@@lep8622 Carplay works much better and doesn't drop stations on Audacy or lose podcasts and siri works like it's supposed to. It also fixed some audio bugs I was experiencing on my old iPhone 8 which I blamed on Apple, but it wasn't.
Hey on my pioneer head unit anytime I attempt the update the firmware the screen goes blank. If i restart the vehicle everything works fine but no firmware update. I contacted pioneer and they suggested sending it for 60 bux to get it updated. Any help would be great.
I have the avh 2550 nex and am not a tech person. So, I understand your directions fine, but have 2 questions. 1. It has 2 update options for my car stereo dated the same, just different versions. How do I know which version is the one in my car. 2. The stereo is mounted inside my dash, so where would I find the USB plug? Thanks
@@hurkamur1 maybe bluetooth version can play Samsung S23 , S24 series now, cuz S23 ultra supports 5.3 bluetooth while those car stereo are bluetooth version 4.0-4.2 only So there you know, improvement over LPF (Low pass filter) for your car.
I'm trying to upgrade mine from 1.06 to 1.07 like in the video for stability of Apple CarPlay, but I can't because it's grayed out. Going to try his suggestion above of trying to ground the light green wire to the unit and see what happens.

I just upgraded to the iPhone 16 so I pulled the unit out and replaced the lightning with USB-C, however it now does not work with the phone at all. Is there a compatibility issue that makes it time for a complete upgrade to a 2024/25 model head unit?

Hey I have a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo and my radio plays XM satellite radio fine but when I switch it to the FM radio there is no sound or you can barely hear it if you put it full blast, do you have any ideas what can be the problem
Not if your radio has a USB port to plug a flash drive into, you'll just need a laptop or desktop to download the files onto and then plug it into the radio and follow the steps that he gave.👍

I’m having the same issue. Avh-w4500nex. Worst radio I’ve ever owned. And more than double the price of the most expensive. Real POS. Never buying any pioneer again.
@@wymansmith9101 As far as I can tell there is not and never has been updates for the 4500. Which makes no sense since it is one of Pioneer's flagship units. The issue I'm having is Android Auto working intermittently all of a sudden. I have done a update on my phone, hopefully that will fix the issue.
Had a different model (DMH-W4660NEX) but updated it using this info. Gotta say, I was always told pioneer products are excellent but this hasn't really been the case for us. Just feels laggy and an overall poor experience for how expensive the unit was. Went from 1.14 > 3.0 and was expecting something great considering the massive FW leap. Also, the "update succeed" message really gave me vibes of cheap chinese head unit; minor quibble but I mean it's supposed to be a high quality product. We got it at Best Buy ffs. I sometimes have to restart the unit just to get a wireless connection; that MAY have been solved with this release, but you gotta sit on the connecting screen for ages when it doesn't auto connect. Meanwhile my wife's Hyundai is already five miles down the highway listening to her favorite tunes using google maps with carplay. What gives?
I just got the Pioneer DMH3800NEX head unit and overall I'm pleased but I did notice love lagginess, I have not had any issues with Carplay connection really at all. I agree with you, these head units should feel much more snappy. The Kenwood head unit I just removed didn't have the lag issues. The is an update available that I have not installed and I'm hoping that may help with the lagginess. The issue is not a deal breaker but for me but as you said I would expect better from "Pioneer" being a known name brand.

Mine cuts off randomly and I’m hoping that rotating the firmware will fix this issue?

Are you using a Apple computer. I read you may need to use a windows style computer.

No. You need the firmware designed for your specific hardware. You can't add carplay to hardware that wasn't designed for it.

you might have to ground the parking brake wire (light green wire) to a metal part of the actual stereo deck. hope this helps

Then you likely have a unit that can't be updated . Not all units have FW updates.
