+SpotterJacob That's called TBI, or Throttle Body Injection - injector is upstream of the throttle body. Or to some, "pissed off snake", because it has a hiss sound on regular, plano, everyday motors. Mainly one injector for all cylinders. It started in the 80s in America. Costs were the major driving factor behind its implementation. Then it switched over Multi-Port Injection, where there is 1 injector per cylinder, with the injector down stream of the throttle body. Now a higher pressure version is out called Direct Injection - fuel directly injection into the combustion chamber. Costs, fuel economy, emissions, government regulations, and customer overall satisfaction drove all these changes. (Sorry for the history lesson. I'm a gear head, and an electrical engineer.)
At least 3 different exhaust configuration of this car. The well known 4 exhaust (2-2 each side) with pointed upwards tips. The twin pipes on the right side and the 1 pioe on bith sides. Maybe even more exists. :). Anyway, this car was built by the devil with its own hands. Big favourite. Nice vid.
So this is direct throttle injection. Would it be better if the primary on these motors were secondary, and they turn on at higher rpm so you have more broader power band? Or that would be too rich and be a waste of fuel? I think it wouldn't because it rev all the way up to 10 or 11k.
Can somebody explain to me how this engine is built? I heared that the block is from prv v6. What is about the compression, bore, stroke, is it twin spark, 8v or 16v, DOHC? I am really interested in the technology wich is used in the cylinder head.
Ps; mir fehlt a bissal der Lancia Stratos.
Curious injection system. Like a cross between carbs and injectors. Looks like you'd get petrol spraying everywhere, looks like a fire hazard waiting to happen.
+AndreiTupolev Individual throttle bodies with stand off injectors, quite common in racing. Even if it was to ignite, which i doubt is a problem, the airflow into the engine would simply suck it back in!
+ap2pat but better injectors allow better atomization so direct injection can have much better atomization than a system like Tbi. Also the design of the manifolds and heads plays a large role in atomization in carbed, Tbi, and multiport injection
+Boni Hollóssy As far as I know it helps with fuel atomisation. At high revs there may not be enough time for the fuel droplets to atomise into small mist. There is more time if the injectors are farther away from the cylinders.
The Renault V10 F1 engine had the same setup. If they used it then there has to be a benefit over standard fuel injection. These are piezo injectors so maybe it's for higher pressures.
+Boni Hollóssy Motorcycles sometimes has a similar arrangement where the "showerhead" injectors high up in the intake run at very high rpms for better fuel atomisation, while injectors closer to the valves handle lower speed duties.
+Peter M Do you see fuel going anywhere but in the motor? These stand off injectors are quite common and give a better atomization of air/fuel mixture. It is more wasteful than a street car for sure but not so much because of the stand off injectors.
ap2pat I do of course, thats why I mentioned it. Fuel condenses on the horns than evaporates. Means some fuel gone waste. I shouldn't have point it out, since it's clearly visible on the video.
+Peter M I think its good to also realise that a race engine is at most times in full throttle with the butterfly's opened or partially opened and not like this near idle
Honestly think the 155 might be the best looking sedan ever. Especially compared to anything that came out of the 90's.
Mi vengono i brividi ogni volta che sento questa macchina...
My No1 car, love seeing this thankyou :) :)
+Spencer Spence You're welcome!
A symbol for Italian engine, Great video Bozzy, thanks for Sharing!
Awesome upload thanks for this one! One of the best sounding race engines around.
+jmcnAr Thank you for watching!
What a christmas gift! I love the klasse 1 DTM / ITC cars.
Jezz! Revs almost as a superbike!
just discovered the sound of this engine and I love it
i just love this car
Bozzy! Bet that sounds mental even with the carbon intake box on..
Thanks ..happy christmas man
Grazie!!
+Jeffo Jon J Thank you! Happy Christmas to you too!
queste sono il top...
That's the first tiem I see injectors mounted outside the intake manifolds

+johnnymitz I enjoyed your history lesson :)
+johnnymitz I enjoyed your history lesson :)
155, one of the greatest cars
Wow sounds almost liek a crotch rocket! I love a small pistoned engine!!! Love it so much more with ITB's and stand off injectors!!!! DOPE!
if that engine with modern injectors, ecu, etc wow such a beast
This engine is a masterpeace. Best Race Car ever made.
I want to see those running on the track just sound sooooooo good
High Stress Busso! 😻🇮🇹
Fabulous.
What a beautifull machine.

Devil? Nah this the Lord's work right here! 😂
This makes the hair stand on my neck. In a good way :-)
I LOVE THIS ENGINE IT MAKES ME AGAHAG
1 dislike? I don't understand...
He think that it was the download button
She's so pretty and sings so beautifully I think I have a crush on this car LOL
I am like the Alfa Romeo, special car racing.
LOVE that red one... =D
I saw this car in the flesh when I visited Frankfurt motor show 1995. I think it's Nicola larini on it
Alfa Romeo N°1 !!!!!
santa madona the best moments of touring cars
They are warming up the transmission as well
That's some sweet engine notes ! :)What does 'ITB' stands for in the Title and what does 'ITC' in the description stands for ??
+شاديل اشانالي ITC = International Turing Championship
ITB stands for Individual Throttle Bodies
individual trottle bodies
3:40 nice!!!
+Senna Love that part too ;)
It sounds almost like a motorcycle!
magnificent
I'll have one of those road legal please, just wanting to spice up the daily commute...
MADE IN ITALY!!!!
No in France, this engine is the PRV, sorry.

This is a very common setup with F1 engines and the like
+AndreiTupolev Theoretically the farther you can get the injector, the better atomization of air/fuel mixture you get. Or something like that.
+ap2pat but better injectors allow better atomization so direct injection can have much better atomization than a system like Tbi. Also the design of the manifolds and heads plays a large role in atomization in carbed, Tbi, and multiport injection
sjpro1 Oh yea Direct Injection is the obvious future no doubt.
Shower injectors
ALFA ROMEO
Porn to my ears, thanks bozzy
+Distortion1971 No problem!
That's it's only source of fuel?
Isn't 155 using the 3.0?or I'm wrong💆
This is a DTM version so it's a 2.5
this car is 4wd?

Can someone explain what is happening here? Is that literally the fuel being shot in?
+TastyChevelle Those are fuel injectors, if you watch carefully you can see how they pulse in time with the engine.
💛🧡
Who clicked the dislike button it’s a Mercede’s Sunday Fan.
2:56 it's spilling fuel all over. that's a fire hazard
Orgasmic sound!
y tambien suena parecido al venturi 600lm
drink drink driiiink ieeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!
Is this kind of injection common for race cars? Doesn't look very precise.
+Boni Hollóssy No. I don't think there is much benefit. Maybe cooling effect due to fuel injection before the cylinder?
Because Racecar No idea. What would it cool down? The air going in?
+Boni Hollóssy As far as I know it helps with fuel atomisation. At high revs there may not be enough time for the fuel droplets to atomise into small mist. There is more time if the injectors are farther away from the cylinders.

Surely that cant be fuel being injected? Seems very inefficient or even dangerous

Oh my...how much fuel was wasted on these engines!

Evaporates where? It just casually drifts off? The motor is making a constant vacuum....

Ok then. Have a nice christmas!
