Thanks for posting this video. Followed the instructions verbatim. Downloaded update. Formatted the thumb drive. Copy and pasted for the first two attempts and subsequently sent update to thumb drive the third and fourth attempts. Connected to USB 1, pressed AV, source off and firmware update and continue. Four attempts and nothing. Displays message to make sure only the update file is on thumb drive and reconnect. The update file is the only file on the thumb drive. My 8200-NEX does not want to complete the update.
What exactly is being updated ? I want updated maps mostly . I cannot find an answer . Is a map update different than a firmware update . Also larger thumb drives cannot be formatted FAT 32 unless you create smaller partition first .

It's not really clear if you unzipped this file. I can't open a zip file like that and extract a folder. Are we supposed to put the zip file in the thumb drive, or unzip it first and put THAT in the thumb drive. Seems like there was some video magic where some files appeared on your desktop already unzipped. Databyter

I tried to update the 4100nex to the 1.10v and it does NOT work. Any clues? I put in USB1, I turned it off, I used a formated stick larger tahn 2gb, I copied the main file. Any ideas? the main folder is titled 4100nex, the folder inside is called 5100nex, and then a bunch of files in that. Tried using either folder with "No Device, Please try again" message. Arrghh!!!

bay bay that is because there has been no updates for the radio yet. If you register your warranty card Pioneer will send you an email when there is an update

bay bay the warranty card is a little 3x5 slip of paper. You may be able to do it on their web site. OS updates are on Pioneers site, navigation on Naviextras

2 things to note in my case it was much easier updating in the SD slot cause usb1 was taken by my miracast adapter. And 2 there is also a separate update for Bluetooth software in the Bluetooth tab most people miss that one.

No, the Mac puts a hidden fill on the drive. There is an app call "eject for windows" you can use on your Mac to get it to work. By the way it hate Windows!
Jmustan03 that is strange Communication issue. You may want to go into the main menu( gears) and go to the tool and do e restore settings to see if that helps

hey I have question I hope yall could help me out with I have a 2014 ram had the basic 3.0 radio I swapped it out recently with a pioneer AVH-X4800BS head unit and my truck has back up sensors that normal make sound when you get close to something but now will not make the warning sounds. any idea why? thanks.
+Holden Stewart so after checking everybody's smart harness the only companies that retains the backup assist is iDataLinks. Unfortunately it will not work with the 4800.
Five Star Car Stereo my car is a 2011 C350 mercedes. Im also having some trouble with my aftermarket reverse camera that only sometimes works when the gear is in reverse. All of this professionally installed by an audio shop.
+maroturbo383 did you get it to work yet? If not try reformatting the drive to fat32. Make sure to go into the radio smartphone settings and make sure it is set to USB. Can also resort the radio and then try the update.

Note: If the firmware update file that you download from Pioneer comes as a ZIP file, you have to extract the files before using.

Nice, put my car in Accessory mode and turned source off on the radio. Firmware update came on and I could start it.

The Bluetooth update is included on this up date. We use USB only because it works in all the radios.

No the bypass will work fine.
Mines update the same software 1.01 witch it currently have I see yours say 1.03.
Antron Robinson the 4200 is on 1.03 the navigation radios are still on 1.01.

+Jose Cortes Mac puts a temp file on the drive the radio can't read. You can get an app called Eject for Windows or just use a Windows computer.

That is the current version for that radio. The 4200 is the only radio on 1.03
