An adventure into an amazing country. 4 seasons packed into 15 days
The Summer: the Gobi is not just a desert. Is a unique region comprising of mountains, sand dunes, grass lands and flat pans. Life here is though not only physically (due to the arid climate) but also mentally: before reaching the mountains and the dunes, the so-called "middle Gobi" is an immense flat pan with no landmarks for miles. It's mental as it seems to be in an infinite area that will never end.
The Spring: the Orhon valley. This is the Mongolia typical postcard. Green land and blue sky dotted with white ghers (the local typical tents) and clouds. Full of livestock, every valley in the region shows the nomadic life of Mongolians that has been going on for centuries. In the town of Karkhorin, very little ruins bring your mind to the era of Chinggis Khan when Mongolians run for more than two centuries the largest empire that ever existed in human history.
The Autumn: as we moved North to reach the Hovsgol lake, we had to pass through a range of mountains. The weather turned rainy, grey and cold as if we were on a November day in Europe. Crossing rivers started to became a concern and mud appeared on all trails. Rain never stopped for 2 days.
The Winter: on the highest pass the rain became snow. On the Zoolongyin pass, we got stuck with our cars for more than 3 hours. Trying to get the cars out of the snow and mud was though. Eventually we did manage to get over.
The Spring again: lake Hovsgol is Mongolian's largest lake and beach holiday place. Here we abandoned the green Mongolian valley to enter the Taiga, the coniferous forest. We are close to the border with Russian Siberia here

I have been guiding and organizing soft-adventure and cultural tours for 15 years. There are 2 things makes people love Mongolia. 1 is the open space and nature, the second is the hospitable nomadic community. I love my country. I have been traveling over 30 countries in 4 continents I but decided to stay in my home country.

Ahh my beautiful country! I really enjoyed your documentary. My family used to go to a countryside a lot when we were child. It used to seem like limitless when on road, same mountains after mountains, endless wide steppes... But when we get back home, we miss all the adventures we've been through. The air, the landscape, sleeping in tent and food we used to make...etc. And your video just reminded me of that memories. Thank you very much! Well done guys!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Very nice adventure, stuck in the mud and need to push with 2 people, 2 flat tyre ad gobi dessert no spare left, wait 2 hours for help to repair our tyre, ad the green zone stuck in the river, water in the car above the seats. We loved it, very nice country, very nice people, the wideness is spectacular, the silence, as far as you can look nothing and alone on the world, fantastic trip. Only Beijing(transit) was a nightmare, we had 4 hours transit and we needed 3 to get on another airplane, to,return to Belgium was even worse.

    Amarbayasgalant Monastery
I read about this monastery before and was amazed that it has become one of the few monasteries that flourish after the upheavals of 1930s, and I am even more pleasantly surprised when I knew that they propitiated Dorje Shugden as their protector. No doubt, Dorje Shugden has helped the monastery to recover and thrive as it is today.
It is definitely an interesting place to visit
