Rod Serling was a genius. People usually think of the Twilight Zone as a scary or creepy show and it was at times but many of these episodes were beautiful. They spoke to very human feelings or longings that people have. And this episode was a prime example of that. We are all going to get old but people who live the longest are usually people who stay engaged in life with one thing or another or stay curious about things like kids do.
Exactly! I was told this show was spooky, but I'm already watching the third season and I had fun, I cried and learned very important leasons of life, especially from this episode that breaks my heart.
Lol that is a silly opinion, nothing close to a universal truth and that is the point of the episode is to never let your nihilism over take your youthful spirit that can always remain.
The newer version at the end is great cause of the emotion and the way he realized he passed up his only chance. The music added a lot to it. But this one, the fact that it looks like the kids have no idea who he is and leave him there can get to you. "Look all you want Mr. Cox. You won't find them."
This reminds me of Peter Pan, except the lost boys didn't want to be lost anymore. I liked the movie version better because of how they appreciated themselves better.
One day they will figure out how to prevent aging by preventing the clock within your chromosomes from stop counting down which happens each time your cells divide and your telomeres shorten.
To everyone here watching this episode this isn't science fiction. We will be able to do these things in Heaven. You can be any age there. No Regrets But firstly, are you going to Heaven? Believe In The Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Acts 16:31 There are no prisons in Heaven not even old age!
This really gets to me because as we grow older we wish we could go back to our childhood days. We miss the little things that made us happy.
I taught my grandkids how to play kick the can. Imagine, a free game that doesnt involve a computer, ipad, etc!
So heartbreaking
Benny waited for the next bunch of elders, saved the can!
My favorite episode

we work so hard for our wealth now.. sacrificing our youth for a retirement of slow death.... that is the eternal truth.
60 is a scary age indeed
Old age sucks folks. Nothing to romanticize about it. Stay young at heart and do your best to survive the physical prison that is old age.

If you listen closely, you can hear this is sampled in The Lost Children from Michael Jackson ❤️
Anyone spotted the counting? Michael Jackson borrowed it in his "The Lost Children" Song. So cool...
Benny thought this whole thing was a parlor trick but it turned out to be real
I’m trying this next weekend in my childhood neighborhood as I will be passing by my old house!
No.. sadly! Maybe you turn into a new kid that isn’t in the system…
Mukluk n Ollie, I love you.
Always wondered where they went after they ran into the forest
".....in the twilight zone!"
Grew up twilight zone kick the can like kick ball grew up in school
Great movie, one for the ages 😇
Ben didn’t deserve that ending. I hate sad endings 😖😢😭
If a show this good was television now the studios would all explode!

Mr Cox, in the godfather. One of the best ending
Derek Gabrys, excellent comment, and so accurate. Thank you.

I’m a furry and I’m trying to get closer to Jesus Christ and God. Will I be able to become a furry in heaven?

COLEY FOLEY SAYS: A FUCKIN "MARATHON" OF "THE TWILIGHT ZONE"...! HAHAHA! ON THE "SCI-FI" CHANNEL AGAIN RIGHT NOW.
Now everyone has to see Ben Marley (the son of this actor here) in THE COLD READER. Phenomenal.
What's with Mr Cox? He lives in the old age home with the old people? Has he ever had a girlfriend? What kind of a life or future does he have?
Some people made their homes into an assisted living care facility or nursing home.
