Thanks so much dude! I loved your video as well; it was extremely well-researched with great footage! It definitely served as an inspiration for my own exploration!
Wow been watching you for years, didn’t expect this. Live right down the street from here, as a kid we used to chill and play paintball over here. Looking forward to watching the vid! Welcome to new britski!
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ as a lifelong Carpenter I'm very familiar with Stanley tools, I still use a 100-year-old block plane that's better than anything made today. It was great hearing about the history Jason and seeing the ruins ✌️🇺🇲
Great video as always! Thanks for using a mic like you do. Helps so much when you're outside. Also, when you put up text, try and put a white border around it. Makes it way easier to read. sometimes its called "stroke" in the text section of your editor. Hope you have a banging holiday brother! Much love from SE PA.
Good idea regarding the text! I actually did that in my Friendly’s video two weeks ago, and it looked great. I like the idea of doing that more frequently in all future videos! Thanks so much man!
I just started watching your channel past few weeks. Very cool that you came to my neighborhood. Have you heard of Cotton Hollow in Glastonbury? The ruins of the old mill is a big multi story stone wall.
Pretty dope little spot. With some tarp lining and a little hardwork, this structure could make for a good bum rest-stop. Also, weird to see snow on the ground, December out in eastern MA is just "wet, gray, miserable". Think we'll have another green Christmas this year.
I’m from eastern Massachusetts myself and on the day I filmed this, we had no snow whatsoever lol… it was weird seeing it down south in Connecticut. Also, fun idea!
I grew up in New Britain and live a mile away in Newington fron this place. My elemantry school (Holmes School)was up the street and in gym class we would walk in the trails around there. There is another ruins in the woods but just a stone chimney. Great video .. oh down the street is Stanly Golf Course played there years ago..
Awesome video. Love your presentation every time. I might of missed it, how many stories was the mansion? Are there any pictures of it before it burned?
Thank you! Sadly, that is not something I could confirm. I tried searching online for old photos, but unfortunately I could not find any due to the relative obscurity of this place.
Been meaning to take a trip down to Connecticuit and explore the numerous locations. The only location ive been to so far was in New London near the CG academy. Good stuff as always! RTO
Oh that’s dope dude! There are a few other spots in the New London / Groton area I need to explore soon. I’ve only done the Shepherd of the Sea Chapel so far. Thanks!
@ Seaside Sanatorium in Waterford CT is a dope location. Theres two buildings, unfortunately you have to either duck or jump fences for them. Easy parking and no security. There isnt much left on the inside of the buildings, minimal furniture and many of the walls are torn down. But the structure is solid and there is plenty of very interesting graffiti. I would check it out if your in the area🤷♂️
Dope video again. I can't think of anyone I know that hasn't owned a set of Stanley screwdrivers over the years. On an unrelated note ... How about all those UAP drones flying in NJ? Is that you LOL?
So late to watch this one. But what a sick spot… I always wonder how the roofs of ruins just seem to disappear and leave no trace of them ever being there.
Wow, good point! I’ve never thought of that before… my best guess is that maybe, since most roofs were made of wood, they were destroyed by a fire? These ruins were devastated by a fire in 1940, so my best guess is that the roof was incinerated during that. Very interesting!
@ I’d have to agree otherwise you’d surely see some remains even if it was on the ground… I would imagine it would take a few centuries for a whole roof to decompose
Cool location - I don't think those holes were for floorboards - I see two sets of holes and it only looks like 2 or 3 feet difference in height between them. So unless they were REALLY short people, I don't see how they could be for floorboards. Additionally - if they were for floorboards they would intercept the fireplace at the mid-height point. I think there's got to be another explanation for them. Great video as always, enjoyed it!!
That is a very good point! Hmm, I may have to look into that a bit more-there must be a more probably explanation. Very interesting to consider. And thank you!
Great video dude! Loved visiting that spot last fall!

Haha wow, that’s awesome! Loved checking out your city! I bet playing at those ruins as a kid was so much fun!
Good Job 👍
Thank you!
You're right. That chair set up would be a dope spot for chilling, vibing, smoking and drinking by the fire side. All of the above 😁
Lol, true! I don’t smoke or drink myself, so maybe I’ll just stick with the chilling and vibing for now 😂

Nice, that’s awesome to hear that you are so familiar with Stanley tools! Such an iconic brand!

Thank you so much! I have not heard of those ruins-that sounds fascinating! I’ll have to look more into it, and check it out sometime soon!
@@j-massbeen on my list FOREVER!

You totally should, it’s such a cool set of ruins with a lot of history! Fun little hike, too!

Oh yep I did hit Seaside Sanatorium, a few weeks ago actually! I didn’t go inside unfortunately, but I scoped it out and I found a way in… 👀

LOL not me! 😂 Close enough, though!
@j-mass Fair. Fun Fact, Adam Savage from Mythbusters fame collects Stanley tools. He did an episode about it on Tested maybe a year ago.
Oh that’s fascinating, very cool little fun fact!
Hey J love your adventures
Thanks man! 🙏

Floorboards = Floor Joists, a main carrying beam in the middle held up the joists and landed on the stone piers for support.
That makes perfect sense, thank you! That is what I was envisioning as well.
Great ruins! Interesting there isnt that much information about it.
I know right? Tons of information on the Stanley family due to their prominence in the community, but very little on the actual ruins themselves.
Wow I used to live very close to that place if I stayed there I would have gone
It’s a fun place to hike to and explore! Absolutely worth a visit if you’re back in the area!
