Thanks Shawn and NatureEye! Thanks mods! Interesting as always. Almost looks like the southern most fissure is feeding east and the big one is feeding to the west.
Looks like a blue sky day in Iceland! Low winds and great Lighting for a drone flight. Thanks to NatureEye and for your time. Fascinating to see this eruption in "real" time.
Great job the workers do. Just had a look at Isaks live stream too. And while the lava is flowing in front of the berms, inside the berm they try to make it higher so that the lava can not get inside
That was one of the most amazing closeup I’ve been able to see live, thank you! I lived outside of Kilauea when it went off just miles away but I couldn’t see it so thanks for the live feed!
Thank you guys for the drone footage. Very awesome. Just a concern here, tho, as eruptions continue, the terrain builds higher along the rift zone which means lava flows will probably have more speed. That's going to put Blue Lagoon in more danger. They will have to continue building barriers higher, and higher. Hopefully these eruptions cease. As cool as they are, they're very disruptive.
16:34 Amazing Footage. Thank You so much, Shawn and Johan. I was born and raised in Rupert, Idaho. I am just learning about Idahos History and am enjoying your "road side" videos. So please, keep those coming. Great Job Guys.
Awesome Shawn and Johan, thanks! So amazing to be sitting in Australia and being able to view such amazing footage! Just mind bending volume of lava, unimaginable to me. Hoping not too much damage has been caused by this eruption. It's like the Earth is bleeding out!
Oh not good these news . In summer I was there where the roads turns right to the blue lagoon and I was also on the parking of the lagoon to see what those berms look like.
I am just watching this now, right here on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the same type of volcanoes that we have. I live on the other side of the island so worst part for me is the VOG.
For every volume of lava that’s expelled from a volcano there is obviously that same volume of material somewhere that needs to migrate or settle to replace it. Gasses are compressible but liquid is not so the gasses would of course come out of solution and maintain a lower pressure in the horizon where this is originating but that would cause imbalance in the previous equilibrium prior to eruption. The earths crust will find balance again and continue to change and evolve regardless of what we humans want it to do. Thank you for great content Shawn, it’s much appreciated.
How radioactive are the materials that come up from the Iceland volcanoe depths? I'm often surprised to find elevated (mildly above "background" and not dangerous) levels on the old tephra of Snake River plain's South rim. I'm curious if these fresh flows are bringing up radioactive materials from deeper in the earth in any detectable or meaningful quantities.
I saw the levelling off of the uplift a number of days before the eruption. When it happened in the past wasn’t that usually a sign to expect it would erupt soon? I fully expected it any day but everyone saying not for a week or more, so was it just a fluke or is the levelling off actually a sign?
Stll mad that *you* made the unilateral decision to open the valves to let the lava flow prematurely before the reservoir was filled to the brim 🙂 Out of curiosity, is it possible that the piping from the previous eruption remained available and lava just flowed freely as soon as it reached a certain level? (that would explain lack of seismic activity since magma didn't have to dig its own new piping to the surface). Saw video of the lava entering the Blue Lagoon parking lot. Flames on asphalt. But the sign survived quite a bit and the post was surrounded by lava, was expending it to just bend down as it was pushed by lava instead of remaining standing and being surrounded by laval.
At 12:12 it looks like you can see a face in the smoke. I took a screenshot and if I zoom in on it - it gets even more creepy. Pause at this time stamp and see if you see it the face too.
Thanks Johan for making time for a geologist flight. I bet it's feast or famine for NatureEye flights in Iceland. Enjoy the feast! 🤗
Wow Shawn, I was not expecting a drone flight this soon.
Thanks.
Thank you, Shawn and Johan, for getting this flight together so quickly to give us such a great film of the extent of the eruption. Amazing. 👍
Thanks Shawn and NatureEye! Thanks mods! Interesting as always. Almost looks like the southern most fissure is feeding east and the big one is feeding to the west.
As always! You guys knock it out of the park. Best coverage in the world of volcanolgy.
Props and thanks to Johann for staying wake ong enough to give us a great ride!
Ty Shawn and Johan for streaming this 😮
Good afternoon, Shawn , Amanda Jo, and everyone! Another adventure with this great team! There we go !
Thank you Shawn and Johan , and the entire team, for these amazing videos!! 🌋🌋🌋
Looks like a blue sky day in Iceland! Low winds and great Lighting for a drone flight. Thanks to NatureEye and for your time. Fascinating to see this eruption in "real" time.
Wow the drone flights really help put it all into perspective! Thank you! 👍❤️
I can NEVER get enough of watching the liquid fire it is completely mesmerising!
Fantastic Shawn! No one does presentations like you.
Great job the workers do. Just had a look at Isaks live stream too. And while the lava is flowing in front of the berms, inside the berm they try to make it higher so that the lava can not get inside
Amazing stuff thanks Shawn Willsey in Idaho
A great flight thank you both.😊
Thank you Shawn for including us in your drone adventure. So cool. Thank you to Johan too.
Thank you Shawn & Johan.
Mother Nature says, "skál" ! Thank you @ShawnWillsey for your continuing work !!
That was one of the most amazing closeup I’ve been able to see live, thank you! I lived outside of Kilauea when it went off just miles away but I couldn’t see it so thanks for the live feed!
I remember watching that crack open live too. Was very awe inspiring and scary. So glad it petered out so quickly.
Awesome, thanks Prof.
These are such great flights. Ty ty ty
Spectacular! Thank you, Shawn for commentary aswell!

Had this running while I was putting up my Christmas 🎄 today! Great footage with the drones 👍

So cool! You're getting really good at flying that drone 👍
Nice weather for a drone flight! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing footage taking us all right to the scene, very intense watching the earth building process! Thanks!
Amazing thank you so much Shawn and Johan!!🙃
Saw on another drone flight that the Blue Lagoon is getting hit hard. They are actively trying to berm up around the buildings.
Outstanding, you don't see that every day.
Thank you Johan and Shawn for your time.
👍Di…Cumbria.
Great footage thank you Johan and Shawn great flight 😊
Spectacular: thanks Shawn.
Thank you Shawn and Johan for foinding the time to show us this.
Thanks for all the hard work on these videos!
Thanks so much!
Isak's feed shows earth movers by Blue Lagoon-Heroes!
Thanx DrShawn & Johann
Really awesome video. Helps put each eruption in geolocation perspective. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing.

Wow Shawn, I live about 1.5 miles from CSI (Sunterra subdiv). I had no idea you did this. Awesome stuff.
Great sight and flight, Shawn; one day, I hope to be at a live eruption. Thanks, Chas.
Good morning, Shawn and Johann. Johann, I was with you last night for 30 minutes (until Safety Patrol came to visit.) -- Kurt
Amazing footage! Thank you so much! I am headed there in less than a week 🤘🌋❄️
Thanks!
WOW Amazing thing to see.
Thanks for the flight 25:07 25:11
Many thanks to Johan for burning the midnight oil and for letting Shawn take us on a drone flight.
Oh wow! Missed the live.
If you press F11 it makes the browser go fullscreen. To get out you have to hit F11 again. (ESC doesnt work). Also, you could hide your taskbar.
Super fun video. 😎
These eruptions have produced so much output. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a modern-day eruption spew out so much lava.

When the secondary flow stacks up tall enough will it divert and go back and join the flow headed to the village?
Question: I expected you to have to compensate for significant updrafts from heated air. Why was that not the case?
Wow!
How much distance is being covered?
Love the views from the drone. Do you know how many ft of lava have built up to date?
What is the range on those things? Looks like you covered several miles.

Do those drone have the capability to indicate what the air temp is where it flies?
That river of lava flowing toward the Blue Lagoon seems to have some speed. Approx. how fast is it flowing?
I saw the levelling off of the uplift a number of days before the eruption. When it happened in the past wasn’t that usually a sign to expect it would erupt soon? I fully expected it any day but everyone saying not for a week or more, so was it just a fluke or is the levelling off actually a sign?
It seems that NatureEye drones in this instance could use a temperature sensor.
Can you describe the region the drone is filming
I would love to hear its voice, amplified volcano song?
Aloha from Makaha...bit of a surprise, eh?....I missed the start...LOL
Do we see the blue lagoon here?
WOW
Do you know if lava reached Blue Lagoon parking lot?
What Valley of Fires New Mexico looked like 6000 years ago.
How does the drone survive the heat from the lava flows?
The drone is at least 100 meters away from the lava, which is far enough away to keep it reasonably cool and safe.
this could be the location of a Star Wars or Marvel Universe movie
Latest installment of Volcanos gone wild.
They had a plane fly pass before the landed
I hear you Shawn but not Johan

Ok
Can hear only you

I think they should dig a trenches towards the sea I do t thi k it would last
Good call Doc, luv it when academic skeptics have to eat crow.
boring, just eruption and lavaflow
Thanks!
Wow!
