Thanks for the Chanukah series this year! I love this yarn and can’t wait to see more of this project. Stellina and speckles are hard and I’m glad you found a way without dulling the sparkle.
You solution for the bleeding using salt was briliant. Not only you diluted the dye, but you added a "salting out" agent, to further help the dye entering the yarn. I follow how you gradually develop the techneqes for speckling, from adding sugar, citric acid and now salt. Very interesting. Thank you very much for sharing ❤❤❤
Oh how my heart sinks when I get bleeding after I’ve dyed!!! My nemesis colour is green ….. I’ve tried numerous brands, but it still bleeds. It’s when the soap is added… and I’ve tried numerous brands of soap too 😱 I now just avoid green. But blue & yellow in various ratios make lovely shades, so that’s how I “mix” it (by over-dying IN the pan 🤷♀️
I was so excited that I came up with a washing solution that worked for the original, but then also a solutino so I didn't have to do the double heat set!
I really liked this one. I found that the ones that you dyed looked dithered and the yarn mops looked like waved, if that makes sense. Just out of curiosity though, was the inspiration video live streamed on RUclips or Patreon?

I love speckling and have to definitely improve on my technique. Very interesting about the salt. I will have to remember to do this😊
If there weren't stellina in the yarn then I might have used citric acid, but you want to avoid citric acid with stellina

What dye colors would you use to make a purple version? 💜💜💜
Probably mostly electric violet and hyacinth. Then with some pops maybe of purple pop and royal purple? I'd have to play around :D

I didn't end up keeping one for myself. (Sometimes I'll keep one if there is any left after chanukah.) so I'll need to dye up some more sometime
