On behalf of all Americans who behave like this, please accept my apology. I can’t explain why British/U.K. accents sound so sexy to us, but they really do! I love ALL of them, but I keep it to myself. As an Alabamian who moved to New England, I get how annoying it can be to have people ask you to talk for their own entertainment/ ask you to talk more like an accent they’ve seen in movies 😁

Billy is repping for us midlanders/northerners!!
The accents in Britain are typically/historically (not always) tied to one’s class. So asking someone change their accent to sound like they’re from a privileged southern household is highly offence.
We take pride in our accents, and the linguistic journeys they’ve gone on.
Also, no such thing as “proper British accent” as the two greatest English artistic powerhouses weren’t from the south or London.
The Beatles were from the North. (Same accent billy is doing in part two)😜
William Shakespeare was from the midlands. 😜
Also the man who wrote our national anthem Sir Edward Elgar was also from the midlands.
