People used to come for the weekend because there were race cars on the track Fri-Sun pretty frequently. You could watch a couple races, qualifying, happy hour, practice, busch race for cheap all prior to Sunday. Nascar killed the appeal of the weekend event for most of the season. The double-header Pocono weekend was a great idea when they did it a few years back.

Taking your belts off after the checkers doesn’t seem weird to me. You don’t need a harness to run a pace lap, you only wear that because you’re racing. Once the race is over, it seems understandable to take your belts off, especially the leader because they’re gonna interview you on the track. Not saying I would do it, but it wouldn’t make you an idiot.

I remember my parents taking us to pocono as kids and throwing of football while we waited in traffic, hearing the beginning of this show brought back that memory, this was probably around 96-98 and then we started going to Dover camping out across the street, 01 was my most favorite NASCAR memory because the patriotism right after 9/11 and that race being the first major sport event after and Jr winning that race! I was 11 years old and man that was a good time walking the strip at night, shopping cart races, the school bus full of strippers that took people to the strip club 😂

Big Jr. fan here, but I think Jr. is a bit spot off with drivers loosening their belts on cool down. There are plenty of things drivers do while on the track that are just as dangerous. The winner traditionally puts his window net down and waves to the fans. That's dangerous, but it's acceptable. I personally think that was the route NASCAR took with Bubba. Bowman won, his driver's side was by the wall, Bubba hit him up against the wall. If Bowman's hand had been out the window, that could've ended ugly. I'm not a driver like Jr, so I understand my opinion is shallow at best. Thanks for all you've done for this sport Jr.

Pocono is a tough track to get in an out. We used to drive there and then drive back home, we left in the dark, and got home in the dark. Then after a few we went to Watkins Glen an to Dover for a few years. I had moved to NC in 2010 and I live near SC line and I will be going to Darlington soon and I have been to Hendricks shop and checked out his museum, that was cool 😎, and for lunch we went to your place, food was great. I love NASCAR, but being a father that's trying to keep a roof over my head and clothes on my kids backs. It's so expensive to go to the track, that I have a choice to make, I can either go to the races, or pay the house payment. I'm not saying that NASCAR is more expensive than other sports, but finding the cash to go to an NFL game, MLB game or even a minor league game is getting harder and harder to do with less disposable income.

My friend drove 10 hours from SC and sat in traffic for 4 hours only to not get in. I had a fabulous experience with VIP passes all weekend. The crowd was great and camping was sold out as was the race. LaJoie obviously did it intentionally. Kenseth tackled Keselowski in 2014 for, this is a quote, "I had my HANS off, my seatbelts off and everything, and he just clobbers me"
Kenseth was not stopped on pit road when this hit happened. So is it absolutely stupid? Of course, but does it happen? Also of course. Even amongst veterans of the sport.

@@MrJOKERZ68 they block all the time all race somewhere on the track. That still doesn’t excuse Cory for wrecking Kyle. Kyle’s block wasn’t that caused the wreck. The ignorance and boneheaded decision is what cases the wreck and took out a lot of other cars that had nothing to do with it. Innocent casualties!!

If there’s no repercussions or penalties in NASCAR for taking someone out of the race, then bad luck!!

    • @DevinEMILE

@@MrJOKERZ68 If everyone that was blocked turned around hooked the guy who did it we'd be lucky to finish with 1 car let alone the field. Blocking happens all the time and is racing. Left rearing someone into Turn 1 at Pocono going 180 because you were blocked isn't racing, its bush league and is unacceptable and should have been fined.
But Nascar closes its eyes until someone either gets hurt or something else forces their hand. Plus i have a hard time seeing how the other four or five cars were at fault for Kyle blocking Corey.

30:37 he will never recover from the Talladega incident in 2020 he alienated the entire fanbase right then and there he might as well go ahead and retire. People are not gonna be on his side. EVER!
35:01 and all of that would be easier if he could turn to the fans, but he can’t. He has his little group he can turn to and they give him his praise, but he will never get it from the majority.
36:53 KB can’t outshine the golden boy tooooo much. He made him look horrible last year. I mean, we all know Austin is not a championship winner like Kyle. But I went in there and won three races last year. Austin has won four his whole career in cup?

I feel like if I had grown up with Jr & gone to school with him, we'd have definitely been friends to this day. So much of what he says is similar to how I look at things, I hate playing sports games with others online as well BUT the few times I did, & it was in EA Sports NBA Live, Madden & Tiger Woods PGA Tour, I usually won because I always played very conservatively where-as the people I played against were always trying to go long on every play & I do the same thing he doe's on Madden as soon as I would start a Dynasty I usually fire all my top earning players for no name bums first off so I would have an assload of cap space & then turn them all into HOF'ers in only a few season's after signing them to low earning long term deals.
