    My grandfather used to keep a little worm farm (for fishing bait) in the backyard with newspaper laid down. We'd keep it wet and add some as the old stuff would break down. There was always worms underneath when we'd lift the layers up. He said that they'd eat the ink off of the paper. Sure enough the underside would have sections of ink missing off of the paper. FYI.

      Haha that's wild. I know Geoff Lawton had a little "fishing bait" worm farm in addition to his vermicompost setups.

    Is there any way you can get on David The Good's Skool platform? He's got videos, a member's section, etc... I know he's had Flomaton Famous on there, I think you would be great too!

    #PERMACULTURE Q&A I have property in Bell County Texas and I have very sweet and extremely rocky soil, (PH is almost 9) and I am wanting to plant some fruit trees. Can you recommend some trees that will would do fairly well in soil that alkaline? Your content is some of the best out there, keep up the great work!

    Speaking of things like poison ivy, had some stinging Nettle hit me in the face the other day, luckily I have a beard. It didn't sting me. So men, grow your beards out for safety reasons. 😂😂

    Flooded land in good for growing certain things? Correct?

    #permacultureQ&A love the channel. I have a 1.5acre property broken up into 3 sections. Clear lawn around house, older growth oak and hickory and last half acre is heavily wooded with a mess of mountain laurel. What are your thoughts on using pigs to clear the undergrowth? I’m concerned about the toxicity. But would love to turn the laurel into bacon. Thanks for all you do.

    Permaculture Q&A: If my woods are full of bois d'arc and honey locust, would it be better to use those cleared branches for bio char instead of chop and drop?

    • @ThePermacultureConsultant
      @ThePermacultureConsultant  Месяц назад

      Good question! I would go with biochar considering neither one of those trees are going to break down in my lifetime 😂

    #PERMACULTURE Q&A I'm in zone 6a but i am also high altitude, and this year my last frost was June 20. So would that mean the best fruit trees for me would have high chill hours? Trees I have tried in the past have flowered way too early and buds get lost to late frosts.
    PS Bone Sauce does keep the deer away. I am now testing it for moles.

    Thank God my Honey Locust does NOT look like the picture you showed, but boy are they invasive. Ours the small tree's or tree's that got cut so much they turned into a bush.

    • @ThePermacultureConsultant
      @ThePermacultureConsultant  Месяц назад

      Haha a lot of cultivated varieties don't look like that anymore. People have developed thornless and almost thornless honey locust.

    #permacultureq&a I'm old and flipping piles of compost isn't something I'm interested in doing.
    Will my compost heap of randomly placed layers of kitchen scraps, leaves, grass clippings, chicken bedding, etc eventually compost without flipping? If so, how long to wait?

    #PermacultureQnA: We would love to give you our business, we are located in Hill Country, TX (Zone 8B). We have a 3000 square food garden (raised beds and in-ground), have amended with a variety of materials (compost, mulch, cover crops, bulk garden soil, etc.) over the last four years in a variety of places. What samples would you recommend we forward as we suspect the soil would be different from location to location. Please and Thank you in advance for your attention to this query.
