pay that in a cafe , I would pay that at the Savoy or Claridges and get excellent service from the waiter

Like many others, the 37 quid price seems ridiculous. Luke’s sausage sandwich is two slices of packet bread 50p and four sausages (let’s say £3). That means DJ’s meal was £32😢🥵. They can do fried bread but not toast. Right my son...I am walking. Great vlog👍
Don't forget butchers quality sausages, rates energy crisis tax, having to pay waitress extra in wages because she doesn't get tips.
@@andywrong3247 Friend, I co-owned a takeaway restaurant in an expensive part of Paris. I know mark ups. This is still expensive. She does not get tips if she is antipathetic. We generated 3€ million and divided the upside within the team at the end of the year. We were all very nice to clients. Take care😘
I thought I had mis-heard when you said the price and I had to replay it. OMG that is extortion even for London. Okay the food was good quality but not at that price plus the fiasco with the tea - I would definitely not be returning. x
Poor service is a deal breaker. Once went to a restaurant that had just opened. Took us well over an hour to get food after we'd ordered and there was only one other table (who were still waiting for their food when we left).
We never went back and weren't surprised that the restaurant went under.
I always have the opinion that good food can be elevated with great service... But poor service can never be elevated by good food.
We both loved your latest video Luke’s sausage sandwich looked amazing we felt your disappointment over the tea fiasco for me over past few years I feel standards of customer service leave a lot to be desired in many parts of the world 👍

Darren, your honesty is appreciated by the vast majority of viewers. I always say "Hate me for what i am, don't love me for what i'm not". However as much as the food was good i wouldn't think of going there with such an appauling service as it wil spoil one's enjoying the meal. As for the price? No matter how good the food was that bill is far too much for a fry up and a sausage sandwich. Keep ypur good work up mate ;)
I've worked in catering for many years. Short staffed or busy, no excuse for dropping standards. You just pick up the pace and carry on. The tea situation? Apology and a reduction on the bill brings people back. Food did look good though 😄❤
there's probably countless times you've forgot something at your catering job and the person just hasn't made a fuss and told you about it. people aren't robots and sh*t happens.

If staff have a bad attitude it’s usually because they’re being treated poorly. Given crappy shifts , overworked and the place is a shit show. Terry is probably a bit of a twat

Soon as service falls down, an establishment isn't worthy of my custom. That's my mantra. When you are served food, it's good manners to ask if everything is ok, at that point they can deal with there not being any sugar in the tea. I know it's a big deal for you Darren, so yeah she let the side down with the attitude and having the cheek to charge.
Looked a great breakfast Darren shame about the sloppy service.
Luke's Sausage sandwich looked Off the Charts.
It's amazing how many places lack good service but do great food.
£37.00 for 1 breakfast and a sausage sandwich is daylight robbery.

Hi Darren, I’m really sorry about your experience especially considering I recommended the place to you a few weeks ago. I know the food there is awesome, probably the best bubble I’ve had anywhere but I absolutely agree with some of the other comments, service is as important as the food to get repeat customers and makes all the difference. I’m glad you enjoyed the food at least, utter shame about the experience! Thanks for the honest review in any case, your subscribers really appreciate it.
Never had an issue with the service at Terry's Cafe, was there a couple of weeks ago and it was perfect. Sorry you had to experience that, as usually their service is spot on.

37.00 quid bit pricey bad service about tea.
That breakfast looked great DJ. Such a shame about the customer service. It seemed very expensive and I wouldn’t have charged you for the tea. Thanks you both for the video buddy and always love you showing your trips around London after you reviews. Music is always great too.

I was there last week and had the exact same experience. Great food and friendly staff but they lacked a bit of people skills. My table was dirty when I sat down and when I asked the young lady to wipe it down she looked at me like I had two heads 😂

Excellent food. But for that price and the so called service, I would have to not go back again... Great Vlog though Darren, what with all that noise and limited table space, you handled yourself like a true professional. Which is why it's always a pleasure watching you. The service alone made you come away with a bad taste in your mouth. The rip off price tag, they weren't reducing price @no cost like it or lump it. How many lumps of sugar in your tea DJ.
Food looked great but not sure a breakfast and sandwich should ever cost that much. Your patience and honesty is a delight to see. You can't visit that many places without the occasional bump in the road and it just happened to be you on this occasion. Tea should defo have been taken off. How hard can it be to bring sugar, especially when you have asked. I would forgive the service for 1 more chance but I am not sure the price justifies it.
Looked nice both the fry up and the sausage sandwich with fried onions lovely, but need proper HP ketchup with them is for wimps! 😆.
No I wouldn’t go back Darren shame I know but service is key as you are the customer, too many companies in this country especially the big tech suppliers don’t bother with customer service it’s all about revenue so withdraw your revenue they will catch on eventually, great vlog as usual

Found myself that side of town a few weeks before Christmas, and whilst my usual go to - Pellici's - was a bit away from where I was staying, a chap I met the last time in Pellici's who I'm now 'Facebook friends' with recommended Terry's as it was just around the corner from where I was. I ruddy loved it! Had exemplary service, the food was top rank, and the vibe of the place was great.
Don't know if you're familiar with Café 338 a couple of doors down from Pellici's on Bethnal Green road, but was there this past weekend. I was in town, staying at Tower Hill, and was headed for - you guessed it, Pellici's - but the queue was mental. Saw 338, no queue/no brainer. Once more, exceptional stuff and well worth a visit.
yes, you have to be honest. It's what I like about it. I would go back again a month later and if the service is still poor - then it doesn't matter if the food is off the charts, it will still mean having an unpleasant experience. And food quality and service go hand in hand

37 quid is way above anything I would consider paying for beakfast. I know you appreciate good food and thus pay for it, but that is a horrendous price to pay. The tea was a let down too, but you said you would go back, even though the bacon is smoked, my favourite. I would not go anywhere near it though. All the best M8 and thanks :)

It’s always nice to be honest and it’s much appreciated here DJ. Cracking looking breakfast just spoilt by the young staff’s service what a shame. It should never be too much trouble to keep your customers happy and a simple smile and oblige that there was no sugar. The customer is always right but just let down here. Luke’s sausage sandwich looked amazing.

The owners name is Austin Yardley, it isn't Terry, that was his late fathers name, who was the cafes founder, hence the name.
Bang on Darren, not difficult to be nice and probably enjoy the job more if they were. Love the walkabouts after and the soundtrack is fantastic.

😮😮😮😮NO I probably would not go back to this establishment because of the sugar. “really 10 mins.” The tea is now cold yikes. Good customer service is what I would strive for. Hard to believe that they are still in business. Thanks for sharing Darren.😊

Such a shame that the service let down the food and even more so that Terry himself did not seem to care, no matter how successful a business is once you take it for granted that people will return it is not a good sign, look at the welcome you get everytime at Pellici's, Quality Food and First Class Service.

Ok as you said the food did look good but that aside wow, they definitely need a crash course on customer service. For me I take everything into consideration like the quality of food, value for money, customer service, cleanliness etc. I think based on customer service and value for money I don't think I'd be rushing back anytime soon no matter how nice the food was. Terry himself should have sorted the issue right away once you told him so I don't know why he didn't do that. As for the cost that definitely sounded steep like they've added extra items or a tip/surcharge on it or something. Such a shame you got sub par service. It doesn't cost anything to be nice to people. At least the food itself was good so not a total loss. Still a brilliant vlog with great filming and music and super sweet to see you and Luke together again and loved the snippets of Borough Market at the end. I would have drowned my sorrows with a Ginger Pig Sausage Roll or that amazing chocolate brownie you got once 😂😂😂 Hopefully you got some nice treats whilst there. Bless you for being open and honest though which I think is the best way to be. 😁👍🏼💙

I've been to Terry's a few times and although you can fault the quality of the food(the breakfast is one of the best in London in my view)the service can leave a lot to be desired...I Totally agree with you on the sugar Darren.It's seriously frustrating when you ask for sugar and they don't get some.
As for the breakfast I rate it a 9.5 out of 10(Lukes sausage sandwich gets a 10 out of 10)

Did you say £37 for brekkie and a sausage sarnie.....wow, now that is inflation, even £27 would still be steep. There's a really nice sarnie shop just across from there, always popular which is a good sign and reasonable prices, (unlike some other establishments!!) or they were when I was cabbing.
Years ago i use to buy a Remi Martell champagne brandy in a frosty green bottle never seen it since as i can easily drink half a bottle in the night Darren.

You want to relax when you go out to eat, the thought of more hassle and stress would not entice me back, however good the food, there are plenty of other places out there.

Hi Darren and Luke, this looks ok and wouldnt shy for another go for it, but you have shown us more of a beter qty of breakfast to go and see in the passed, but this isn't the worst you had I'd think. But tbf alot of cafe places have a good day and bad days so you need to try again go giv them the benifit of the doubt. esp when the staff are nice and friendly... my opinion tho

After the crap breakfast i had yesterday morning here in Wolverhampton id have eaten shit on toast to be fair Darren. Nothing worse than when you are looking forward to something and the Bacon is black, Fried Bread was soft and dripping in oil, Sausages were the cheapest thinnest things going and the Black Pudding wasn't cooked. This looked a really good one to be fair, ok the service questionable, but it may have just been an off day. Good food speaks volumes.
