  • The Fronius Watt Pilot is an electric vehicle charger that lets you use excess solar production to charge your vehicle.
Rather then exporting energy back to the grid and being paid very little, the Fronius Watt Pilot lets you send this energy to your car.
The Fronius Watt Pilot comes in an 11kW and 22kW charger as well as the portable version.
For more information about the Fronius Watt Pilot and how it works with solar and batteries, watch the video.

How does watt pilot use surplus if you have a catchpower relay for electric hotwater?

From what I understand V2H/V2G is a DC-based system, thus using the CCS2 or CHAdeMO connector and requires a bunch of certifications for the house-side equipment that is not present in Australia. I've seen the equipment in use at a few testing sites around the place and it's in the range of about $10,000 - for that price you could get a hybrid inverter and a traditional 12KwH battery.
