    On the news on RÚV tonight (nov. 22nd.) they said, that the berm is around 6-8 m high and at one spot the lava stream is at the same height. They are now working to raise the berm (I guess close to the blue lagoon) about 3-4 m. Blue Lagoon released a statement, that they wanna open up again at the 29th of nov. Greetings from Vogar.

    How cool was this! Shawn definitely gives better narrative when he’s not worried that he’s going to fly the drone into a mountain himself 🤣❤️

    If the lava chamber to the south keeps uplifting and deflating....do you worry it could weaken that ground above it and it erupts further to the south?

    Do we have an analysis of the components of the vapors?
    Have the vapors been similar or the same through the various eruptions and between the several eruptions?

    Is it known how quickly the fractures in the rock propagate to the surface at the initiation of the fissure eruptions?
    IOW, when the magma chamber is pressurizing, is the fracture that eventually emerges at the surface as the eruptive fissure, forming over a period of days or weeks and gradually makes it's way to the surface, or does that all happen at once just before the eruption commences?

    if hot water is moving inside the hot water pipe 2 meters under the flow, that should keep the pipe from over heating too much....what do you think?...

  • @teardowndan5364
    @teardowndan5364 11 часов назад

    I wouldn't worry too much about buried water pipes: as long as heat flow through the ground to the pipes isn't too high, they can just bump up the flow rate to keep pipes at a safe temperature. 2m is likely the depth they calculated they needed to achieve this amount of insulation.

    QUESTION: Might be a dumb question but can magma siphon in a system like water can?

  • @nickmcginley4570

    How does the current viscosity/flow speed compare to previous eruptions?

  • @JulianaAndersson
    @JulianaAndersson 10 часов назад

    Someone said it was super fluid which means higher viscosity? Correct? Or lower viscosity? I always get that confused

    After seeing the rather fluid lava I would have expected the lava flow going far further than just the parking lots. But it seems it slowed down a lot.

    What is interesting is that the Earth and the Moon are both approaching perigee in their orbits. Which increases tidal energy on the surface of Earth. Also of note is the difference between hi tide and low tide is over 500,000,000,000,000 tons of water repositioning itself on the surface of the Earth twice a day. Think that might have an effect on a magma vent?

    Willsey
    Hypothesis 🌪️:
    Looking at the conic deflection and in particular the centre it’s worth considering that the lava is acting like a tornado 🌪️ in inverse thus you are looking at a extremely potent lava tornado vortex pushing towards and pouring lava but the crust is so brittle and layered it’s released to the side as if you jump on a tile in a puddle… upside down
    Good luck proving this 😂

    If you're going to do a livestream - you make sure all of your system is running properly BEFORE you go live. It just makes you out as an amateur.

      This is connecting someone in Iceland from Idaho USA…and the guy in Iceland is doing flight after flight with people so no time to do all the testing, etc. that you suggest. Sometimes this is live, on the fly, connection…I quite enjoy Dr. Willsey’s content. Maybe you could learn to go with the flow a bit!

      The man's actual profession is Professor of Geology. Not "content creator." Which is why we are here.
      Also, learning to cope with minor flaws is a great skill to have in life. If this gave you such a hard time that you had to "downvote" and be snarky about it, then consider it a good practice session.

      Even in the best of times, life can be difficult; things don't go the way we want or unforeseen circumstances arise. We all do the best we can and re-direct our sails to stay on an even keel. wen Oregon
